  • Hair mistakes that age you faster are easy to make. Hair mistakes that age you faster are ALSO easy to fix! In this video I reveal 4 mistakes that people make that are causing your hair to look older and robbing your overall appearance of a youthful look. I'll show you a photo of a woman and reveal the mistakes she's making with her hair that are taking away from her youthful appearance. Then I will show you photos of hairstyle options ON her that woulda dress those concerns and help her look more youthful. I reveal how you can use your hairstyle to accentuate parts of your face that will keep your hair from bringing you down and add more vibrance to your look. We also tackle the question "Should I go lighter with my hair color as I age?" Spoiler alert....my answer might surprise you! SIDE NOTE, when I say "youthful", I'm NOT talking about looking young, i'm talking about looking more vibrant, full of life and well.....youthful at whatever age you are.

      Yes! I would be the first to chime in on this question. During 2020/Covid Days, I colored my own hair. It ruined my hair so bad that I had to cut off five inches. So now I have a somewhat of a Bob cut but I don’t think it’s flattering on me. Would love your help.

    I love unique looks. To me, this person’s long face, high forehead, and gorgeous eyes makes her look like no one else. I love it! The suggestions may transform her look to a more traditional concept of beauty , but I liked those looks less than her own unique and beautiful face and style.

    • @tundeterez
      @tundeterez 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I agree with you and at the same time agree with him. He is right if we are looking at this from an artists perception that also filters things through the understanding of traditional beauty. You are right as well if we filter things through understanding of natural beauty and evolution, to a certain extent, but then she would be able to express that natural beauty further by letting her natural hair color show and by not having had those obvious cosmetic adjustments. His advice is spot on for her though because she appears to be expressing a younger image.

      100% agree with you. I resemble that model in looks and age, his suggestions just age and draw attention to the droopiness of the jawline. Dark hair highlights every nook and cranny on her face. Lighter colors tend to fade them. The bangs are a big no, no! Bangs are for children and look ridiculous on older women.

    The problem with bangs that length is that we are constantly trying to move them out of our eyes. It might look nice, but not doable (and it eventually becomes irritating) for a lot of women. She’s a classic beauty - no change needed in my opinion.

    She looks gorgeous as she naturally is, hair blown back from her face. Lucky woman! Sure you can give her a different look, but why mess with perfection? As for why women tend to go lighter as they age, it really doesn't have to do with darker hair looking harsh against the skin. It's the constant upkeep from the onslaught of grey and white hair. Lighter hair is more forgiving of gray and white hair, it blends in better than with darker shades, since there's less contrast.

    The lighter shade of the darker versions looked stunning on her. It definitely brought out her eyes and helped hide her longer face shape. The original way she wore her hair did nothing. The blonde with the side swept bangs looked ok, but she looked like a lot of others. She really stood out the best in the third option. I have always thought that as you age, bangs are your best friend. It's a whole lot cheaper than Botox 😂

    I love the side swept bang with long hair. The pulled back hair on her isn't doing her eyes or cheeks justice. She is very beautiful. I do not like the super dark shade only because it has not as much dimension to her hair. And adding dark with worry about graying shows through faster. Much more upkeep.

  • @barefootbelle1355
    @barefootbelle1355 2 ปีที่แล้ว +32

    With her wonderful strong hairline, her arched and up-tilting eyebrows, it is the gestalt of the face that works here. The bangs hide the outer, uplifting half of the eyebrow, and remove the framing of the eye itself. A high forehead is traditionally associated with nobility and intelligence, and she has a pretty hairline with a soft widow's peak, which makes her unique. With the bangs, she looks nice, but more ordinary and more forgettable.
    The two last face-framing corrections bring attention to the very center of her face, where you are forced to notice her (age appropriate) puppet lines, which was hardly perceived when you were taking in the entire face. And with the fuller bangs, her nose tip looks a trifle longish. The reason for this is the space of her exposed face (from top to bottom) is now shorter, so the nose-length, by comparison, is greater. And with this new attention on the nose, one sees it is just a smidgeon crooked. Sure, her nose is just fine, but it isn't as striking a feature as her beautiful forehead and expressive eyebrows.

    First of all, you had me with the scenery! Thank you for taking us out into nature. This video was just what I needed to see. I’m 67 and I’m a natural brunette with blue eyes. Ive been having my hair colored professionally for years now and going lighter and lighter, almost as light as your model. Ive been going with the idea of lightness so that my grey roots don’t show as much, (I get my hair done every 3 weeks because the roots show up so fast) but my thinning hair show my roots/scalp either way. I feel very washed out and have no dimension anymore and now I see why! I love the dark color with the dimension you showed and have taken a picture of it to show my stylist. Thank you so much for making these videos. Now I’m going back to watch all your other videos to learn more!

    I’m so glad to hear you say lighter as we age, is not always better. For the last 9 years I let my all white hair be natural. I noticed a picture of my self last month, and I literally was shocked and said to myself “who is that old lady!” I just went back to dark brown 3 weeks ago. I love it, friends and family said I have color back in my face and I look 20 years younger. (I’m 68). I loved the darker versions of hair color on your model. Both were great. The length was super cute on her too. 🍂🌻

    Great video - love the outdoor setting for your videos. Reminds us all that hair can be a confidence builder (or the opposite) but being in nature can feed our soul. My only feedback is that it is hard to always look at gorgeous models for these videos - impossibly beautiful people that would look great with straw for hair. Would be more interesting to see more "normal" people, who are aging, or are not stick skinny, etc. But am a fan Justin, and always look forward to your educational videos!

    Your channel showed up on my recommendations and I’m hooked! New subscriber here.
    Quick question if you have a moment: I wore bangs for years to soften a high forehead but during Covid I let them grow out. I miss having them but my hair has thinned so much due to aging that there just isn’t enough hair anymore for a decent fringe. Not only that, but I was a strawberry-blonde and all the front of my hair is now white so I have a visible scalp that nearly looks balding.What would you suggest to bring some softness and frame an old woman’s face? ☺️ Thanks!

      Hello 👋

    • @FirCorred
      @FirCorred 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      oh my, that sounds difficult. Can you set the parting for the bangs back 0,5 inch/1cm, so you'll have more hair for bangs and maybe a few feathery wisps around your face? Also everybody's going crazy bout grey, mostly darker gray hair, there's all kinds of mousses, dyes and stuff. They usually thicken hair a bit, but please don't use any permanent dyes, they'll damage your scalp and hair after a certain age. Mousse/semi-permanent is better, also adds volume. If that's not for you, how about a color mousse that's caramel toned, just slightly darker than your skin, and use matte bronzer on scalp and roots? Hope Justin gets back to you on this, it's a very interesting question and surely demands an interesting answer. All I got are hacks. Love and🌺from Europe

    I really love the darker of the two a lot. My hair is somewhere between med and dk brown so I'm patrial 😆.
    I am closer to 60 then I like but am still toying with going black at least once in my life.Diid the blonde thing hated it, however that was easily fixed. Black is a nightmare to color correct so there's that...
