I am 70 years old and just recently stayed with my sister for six weeks. She's a vegetarian and was juicing every day and basically all I had for the six weeks were fruits and vegetables, mostly raw. I noticed that my hair stopped falling out when I combed it out after shampoo and I also noticed a lot of new hair growth at my part and hairline. So diet definitely makes a difference.

    Love your authentic approach.
I started eating healthier a year ago. Whole foods, no processed foods. I went from washing my hair daily to washing it once every 3 days. Simply because I started noticing that it didn't need to be washed as often. It's shinier, stronger, more hydrated & softer. So it was so refreshing to hear you link nutrition and stress to hair and overall body health.
    Thanks for being you.

@@justinhickox I call mine ash blonde. Get it, "ash" rather than gray. I always hoped that i would be a freak of nature and not go gray. Good thing is that being naturally blonde, it took awhile to show up and I started coloring it. Menopause has changed my texture though. My hair wavier now than it used to be when I was younger. Still fine and thick though.

I love your videos I'm so glad I saw this one today because it boosts my confidence and what I'm going to try next with my haircut/color apt. I don't get my hair done often but when I do i splurge. And although others love my length of hair, I really value volume, and face framing texture which is hard to keep at a super long length! ... so I'm just glad to hear your video reassure me in how to keep hair flattering in color, style, and length!!

Just came across your Channel. Totally agree with about stress, my hair was always thick and bouncy but about 15vyrs ago I had a whole amount of stress going on in my life, weight dropped dramatically and my hair went bolt straight and thin, it was breaking off in clumps but luckily not at the scalp, my hairdresser styled my hair in the Rachael cut but kept it layered to hide the breakage. Now thankfully no worries or stress my hair is still fine but I have a lot of it......the fineness now is probably more to do with the menopause. Loved your video, your back drop is stunning ❤

Your tips make a lot of sense, I enjoyed this video a lot. You’re so on point about stress and nutrition; I lost a lot of hair due to stress while I was working in my previous job, my scalp is visible in my crown. After changing my workplace and starting to eat right two months ago I began to see some difference in my hair. I don’t know if it will go back to its original thickness but I’m hopeful🙂 thanks again for the great content..

Love love love that you pointed out less obvious reasons why our hair might look dry or unhealthy. I didn’t even think about stress as a possible culprit for the change in my own hair texture. It’s just a further reminder that stress & diet effect parts of the body (hair too!) that I didn’t even think about. I gotta remember to namaste!

  • @harttra1

I LUV that you’re talking about the role nutrition and stress in our lives and their impact on hair. The toll is evident in our bodies, too. Hair, to me, is such a big part of my expression in the world. The older I get the more I value what my body provides and hair is certainly something I value highly! I’m 60 and pretty fit but there is always room for improvement. These tips (mistakes) are great! Also luv that your vid is recorded on a hike. Wonderful 🥰Thanks!

I don't understand why people would say anything bad about this video or any other video you've done. If I look at the broader message of what you are trying to say it's that you genuinely care about people's hair. That's what I need. I need someone thinking double time about my hair type. I have tried to learn as much as I can about hair, but there is a lot of information out there and it can be overwhelming. Your videos allow me to learn about different things I can do to help my hair and that's why I love your channel. The knowledge that you share is broken down in a clear and logical manner that is easy to digest and implement. I guess there's always going to be people that take offense at someone saying they're making mistakes with their hair, but I don't think they are hearing your broader message which (again) is that you care about people's hair and you're only trying to make their hair be the best it can be.

Not only do I love your style, your content and your hair, I love the fact that you focus on real food for your nutritional source!! I've been telling people that for over 30 years & it's so refreshing to hear you say that too. My hair went through a lot of changes and looked terrible in my 40s because I didn't know I had a thyroid problem! Once I decreased my stress and got on nature-throid my hair is the healthiest it's been in 20 years! My diet has always been good - been organic, primarily vegan for almost all my life - and yet there were some things missing. ( Low thyroid, poor absorption with vitamin D, decreased thyroid function) Keep up the good work! I just subscribed. I'll be following you :-)

I'm a young 54 and the best thing I ever did was grow out my natural grey/white hair. I did it 2.5 years ago and guess what it suits my skin tone, it's so much healthier and since I've stopped dying my hair it's grown thicker because I'm no longer soaking it in chemicals. I see so many older women who still persist in dying their hair in the belief that it makes them look younger with no idea that their natural colour would not only look great on them but that it would also save them a fortune. I get so many compliments when I'm out about my grey hair from young women wanting to know where I get my "colour" done to older ladies who just want to chat about growing out their own colour. I have my hair trimmed and re-styled every 3 months.

It is a proven fact gray hair reeks aging! So why have it, sure its easier....but makes
skin more ashy! Don't go dark if natural hair color is dark . Do a warm blonde! Not
cool ash tone shades.. I am speaking from a professional
level over 25 years, in the buisness

LOVE your videos and great advice, Justin! You keep the info clear and concise which I find very, very helpful. I too would really appreciate a vid on the dreaded “cowlick”. I have one slightly behind the crown that’s the size of South Dakota and it has driven me crazy for years. Why is that such a tricky area? Why so hard to fix it? My hair can look great when I head out for the day or evening but then a couple of hours later the hair is separating and it looks ridiculous. Well, to me it does although, to be fair, probably no one but me actually thinks about it or cares about it 😆😆 Anyhow, that would be a wonderful topic. And I love the background which is so relaxing to see. It’s beautiful!
Thanks so much for your guidance and generosity of spirit as you show us (and explain) better ways of coping with our hair, along with the overall health tips. A boatload of gratitude! 🙏🏻🙏🏻💕

Protein….on your slide it’s spelled wrong. Love your video, your personality is great! It made me laugh when you mentioned hair length & body type, etc. I see so many people with long (yikes!) hair-looks old & drab. Great idea to change the scenery! You had me at “outdoors”! I will definitely watch more! Thank you!

Love the backround. Love the tips. Agree with the blonde vs warmer blonde tip. I went to a medium blonde for years before i developed scalp irritation after 20 yrs of coloring. Recently discovered i like my natural light gray color. Not as bad as i feared. I will dust off my flat iron and try the C technique you mentioned for bobs. New to your channel & enjoyed!

I stopped coloring a few years ago and am fully gray now. I find that putting oil makes my hair softer and appear a bit darker which I like. And I'm taking Omega 3 for my eyes and using olive and avocado oil for cooking to see if it will benefit my hair too. Seems like we lose oil and water as we age and have to replenish it a lot to keep up. Thank you for your tips! I'm going to use just my flat iron from now on.

As I have gotten older (I am 60 now) my hair, which used to be terribly thick and wavy, has gotten much thinner and finer. You can see my scalp now. I used to wear bangs, but the weird receding hairline of aging was starting to become problematic. So I grew out my bangs and currently wear a side part, wedged stacked bob. The front is about 2" below my chin. I am also very gray and completely white on the sides from my ears forward, so I color my hair light brown. I will be retiring soon and afterwards I would like to go naturally gray and shorter. I would like to see a video on shorter hair styles for older women that work for thin and fine hair with a receding hairline above the temples.

Hi I hope you see this comment. My hair was the same and everytime I washed it I was shedding more and more hair. I was advised at my age I probably needed B complex supplements. I started to take them and there was a vast difference to my hair. I hope this helps

I've been using rosemary and clove water and it seems to be helping my thinning. It's easy to try and not expensive. Just take a couple of tablespoons of each in a cup of water, simmer for 10 minutes, strain and spray on your scalp. Just passing on what seems to be beneficial to me.

I love my cool tone blonde which was the color of my hair as a child so it's a good match for my skin and the grey blends too. Definitely dryer hair and have to use better products for that. Multiple surgeries thinned out my hair and now it's recovering from that! So good to hear your tips 👏

    • @macherie1234
      @macherie1234 2 ปีที่แล้ว

My mother gracefully grayed in cool tones as well. It was/is gorgeous. My hair first lost its auburn tone to a warm brown. Now I see hairs fading from medium warm brown through warm blonde to a translucent white. The white isn't predominant enough yet to be very noticeable, unless I'm under very bright lights. My stylists rave about how beautifully and evenly I'm losing color. I'm glad because several years ago I became allergic to even semipermanent dyes. My hair has also become curlier and I've had to learn to manage frizzies, which is somewhat difficult because I forget to use beauty products (including makeup). Social distancing and masks haven't helped this tendency...
