I just got one of these. You don't need a 2p coin to open the battery compartment you can detach the strap and use either end as a screwdriver to get to the battery. :)

What a fabulous review and what a fabulous head torch . Once again quality outshines (pardon the pun) the competition. LED Lenser are the best .

I had the MH10 version (not programmable) and although it was pretty bright, I found the beam adjustment was not a very good solution. It was hard to find an optimum position and to begin with, I was forever adjusting it. Eventually, I left it on an "OK" setting. I now have a Petzl Nao+ and find the beam pattern much better. This relates to when running on trials in complete darkness.
I used my Nao+ to run through the night (on the UTS race) from about 9pm until sunrise, with about a 45 minute break. I probably turned it off around 5am? When I put it on to charge a day or so later, one of the 3 charge lights were still on, so I assume that means it had around 30% battery left. I am very pleased with the Nao+

Thanks for the review Claire. Every time I've run and hiked in an event at night, I seem to get caught in rain and/or fog. One time last year (in a 50-mile event) the fog was so terrible - my headlamp shined the light back into my eyes and I couldn't see a thing. How do you deal with a foggy night using a headlamp/torch? I had to take it off and use it like a flashlight near to the ground. I could still barely see where I was going. I understand that some people put lights on their shoes? Just curious.

Hi can you please tell me if you can turn the light off by holding the button down at any stage for example you have bright light then red light then strobe and you want to turn it off before it reaches strobe

Hi can you tell me if your left RGB (red green blue) light bulb is there or if it's working. My one is left empty and I'm not sure if my one is faulty

I don't understand why everything needs an app these days... I got a thrunite th10 for about £50. Solid aluminium body, 850ish lumens, waterproof. Lasts around 9 hours on the 180 lumen setting which is ample brightness. Wouldn't buy one that's plastic as chance of it being dropped from head height is high.

Having blue tooth an a app is pointless, its a torch people not a space shuttle you wont good solid run times easy battery change in the dark and waterproof easy to use switch! Its not hard petzl/led lenser but keep trying you will catch up one day😂

Wild Ginger Running my issue is my phone doesn't have space for all these dozens of apps 😂🤦‍♂️. They'll be an app for controlling your dishwasher next 🙄

Thanks for the review: too many negatives to add this torch to my shopping list! I have a basic LED Lenser SE0 B5R bike light which I've also added a headstrap to. It was cheap in TK Maxx! It's ok for local night trail runs, has adjustable beam, but not comfy without buff or hat and need something better. I also know people who did the Spine Challenger with similar running SE0 7R (both take AAA and USB battery): again, not that comfy and battery doesn't last long. If you're getting more lights in for testing I would be interested in the Silva Trail Runner 4 Ultra, Alpkit Qark and Petzl Nao! I got the Petzl Myo recently for half price. Not had chance to test fully yet, but so far it's quite comfy and has extra top strap, although a bit heavy as takes 3xAA batteries. Beam can be diffuse or focused, but I'd like it to shine further e.g to other side of a field would be good! It says max lumens 280 lasts for 50 hours and that's why I got it really for ultras. Boost 370 but I can't tell the difference! Would still like something brighter and lighter though - I'm never satisfied! The NAO only comes with USB battery so when mandatory kit for races says torch plus spare batteries doesn't that mean you'd have to buy an extra battery?? Sounds like you just carry an extra torch. Having to control stuff with app also sounds a bit of a faff to me. Who can be arsed getting their phone out mid-run??

@@wildgingerruns thanks. I would quite like to try the Nao, but need to find a bargain - with all this kit long distance running is turning out to be an expensive hobby! Keswick was a race of two halves. Really enjoyed the first half, including all the climbing I usually struggle on, but then found from Rosthwaite to finish a bit of a slog. And still want more cushioning in the Roclites for those flatter, harder trails. At least the laces stayed fastened though! Got Lakeland Trails Coniston Marathon on Sunday so may ask the Inov8 team there for laces tips lol.

@@wildgingerruns thats the thing petzl and led lenser are not quality they are overpriced and poorly designed. The neo has a battery thats poor capacity and petzl charge upwards of £70 for a battery thats only £9 to buy! Go look on candlepower forum or budget light forum and see what other better cheaper brands are about theres a ton of good ones. Every petzl light i have owned (from the zoom to the nao) have been crap plastic rubbish and have all broke in no time my nitecore hc50 is 6 years old has been to alaska in -20 and my kids now kick the crap out of it never missed a beat, and its better than the last gen nao even though it came out years before it.
