It figured if you like drag racing what I assume to be mustangs you must know a thing or 2 about dragging slow anchors lol. I'm just teasing. It's not about what you drive but rather how you drive it. Keep it rubber side down and be safe.
these anchor and bouy combinations are used to hold the large tanker or tender ships close to oil rig you see in the background. I think they are doing maintenance checks and re setting the anchor spot.
Awesome video thank you so very very much!... The guys that do this type of work are amazing, made respect to you all for keeping all the services we take for granted running 24/7.......absolute heros
The public should be made aware of just how difficult and how great a job these folks and companies are doing keeping our tanks filled and our homes heated etc .
only 4 point anchoring system? that's a bit weak, with my little experience of 15 years, I have always seen minimum 8 anchors for the drilling-rigs or boat hotel. It is quite common to break the anchor steel cable, it often happens.
@@raphael6896 if thats true then you know the original term for it was exactly what I said. 4 point anchoring. Then they got fancy and called it geo positioning. Don’t matter how many anchors you use because it refers to points on the rig or vessel and cardinal directions.
Go git ‘em Diamond offshore 👍🏻 and there are 8 of these that keep the rig on location most of the time ,but if they start slipping and they add piggy backs that number can and will go up and also during hurricane season they sometimes will piggy back some of them , also this will go on for 3 days to a week according to how many anchor boats they have ,and there is very little sleep that happens during this time ,yes they get paid well for there time , but they earn every dime of it , yes I retired after 37 years offshore 32 with DODI , do I regret my time on the rigs ? Hell no , would I do it again ? Hell no .
Last week, there was an ancre for sale at our local recycled products shop. A good one, the plough model, it digs in great. I though it was a big one. And now I see this ancre.
Please… Modern ship anchor handling? This is off shore rigs anchor handling.. This is not what would happen on as an example Evergreen Ace or any other merchant ship. This is offshore rigging.
It was probably just moved to a different location after having been dragged off location by bad weather. I worked on one of these boats in the 80's and most of the time the anchors would get moved when a hurricane came through.
I pull my anchor by hand one arm that is, as that’s all I have since I was 21 years old. 27 pound plus chain, this I do multiple times some days to keep out of the weather and other things, turning 57 this year and so called good arm is not so good these days, bloody well worn out I think!😂
Pipelay Barge LB200 (formerly Viking Piper) 14 winches fitted with up to 11,000 feet of 3 inch dia steel cable. The anchors are constantly recovered and redeployed to allow the pipelay vessel to pull itself along the pipeline route
This has absolutely nothing to do whatsoever with any merchant ship. But it does have absolutely everything to do when anchoring different types of platforms in different oil patches. I shall take the liberty to list them because your garden variety individual doesn’t have a clue, about anything that pertains to the oil-patch. On-land or, Offshore. Jack-up-Rigs. Semi-Submersibles-Rigs. Fixed Platforms. Spar-Platforms. Tension-Leg-Platforms.
Merchants are from Venice. Anchor cables do not care who paid all these bills. And from which bloody poor country the seamen come, this time. Anchors are anchors.
Who cares? The engineers building it. For the rest of the world it is just a cork on top a lot of bloody dirty oil. We don't want oil anymore. Burning it is stupid. At least produce things like composite materials from that oil. You can recycle those like forever. Refine and burn oil, then it is gone forever, that is not exactly smart. Ever thought of it that way? All the work done on platforms is completely wasted some time later, when the fuel is burnt. What an insult to the workers. Worthless job, in the end.
I used to work for Swire Pacific - When was this video recprded? Pretty sad to see no net cvering the skip bin so any rubbish can blow in the ocean... shame Swires...
THIS IS HOW I MADE MY LIVING AS AN OCEAN TASK SHIP CAPTAIN FOR 23 YEARS ... WORKING ANCHORS WAS ACTUALLY AN ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE !
No idea whats going or why I watched the entire thing. Don't even own a boat.
Same here!
How did I get here?😂
Lol. Same. 😂
Same ! 😂😂😂

It would be nice to have a diagram showing how all this works together, the title doesn't really make any sense...
yes it seem like they cut the anchor loose
Boy!!!! The equipment sure changed since the days of the pelican hook and the buoys with cross trees on them.thole pins were straight up and down.
Them-Dot-Thole pins? What were you tonking? I have none.
4 point anchoring system for a semi submersible oil rig. 4 of these keep the rig on exact gps location by tightening/loosening each anchor cable.

So what exactly were they doing to the anchor in the first part? Why pull it up?
@@raphael6896 The ones that I was around in the 80's also had 8 anchors that often had some break loose usually when a hurricane rolled through.
Thankyou for explaining what this is all about.
I couldn't make no sense from video title.
I've always wanted to live near water...where the sky ends and the ocean begins...so many things to think about ....thank- you 💘😻
Really great hatsapp miracle heartly hatsapp u all 👌🤝🎉😍👌👍🏻💐🌸 really great hatsapp hard working 💐
I like this ship ahts

Trabalho de muita responsabilidade e comprometimento. Parabéns, a todos os tripulantes. Fiquem na paz! 👍🏻🙏🏻
Very good job, GOD BLESS all AB.
whys the the oil rig in background fallen over!!!
At about 5 minutes the music we all know and hate starts. You’ve been warned.
Very good job mes amis
I WOULD USUALLY WORK 6 - 8 ANCHORS IN EACH EVENT
Last week, there was an ancre for sale at our local recycled products shop. A good one, the plough model, it digs in great. I though it was a big one. And now I see this ancre.
So, it was a French anchor?
I was enjoying this video and then that awful, unnecessary music started. That's when I stopped watching. I didn't want to see another music video.
Extremely dangerous work.
HOW are these deck workers paid ? Hour , weekly salary.....and how MUCH do they make ?????
Enjoyed the video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
The anchor only holds the chain down, the chain is what anchors the ship
Gracias por la exposición
Wow amazing kill
I miss this work very much
Why not go back to it??
🌀🌊 Safety first ⚓👍✨
Yep!

you seem hurt by this? What's the problem with it?
That was so great, right up to the point where that horrible music started.
Been barge handling many times certainly keeps you fit
Learn English. They are moving sea bouys and their anchors.
Still using tires, (on the black buoy), how avant-guard’! 😉
If it ain't broke, don't fix it
High risk and heavy duty dangerous job no understand what they are doing but must have take care.
Gostei muito de vê o símbolo da Petrobrás.
Handling anchors for my old barge Acergy Piper (Ex LB 200)
WOW...
Nice vid thanks, what is the yellow tool on the roller on the thumbnail please? Is it a boulder clearance plough?
Kn plan on on kkl lol llłkkkk
Why not use gps and autopilot to hold a position?
Hardly modern...there no anchor handling cranes on deck😆
What was done to the anchor once on board?
It was probably just moved to a different location after having been dragged off location by bad weather. I worked on one of these boats in the 80's and most of the time the anchors would get moved when a hurricane came through.
👍👊😎
Nice

No wood protection on the deck?
Steel roller on the back and the centre of the deck is steel

Это я так понимаю судно для подъёма якоря?
You made an awfully complicated title for nothing. Lol. I’ll just stop watching now.
The music at 5:01 ruined the video
2.33. The rig on the horizon doesn’t look very happy. Any knowledge?

Incredible Modern Monster Ship Anchor Handling Offshore Technology,
NOT a ship anchor. That is a platform anchor.
Again with the irrelevant, unnecessary and irritating music. Fail.
High risk job
High income too....
Nice job
Hellooo
Não vi nada demais.

Man all this crap in the video distracted me from the awesome music.
But why don't they use a big winch and gears attached to the ship's drive shaft.
Cause if something happened like they dropped an anchor by accident, they could potentially be stranded with a broken drive shaft not able to move...
The music made this unwatchable
Mad respect not made ha ha ha doh
Вообще нехре..а не понятно! Что за процессы!
