I have your book Ginger, and my great granny lived on Fernley Road, and my Nins friend Kathleen had the flat down the side of the car sales, so I spent a lot of time in the yard visiting Rummy and his mates, with a pocket full of mints!

I think everyone from Southport, of a certain age, loves Rummy! 💙 My mum's friend's husband, Mike Savage painted his portrait, which hung above the door in what was then The Red Rum Bar in Southport, then The Carleton

Thoroughly enjoyed this mini documentary, with lots of footage I've never seen before :) Love listening to the great character and trainer, Ginger McCain talking about his beloved Rummy. Two Kings of Aintree and legends that will never be forgotten xx

No mention of his brilliant jockey Brian Fletcher

Fletcher was a better national jockey than stack.with brian on board rummy would have won in 1976.

Real shame we didn't get chance to see tiger roll attempt a third win in the national I don't think he was badly handicapped this year he had a decent chance
