I think the reason rapid trigger needs debounce is because the spring forcing the switch back up after a press has a bit of bounce in it, which the hall effect sensors will definitely pick up.
My Fluxpad v2 finally arrived today after a delay of delivery (international shipping). These rapid trigger keys are so light and yes I saw a huge improvement over my custom keyboard. Generally I am not an active osu player and only top 300k, but I managed to hit some new high scores on maps I used to grind for a long time - with 1-5 tries. Be aware that it’s true - this won’t make you a top player out of nowhere, but this device basically eliminated the issues I had with my keyboard (long actuation points, tall keycaps for better sound at typing).
i've had a fluxpad v2 for a bit now, It's really really nice for stamina. since i tap both less violently, knob is not much of a problem for me personally at all but i could see people who tap aggressively might have a problem with it. for binding inputs, you can also just tap which key on your keyboard you want instead of having to scroll through for it. really been enjoying using my fluxpad v2, and honestly, i really like the aesthetic and the build quality. tho outside of main 3 lights that i have set to static colors, i just have the tapping lights off.
Like your description,to the point, the same to me,very nice, and feel so comfortable using it,and enjoyable just looking at it due to its aesthetics design
im a new viewer who has gotten into rhythm games and i see that you havent uploaded in a while. ive been binging and enjoying your videos the past few days and i hope everything is well on your end. these videos have been enjoyable!
It's not weird that the program isn't signed apparently it costs like a few hundred to a thousand dollars to properly sign a program. Most apps on MacOS aren't signed so you need to dig through the settings to let it through.
Omg, new video finally. Will you do a Lazer update video? They changed mania to reflect as it was on stable and if you disable discord in game overlay, the cursor input isn't that bad. The input when you stream on discord is really bad imo, hope when it's time they will optimize it even more
can't wait for you to get and review sayopad o3c. I was gonna buy one until I awakened my true speed potential on a membrane keyboard plus the added flex on dunking anyone who has rapid trigger keebs. it's a wonderful feeling, even better if they're higher ranked than me even though its petty but i will take all the Ws I can
Hi Tokaku , if you are planning to review the sayopad's rapid trigger keypad I would recommend getting the updated 4k one. Improved build quality and its ard 40sgd
i wonder why dont people make more 4k keypads?? they would be so useful both for standard and mania i need one so bad the ones ive found werent as cheap as the regular ones
I have one of these and it's p good. Compared to the SayoDevice, it looks better, has easier configurability, lighter magnetic switches, has five keys over only three which is nice for shortcuts such as pause, toggle leaderboard, smoke, retry. But SayoDevice so damn cheap god dayum, I guess it depends on what you want hey
debouncing isn't always about the contacts in a switch sometimes its about the programming of a switch, which I think that is what it is here. When a switch is pressed it registers being pressed every cycle of the cpu so you'll have tons of presses, it would be hard to type single letters on switches without debouncing. Debouncing adds a timer after the first activation of a switch where it does not register another activation until the timer has passed. I think debouncing has to be done with every programmed momentary button in existence, even buttons on websites that have no physical form. Almost every keyboard has debouncing, if you hold down a key you'll see a delay before it starts to spam that key, that is also debouncing.
This kind of debounce you're talking about happens on the level of the operating system, though. There are cases where you would want the keyboard to constantly register as having a key held down, including in (rhythm) games. When you press a key down while typing in some text, the OS registers it as a keypress, but it doesn't keep spamming the key until the key is held down for a certain amount of time. However, internally, the OS is still keeping track of whether the key is pressed down or not, which is why games allow you to press and hold a key to move and it will still register as being held down immediately, since they don't handle keypresses and holds the same way that it would when the user is typing text. You can tell that it's the OS that handles this because you can change the delay and rate of key repeating in the OS settings.
@comradetab9291 I was speaking from experience having made a 2 button keypad for osu from scratch. It was hand wired without any filtering and ran on an arduino pro micro. The debouncing needed to be programmed into the mcu. Without the debouncing I could clearly see that it spammed the key without any delay immediately in something like say a google url bar.
also even if the hardware has a debounce programmed in you can still have the os make it seem like there is no debounce if you overwrite the delay for the next letter press.
i am using a ant esport cheap keyboard which has polling rate of 125 hz i would really like to but it cuz it got 1000hz shit !!!! and rapid trigger and all that stufff this would be a real sweet upgrade and a sweet deal for me
I would like to point out that the red switches are not "gateron cherry mx" as cherry and gateron are 2 different brands of switch. These are just gateron
"So, in conclusion, should you buy this thing? Only if you want to." Hahaha. Thank you for leaving it up to me. I would run to get one if you would have ordered me to do so.
the main reason i prefer keypads for osu is the freedom of movement for my hands. with only two switches on my o2c i could just go all out without caring that i would end up pressing other buttons with my fingers. what makes me not want to buy these keypads is the amount of useless keys on them. what's the point of the knob? the two non rapid trigger buttons? why? and they're all cramped together, that's so pointless. i wish someone made a cheap rapid trigger keypad with two keys only, or have some small buttons too like the o2c. unfortunately it seems everyone is too busy copying wooting and only doing 3 button keypads or bigger these days.
it's a common misconception is that less keys = cheaper. Understand that the chips used for these can support an entire keyboard. So yes, $60 keyboard PCBs are a scam. They cost $20.
It’s actually not useless at all. Many (if not most) players uses Pause and Retry (fast) if they go for a new highscore/better combo, so it makes sense to include 2 additional buttons (which is also the reason why I purchased this over the Wooting UwU). Otherwise you would have to switch your hand to your main keyboard all the time. It’s pretty convenient since you’re actually able to use keypad and mouse/tablet only for osu.
I hate it how they have this design with the knob and with some cherry mx red switches because my keys I use to tap are f and b. I know most players don't have keybinds like this, but its sad to see these companies cheaping out to make their product seem better than it actually is.
I have both sayodevice with 4 keys and the Fluxpad V2, it may be placebo effect but I felt that the fluxpad is a little bit more responsive, also in both pads I’m rocking the same switches which they are the GEON Raptor HE and still the Fluxpad feels a little nicer😅
can someone please just make one that doesnt have the knob right on top of the furthest left key, I tend to not hit the keys right in the middle a lot and will accidentally just hit/scrape my finger along it and i dont wanna remove the knob to be able to use it properly
I am ranked around 400 in 4k mania (or delta if you know what that means) and im not really sold on rapid trigger. Is it really worth it? I use a membrane keyboard right now and I dont know if its worth it to buy two keypads. Is rapid trigger all placebo or will it actually help with 4k?
Rapid trigger is actually useful and it helps a lot. I play 4k and I can say you notice the difference. Like the other reply I got a wooting 60he and its very worth it but it might be a better use of money to just get a rapid trigger keyboard rather than 2 keypads.
I love all these loose bits of info and stuff... Am I an electronic or mechanical engineer? Hell no. Do I play rhythm games any more? Rarely. Do I like learning weird technical stuff? Heck yeah, gimme and thanks! :3

What keypad and switches were used at 8:42?
would be nice to see pressure sensitive keys be utilized in more pc games.
it really wouldnt it would be super gimicky because this technology is not widely spread yet
my razer analog one can bind keys to controller triggers but still its a way too niche feature

I'd assume the Lekker switches are rebrands of the Gateron KS-20s, not the other way around.

lekkers switches are made by Gateron, so...
