I'm happy to see the back of that egotistical idiot. The biggest reason he never got another chance at the playoffs has to do with the fact that he wouldn't even give the players a chance to question him properly without ejecting someone.
yep that was my guess too. But you put it much more succinctly whereas I wrote a ling story in the comments section about it😂. But I knew I could not have been the first to think that!
He may not have been the worst statistically, but he was the perfect storm of incompetent, shorted tempered and egotistical. I am sure all 30 teams have a catalog of all the times Angel screwed them over.
Short tempered ?!? He was calm all heck. That's what the player's hated. While they were losing their 💩, he would look at them make a fool of themselves.
Angel got a boatload of a payday to not have to listen idiot fans who don't know wtf they're talking about when it comes to officiating. Enjoy paying extra for Broadcast rights now because the cost will be passed onto you.
Now I’m convinced All pro-sports are rigged, today MLB lost a lot fans , he is the main reason I watch the lame game anyway. I think he was paid to call the game the way he did and it’s time to retire. I liked his composure considering he’s dealing with immature ppl. Managers/ players /fans etc… a nd the guts to stand for his convictions. Be nice to see the two ppl I love to admire cause of their errant follies Him and Biden , retire and marry each other, can you imagine …. Mr and Mrs Angel and Josephine Hernandez
Before I start celebrating? NO. CELEBRATING IMMEDIATELY!!

Missed most of last-season on medical, came back long enough to be rated statistically near the bottom of his profession. Long LONG overdue! To all baseball fans: pop open a beer today and celebrate!
well now this is interesting. The algorithm recommended your small channel video to me before ESPN’s or Jomboy’s or Baseball Doesn’t Exists videos… which have either been made or shall be forthcoming. So, bravo to you sir on that accomplishment.
I feel like some of Angels calls at end of career were just on purpose like he knew it was a ball but called a strike & vise versa just to spite mlb because he lost another lawsuit also after watching this video I think he’s a lil delulu as well
Things that make you say Hmmmm? Ever since gambling on baseball was legalized in some states seems umpiring got worse. I wonder why? I also wonder why Angel was so bad before this gambling was legal. Hmmmm? I also wonder why the bad calls were almost always in big spots in the game. Lots of 3rd strike bad calls also. Called out looking. Hmmmm?
He may have retired, but the negative effects both him and Joe West left in the MLB will be felt for a long time. They should just fire both of them to make an example that fans come to watch the games for the baseball players, not someone who failed at becoming one, and has developed an entitled attitude.
Another “highlight” of Angel’s was last season where he called a swing on Bryce Harper that he clearly checked, which got him rung up. He got so pissed off that a kid in the stands got his helmet and later got it signed. I was listening to it on the radio when it happened, and even I was annoyed because their description painted a perfect picture of it.
You said the game was near the end of April when speaking about the Phillies fighting for a playoff spot. I think you meant to say September. Either way, good commentary vid. New sub here.
There already is... CB Bucknor, Laz Diaz, and there are others that are statistically as bad or even worse this season. It's like they're all main characters in an anime, the world revolves around them and they want to make sure everybody knows.
Can you imagine what might have been if Hernandez worked for NASA during the space race? I have had 5-way bypass surgery in the past. What if he was on my surgical team and his medical license couldn't have been revoked. One thing I don't understand is an organization that makes it difficult, if not impossible, to fire any employee who is so incompetent that they negatively affect whatever they are involved in. Major league baseball was the laughingstock of the sports world as long as Hernandez was allowed to umpire the games.
Good job, Angel! A wide strike zone, but nothing wrong with speeding up games and getting batter's bats off their shoulders. Wishing you peace and happiness in your well-deserved retirement.
I will miss the Jomboy lip-reading The sweeper by Hader against Schwaber could have come across the plate and then been caught outside but since he blew 15 - 20 calls previously in the game to that one he get no leeway from Schwarber. I wish the strike zone box was not two-dimensional and we could see a 3D version of it. This would tell us how bad they really are. Or how good an umpire is.
how do you feel about baseball doesn't exist's video on him not being the worst, or even as bad as everyone says? if you haven't seen it, i recommend it.
his points make sense! i think its a really good video. I just think the title of being the worst umpire will never leave him just because of the court case and his bad moments being so viral it wont matter.
I wouldn't call him the worst (hello there CB Buckner) but for the high profile the games (playoffs, national TV) he got far worse. His regular season stats were not as bad as we would think but his innate ability to "choke" when the spotlight is on (his three missed calls at 1B in the playoffs has to be by far one of the worst performances ever) really dragged down his reputation.

Needs to be an investigation, or a documentary about Angel. Should have been gone years ago.
i feel like this is one of those things where, behind the scenes, they go, you either retire “legitimately” or we go ahead and proceed forward with the Union’s process of action against you to get rid of you. Because you already lost a frivolous lawsuit to us once before. So… yah so I definitely do not have any evidence for that at all. I am but one random fan. That’s just the feeling that I get. Based on all the very bad press coming out on him recently, and him continuing to be terrible umpire, and all the bad press bleeding over onto the official MLB itself. Yah… I am ok with speculating without evidence… speculating that somebody behind the scenes said something to him, telling him to go ahead and retire. Hang it up. Whatever. And we the fans may never actually know either because, they usually sign non-disclosure contracts about keeping mum on the subject. Contracts which are legally binding. Contracts which have legal consequences for not keeping silent on the subject. Sooooooo yah that’s my two cents of speculation all that.
This is for the best. I felt bad for the hate he got but he made some pretty bad calls over the years. Apparently he is a great guy outside of baseball though, so maybe he can go be great all the time now that he is retired.
Angel Hernandez should receive a lifetime ban from baseball. Barred from every MLB stadium for the rest of his life! He was a disgrace to the game of baseball.
Everybody that’s complaining about Angel Hernandez. Great this is just one little step towards AI taking over that position as umpires in baseball. soon to destroy the game. Part of the game is the human air element.
The difference between the pitches shown and actual strikes is very close.. Sadly, the players are to blame.. was the call wrong.. well, replays show that.. but he don't get to use replay and believe me at 90+ MPH.. they don't look that bad.. but arguing is a NO DOUBT rule violation. Still, I think his retirement and the fact he's not worked games in 3 weeks seems like he may have gotten another concussion and retired was deemed medically necessary..
Thank, for the great news, this guy and I won't even call him a umpire because he not, there's a young 8 maybe 9 who puts him to shame, and if this young boy continues on this course I can see him either being a MLB umpire or BB referee, any one who hasn't seen him check it out.
Actually, Angel Hernandez is saving baseball and people will start watching baseball again. He was bad beyond repair without tha abilities to improve. In any profession there are benchmarks to find out how the person is performing but he was really, really bad.😂
Hernandez is awful, but I'm not really sure why you picked that Russell Martin example to feature. That actually was a strike. The side view clearly shows it coming in above the left knee, and it was on the inside corner. 🤷🏻
btw… has anyone done a video on the best umpire in baseball? like analyzed the numbers to find out who the real quiet professional who does a good job is? I wann know who that guy is. I wanna honor and shower him with accolades.
It wasn't just angel Hernandez who messed up and ruined games bruh it was multiple umpires which they were caught calling runs as outs when players on all bases or which base the player was on was counted as an out instead of safe and runs some runs were being called off due to interference when they're wasn't no interference at all
Bruh I don't understand umpires if theirs no interference and no doing anything against the play and player on the other team why are you calling interference and block when the player is doing the right thing
How do you guys feel about angel hernandez? happy or what
Happy as heck
Can we add Rob Manfred?
Laz also
I think you should change that title you POS
I'm happy to see the back of that egotistical idiot. The biggest reason he never got another chance at the playoffs has to do with the fact that he wouldn't even give the players a chance to question him properly without ejecting someone.
This is the best thing Hernandez has ever done for baseball .
My guess is the automated balls/strikes were showing just how bad he actually was and Angel was told he was gonna get fired with cause.
yep that was my guess too. But you put it much more succinctly whereas I wrote a ling story in the comments section about it😂. But I knew I could not have been the first to think that!
Automated balls and strikes and all his calls had him in the middle of the pack by MLB evals
He may not have been the worst statistically, but he was the perfect storm of incompetent, shorted tempered and egotistical.
I am sure all 30 teams have a catalog of all the times Angel screwed them over.

Every player's stats just improved over night!
Based on the names mentioned in these comments, it’s a good rule of thumb that if you recognize an umpire’s name he’s probably not very good.
Except many broadcasts show umpire’s names
Perfectly said. If any official is doing their job well, they blend into background and aren’t noticed, let alone remembered by name.
The one exception I can think of is Pat Hoberg.
@@silmarian Lol, you kind of proved my point, I’ve never heard of Pat Hoberg. I’m guessing he’s pretty good?
@@michaelb7491 Yeah, he is amazing behind the plate.
First Joe West retires, now Angel Hernandez.....I might start watching baseball again!!!!!
LOL this is an amazing comment
I won't watch baseball until the pitchers stop acting like p****** and hitting a batter just because the previous batter hit a home run.
Yes! Hallelujah! The umpires union probably asked him to retire so that people stop talking about robo umpires.
I called him Angel Horrendous 🤣
Now I’m convinced All pro-sports are rigged, today MLB lost a lot fans , he is the main reason I watch the lame game anyway. The good news for Angel is that there are lots of job opportunities out there for the blind.
MLB pension and gifts from friends down in Vegas/Mexico/Colombia/Italy. He'll be fine
Do what Whitey Herzog did. He gave Don Denkinger a Braille Watch. 😆🤣
@@homespuncovers89 That is the perfect retirement gift for an umpire.
As bad as this guy was, at least he never cost a pitcher a perfect game by making a terrible call on the last out of the game. That would be Joyce.

He finally makes the "Right Call" 🖕
LOL
No replay needed this time!
Although Angel is now gone we still have to endure with Hunter Wendlestedt, C.B. Bucknor, Vic Carrapazza and others.
You ask me to be civil and respectful after a Headline Caption to a video like this ?!? GFY
Controversial? No! Crummy? Yes!
now we need to clean out crooked refs in hockey
I’m not convinced that Angel was crooked. I am convinced that he was incompetent.

ME: HALLELUJAH!!! PRAISE THE LORD! IT'S TIME TO GET DOWN AND FUNKY!!!!
He was terrible and made bad calls with a short fuse
You made my day. Thanks
That clown actually sued MLB cause they didn't give him Post season games!
Laz Diaz and CB Buckner should follow suite, and also call it quits!!!
"Before you start celebrating..."
Too late. Have been since the moment his retirement was announced. MLB probably told him "retire or get fired." 😂

ya thats what i meant! that part of the video is from my other video from around december and forgot to mention that in the pinned comment thank you!!
he's gone but there will be another Angel hernandez like umpire somewhere
There already is... CB Bucknor, Laz Diaz, and there are others that are statistically as bad or even worse this season. It's like they're all main characters in an anime, the world revolves around them and they want to make sure everybody knows.
I recently saw a game with Bill Miller behind the plate. He was awful.
Yes! He finally saw the strike zone and knew he was out!
Every baseball player celebrating like they won the world series
No! I loved talking about how bad he was. It made me feel like I belonged to a larger fan base. One that all united to hate him.

The Worst Umpire in Baseball (HISTORY) Has Retired. YAY!!!!!!
Would MLB be obligated to take him back if he wanted that? I doubt they'd want to.
I am gonna miss him vs Aaron Boone
Cheers Everybody!
Yea he was so good the NHL offered him a better contract 😂. He’s top tier in their eyes.
Angel can get a job at Skilcraft making government ink pens.
This will go down as one of the greatest moments in baseball history.
