  • In this video I attempt to demonstrate the concept of compensating for lag. Everything you see happening in the game on your screen is delayed based on how high your ping is. In order for your moves to hit and to avoid hits your self, you have to act preemptively. Don't swing for where they are, swing for where they are going to be. If you see an enemy charging at you from 5 ft away, react as if they are actually 3 ft away. By learning to compensate for lag in this game you will notice a dramatic improvement. Hits will land better, your timing will improve, and your footwork will improve as well.

    Jedi Academy is one of the few Star Wars games where player's are required to use the force to be successful. In order to hit your opponent you must have jedi reflexes, by seeing things before they happen.

      Thank you for watching, I'm glad it was able to help. I thought of what I should tell players first and I thought showing them lag compensation was important because without it everything will miss. Hope your ping isn't too high, I see good players still play with high ping though

      @@Mon3yman228 i personally have around 180 ping in my fav server, so most duels i just get instakilled by sabers that are like 5 feet away from me lmao

    So It's like shooting at a moving target you got to aim ahead the way they're moving, and depending on the ping (will be like how far away from your target you are) will be how much you need to lead the shot.
    You have to be the lag compensation, unlike with more modern games which have it built in.

      Correct! But as bad as Jedi Academy netcode might seem, it's still better then some fighting games netcode like Tekken or Smash lol

      @@Mon3yman228 haha, yeah It doesn't surprise me that some games are spaghetti code when it comes to their netcode, they put most of their time and effort into making things look good, but they're like "it's good enough" when it comes to the network side of things.

    Thanks so much!!! this helped a bunch never knew about this. My pin iis around 70 or 80. Does the lag always happens no matter what ping you're at? TommyBong {EJO}

      There is always lag, but the lower your ping the less lag you will have. 70-80 ping is pretty decent.

    The lag is real.my connection Is so bad. But I got that fanning down on blue. You got any tips on different ways to practice the fanning? can I do it while moving forward?

    • @Mon3yman228

      You can fan moving forward by turning your character sideways. For example if you fan right, turn your character right so he moves forward. It is very hard to do this on console.

      You need to use a client that can see the alternate master servers, such as OpenJK or EternalJK. Or manually connect to an individual server via IP.
