Thanks for your videos. My daughter just was accepted into the vocal program and is excited. I would like to know if when you transferred, did you transfer to another public school or did you decide to go to a private school, and did you continue attending school in the NY Metro area?
omg sorry this is late, but i heard that if you move to new york after auditions but before september, you could still audition. is this true? (and if it is would it be harder to get in because they already accepted students and have filled seats?)
To attend the school you have to live in one of the 5 boroughs of nyc. I don’t know about the whole moving thing but you have to be a resident of NYC to attend.
Ok everyone. LaGuardia is one of the specialized high schools of nyc (similar to stuy and bxsci but it is a performing arts school) So, you must live in one of the 5 boroughs of NYC to qualify. Also, you can audition for multiple majors (i.e drama, vocal, fine arts etc.). But you can only pick ONE major.
I’m very nervous because I’m auditioning for 10th grade later this fall in the fine arts department but my grades weren’t the best in 8th grade so can I still make it in the school even is my grades were a bit below average. Also how many incoming sophomore seats are there?
Hi! idk if you're still interested, but regardless of what year you come into LaG, it's going to be a little rough if you're coming in on your own. I personally went through this freshman year and it's definitely hard at first, at least for me. It's a huge school though, and you're bound to find someone with similar interests to you in some of your classes (especially your art period where you already have a common interest!). It's going to be daunting entering such a huge school alone, but for the most part, everyone is super sweet and interesting and it's inevitable that you're going to make loads of friends! :D
hii, im an incoming freshman, but i did not make it into laguardia when i took the test in 8th. im planning to retake it in the beginning of 9th depending on whats going to happen bc of covid. any tips or advice? what are the chances that i get accepted the sec time i take it?
Gabriella Zheng OMG SAME 😭 I had the same question because I didn’t make it in 8th grade ether and I was planning to audition in 9th grade but because of COVID it’s not going to be the same thing as last year so I really don’t know how it’s going to be but I WISH YOU THE BEST IN LUCK!!!
Cookie Yellow, ahhh thank you!! i wish u good luck as well :) the test is going to be online according to the lag website, hopefully we can make it in!
It’s not an interview. They ask you what song you are going to sing and that it about it. They also play a melody/pattern on a piano and have you clap/tap it back to them.
@@jadeg1307 you can audition for as many as you want. My friend auditioned for vocal and acting. However you can only choose ONE if you get into multiple majors.
me as an australian watching this even though I know I'm never gonna go lmao
You never know, apply and take a chance
@@tytaylor1461 He can't it's for new yorkers anyway in a new york school.
Ángel’s Channel But what if i move to New York? Can i still go to Laguardia if i‘m not american?
Annalia Fabela yeah ofc! You have to be in the 5 boroughs queens Manhattan Brooklyn states island and the Bronx.
@@annaliafabela9846 if you move to nyc you can apply

Did you audition? I heard that the audition process was on zoom. Im curious. How did it go if you did?
i would love to go but i’m a 7th grader and i live in texas
but me and my mom would honestly love to live in nyc but it’s not that easy to move across the country u know?
I don't know why I'm watching this..I'm 11
I'm 11 too and it's ok to start looking at High schools now lol.
You can still look at it because I’m 12 going to 8th grade so and I started looking at this school like in December 😭😭
what do you have to do for vocal auditions
You sing a song and you do this thing where they play you a melody and you have to tap it out with these two sticks.
What kind of question do the judges say?
It’s not an interview. They ask you what song you are going to sing and that it about it. They also play a melody/pattern on a piano and have you clap/tap it back to them.
they accept people who already make 9 grade in other high school?:(
Are you asking if they accept rising 10th graders? They do it it will be harder. You can only apply in 8th and 9th grade.
Guys I actually have a video for auditioning for LaGuardia drama department please check it out .
Can you have two majors?
No. You can audition for multiple majors but if you get into multiple you have to pick one
@@lavenderhazel5125 wait you can audition for multiple majors? i thought you only do one
