- The patient today is Dakota, an American Paint (breed) 18 years old, who has a little tenderness in the withers, causing extreme twitching. Tight hamstring, misaligned poll, and lower cervicals, too.

RISING STARR HORSE RESCUE saves, rehabilitates, retrains and rehomes abandoned, neglected or abused horses and educate about at-risk horses and the importance of protecting them.
By giving America's horses a second chance at life we give the community the chance to experience the love, patience and compassion horses have for humans.
When Kelly Stackpole decided to open her barn to teach noncompetitive horse lessons in 2005, her goal was to bring her passion and love for these incredible animals to others and guide them toward finding a similar love and connection to horses. She did not expect, while looking for horses to fill her barn, to discover that young, sound and healthy horses as well as older horses were being disregarded and often sent off to slaughter. As soon as she became aware that any of the animals beloved to her were not treated in a humane way, she found another mission, and Rising Starr Horse Rescue was born.
Rising Starr relies on a group of talented and specialized veterinarians, chiropractors, staff, and volunteers who work together to approach each horse’s rehabilitation. This team of dedicated individuals ensures that every horse becomes healthy, happy, and confident before moving on to its new home.
Beyond restoring comfort and care to these horses, our purpose at Rising Starr is to inform others about the cruelty of horse slaughter while providing guidance on how to decrease the number of unwanted horses in the United States.
Every member of our program treats all of our horses with the love and respect they deserve - it's their passion. Our volunteers include many teens and children, as we hope that by raising children that are thoughtful and caring about the treatment of horses, we will have the biggest impact on the future of America's horses. Not only does RSHR have a Dedicated board but we are developing a Youth board to continue our work in the future.

It's always amazing to me how much pain horses can be in, but not outwardly manifest it unless it's so bad as to cause issues.
Yes, it's so true. As Prey animals, they will mask it to the end of the earth. I love horses. They are majestic souls.

It wouldn't be helpful for an animal in the wild trying to survive to acknowledge all its pain while being chased by lions and etc
Is it just me or does the horse seem mildly surprised and a little confused as to how, all of a sudden, they don't hurt anymore??

I had a shifted disk fixed and it's like WTF all this pain is 2 seconds from being gone?
Ingrown nails are similar... tiny 1mm improperly cut nail? crippling pain! until you manage to cut that 1mm tiny spot and instantly no pain... Tooth pain? cant chew? dentist finds a tiny shard of popcorn and you're good to go!

I love how the horse is so honest. Sometimes I feel like people give positive response to chiro work partially because they want to believe in it. Or that they are on camera. Can you trust it?

Sweet Dakota has been in pain for a long time. Seems to me that there are problems upon problems. You fix one problem and another one emerges. I expect at least two more Dakota videos, poor thing. You are coming to the root of all problems eventually. Lots of pain in this one, but you will help Dakota a bit more every time. At least you get a thank you at the end and now one from me. He is very sweet, and I love working with him. I agree, sometimes there are multiple layers. This would be an animal with many layers. I have been watching your videos for the past month and a half...as a owner and a equine hoof care/rehab individual , I have been using several of your pressure points on afew of my client equine s... very impressed with the out come, and how much easier it has become to get feet done !!! Thank you very much for your videos... I truly appreciate what you do to help the animals..... and help me to get my client s to relax more... Please keep sharing your videos.... And I will add, my two footed client owners are very happy with how much easier adding in this to get feet done,has made life easier on all three of us hoofcare provider horse and owner/handler..

This channel only very recently popped up on my suggested feed. I have to say, I find these videos that capture Doug's fine work have been a real tonic. Legitimately relaxing and utterly wholesome, so thank you for sharing your work.
Furthermore, I visited a great Chiropracter a few years ago (here in the UK), so not only can I relate to the sense of relief (I also felt a sense of Bliss afterward, hard to express, but a great side effect!) But I shall also make a point of booking myself an appointment as soon as finances allow. In my experience, worth every penny.

camera is keeping the horses attention. I was at a graduation party that was entertaining the kids with very short pony rides throughout the yard. It was a beautiful little stallion. Several kids had taken a short , tethered stroll through the shade trees when all of the sudden the horse reared and threw a little boy. No harm done , he just kinda rolled off. It seems that one of the kids in the group was using a drone about 30 yards away and everyone watched the horse lock attention immediately. They are aware of everything around them. Everything!

I haven't been watching you that long. I'm glad that I found your channel.
What amazes me is your ability to see how they react to their pain. The ears going back, their eyes blinking. Then once you found and corrected, their head drops, they chew and lick. I have this connection with my own animals. It never ceases to amaze me how similar all GOD'S creatures are.
I rub and feel of my animals all the time. It seems automatic and then one day, all of a sudden, there is a reaction to something that I have touched. It is comforting to watch you work. I feel gratitude for what you do for the animals. GOD bless

Dakota knew he was trying to help him and there was absolute recognition when the pain was gone. Amazing. There are some very tender pictures when you have your face near the horses face and it is very poignant. Thank you for caring so much about these animals and their well-being.

Dakota 3:28 Tender Withers, 3:44 T4 very tender spot.... but it seems what he was really needing was that 4:32 to 6:34 hold to take care of that twitching. Seems you got most of it. He looked like he wanted to give you a couple of good nudges at the end but we always try to buck those who help us the most. Have a nice weekend....Doc... you deserve it.

Dakota is so beautiful. He looks just like my Diamond boy did in the face with those kind eyes. I’ve had many horses in my life so far but I had a special connection with Diamond. Sadly, he died about 4 years ago but it was good to be reminded of him today.

I am scared of horses bc I have had first hand experience with how powerful they are. When you walked behind the horse I almost threw my phone. I am so glad that the baby "knew" you were trying to help bc that could have been some power thrown your way. Learning the horse language is helping me be not so afraid and since i have to do horse therapy for my kids, I am going to go binge watch some more horse from you. Thank you. It's amazing to see, that after you fix just 1 thing, the horse realizes that you are there to help not hurt, and the trust factor, even after abusive situations, they relax into the treatment,. But if you hit a sensitive area, with no voice, they can still communicate, *Hey Doc, that's tender!* I always love to see the moment of relaxation come over the horse, dog, cat, bird, pig or whatever animal it is. You can physically "feel" the release for them if that makes sense Doc. I have a question for you though. We have a Siberian Husky/Yellow Labrador Cross. When he's feeling well, his nose is moist, but warm to the touch. And he has a very sporadic vomiting issue, his nose then becomes cold and dry. Could I try that gastric relief pressure point on him to help him? Or would that make the issue worse. He is 8 years old. In great health, no hip issue, (I know, because as a former breeder of a large breed dog, the vet showed me how to check his hips), there is zero resistance in range of motion forward or back on all four. Just the periodic vomiting. So again, my question is, as a second degree martial artist and knowing pressure points, I wonder if that upper GI Pressure point would help or hinder him. Hi Jenn, thank you for watching this one, and part of the adventure for me is to bond with the horse,(or other animals), or build a bridge of trust. I have a long way to go, but I'm getting better every month.
I think you should definitely try to find your Husky/Labs Pressure point. It's not an exact science, if you get near the point, and palpate, you can find the spot. Then hold it for a long time. I would do it every day for awhile, and keep feeling his nose, too. It won't make him worse. He will love it. I bet you will see results, too!
