- Sony reader PRS T3 turns 10 YEARS OLD!
And actually... we are shocked as to how well it stands up to devices a decade later.

Sony readers are masterpieces, still use and taking with me along with smartphone, and instead of looking to smartphone reading one more book
Still using my T2 to date, which was essentially the same product. I’ve tried to convince myself lots of times over the years to buy a brand new reader but it’s obvious there was no need. I’d love to have a better ppi display and backlight but that was all we had at the moment. Long life to these readers!
Same, still use my prs T2. The only thing i miss is a backlight. I use a clip on lamp for that. It works. No need to upgrade because i love the size, buttons and usability.
@@asariyil Since my comment my loyal T2 was robbed so I had to buy a modern unit. And I confirm my thoughts. No real need to change… despite the kind features offered by the new readers. Nice but not essential.
@@asariyil hello I plan on buying this e book reader, any tips or is it easy to put books on it?
@@daniblues Could you help as well
@@MrHumanforlife do not buy it in 2024. Anyway it’s very easy to use.
The T1 was my first ereader! I still miss it - wish Sony was still making ereaders.
Still using my PRS T2 with original cover. It's a pretty nice device. I bought it 10.5 years ago 😅
How do you download books on it?
@@tonchita91 I'm doing it using calibre on my T3. It works with .epub with adobe-id but has problems with secured .pdf
@@tonchita91it has memory card support
@@tonchita91 Calibre app and PC
The best. I use my T3 everyday. I've had it for 10 years. I would like to find a new case. If anyone knows a store, I am going to buy a new one. Battery never dies.
Still have my T1 and it works. Definitely shows its age in page turns and processing. Loved how it took notes in the body of the book unlike the scribe. What’s hard is it would only charge by original cord direct to computer and even then it’s very finicky. The kobo store won’t support it anymore so it’s random epub stores.
I guess if you're in North america, yeah, you don't have access to the Sony Reader store. But it's still works in certain markets
can u help me figure out how mine works ? i got it from my cousin and in dont know how to had new books in it
@@celinemeriaux2459 you’ll need a program called calibre onto your computer. You’ll buy non drm books in epub and plug your T1 into computer directly. A hub will not work. Then it’ll recognize and you drag and drop books. You should be able to do library books similarly using double format.
Even the PRS T1 is still an amazing reader in 2023. Sony must’ve absolutely lost their mind when they dropped the range. Those things are hard to get even on eBay. In the UK a handful get sold each month but you’ll have to compete for them!People just don’t want to sell them, for several reasons: The versatility and ease of the use, the weight, battery life, the simplicity of design, the ease of uploading books. It’s a fantastic product. Just insane to stop production- they’re far better than kindles. Whoever made that decision was a fool.
Well they stopped making additional models, but they've always sold these even to this very day :)
Unfortunately it is not about quality, it is about profit
I found a Sony PRS 505 at my local Savers for 6.99 and I'm so happy I got it . The device there due to being broken. I been looking at the T3 I may buy i just love my 505. Thank you for the review
I had a prs t1, I still dream about it.
It can be yours again!
Post is driving force to boost the potential of "electronic reader" every body has not all branded e-readers but can familiarise about various types.
I still use my PRS-T1 and love it! 🙂😄
I have my e-reader sony T2, It is an eternal device
@@eloscar3333 so do I!
I'm curious about the T2,
did your browser still functioning now?
Yes it is :)
@@goodereader sorry, I'm not ask you the right question..
I mean, my T2 showing Data connecctivity problem dialog when accessing sites,
only google working.
do I need to upgrade to newer firmware, mine 1.0.04.11081.
@@ScaryGuyID I have the same problem with T3, but there are no new firmwareupdates anymore
I have a prs-600 but the e-ink display seems to have faded overtime. Does anyone have any ideas? I thought it would be the battery (to be replaced soon)
Owned a t3 years ago. Legendary product even in Chinese-speaking eink circles. Great form factor, great hardware. Shame it never picked up steam.
Replaceable batteries need to come back as a sustainability measure. And I’d also like to see Sony itself come back to e-readers. It feels like this should be the time for e-reading since it has such a lower carbon footprint than printed books.
During our table discussions, Michael brought it to our attention that one of the reasons Sony stopped making e-readers back in 2013, is because that's when e-readers died
There was a dead zone between 2013 and 2016 that e-readers suffered, with almost no innovation, engagement, and only a handful of releases
@@goodereader E-readers aren’t particularly suited to capitalism. People buy one and keep it for a long time. Which is another reason we need socialism.
@@christillI'm not sure I would be able to buy e-reader legally and for reasonable price, if my country wasn't turned from socialism 😅 after collapse of communist block. In this free market I got three e-readers on my own. With different features, and always thinking which new eink gadget better to buy next. Maybe eink phone 🤔
@@j4v3l73 Socialism is just the workers owning the businesses they work in. There’s no reason why you wouldn’t be able to have things like e-readers under socialism.
@@christillreason is.. you hardly could find em in social "market", except for "grey market", among other quite ordinary "capitalist products" with better quality, but selling them would be barely legal. Socialist "market"? no thanks we already had it in USSR
I just bought the kobo libra colour thinking technology must be better now after so long. but nope my t3 is still better! The screen is a lighter colour. I have to turn uo the light to even read on the colour libra. I am trying to find a case for my t3 but I can't find one. I have the light case on mine and now the back plate is missing for my reader.
This sony is faster than pocket book indeed
I still use a Pocketbook pro 602 from 2010 which is 13 years old. Old 4 copper contact phone batteries wll fit to power it.
amazing break down, thank you
I just discoverd your channel. Can you test the new TCL NXTPAPER 11 or 12 Pro?
We did.
We did over 10 videos on them
I got Sony PRS 350 with hard labour but it's for USA Europe Canada but I am in Saudi Arabia.
How can I excess to reader library? My expectations at "You" !
Se puede leer en la noche?? Es retro iliminado??
it has no lights
Has anyone a copy of Reader™ App for Mac M chips that works well? Cant upload books easily, all epubs are not recognized, is that possible?
The other argument is that ebook readers have gone nowhere in 10 years.
I don't understand why so much emphasis on note taking. I never take notes in printed books, never saw the need to take notes directly in the e-book I read.
InkpadX that has similar note taking capabilities as this 10year old sony, because of lacking features 10 inch reader is only 300grams. Pure e-reader without note taking capability - as distraction free as it gets.
Correct
Amazon’s Kindles really look cheap and nasty.
