It's a slow process... I have clients who won't let me go, and footage that never came out ;-)
Great video. Is it warm their as well as windy? What balloons would you recommend in warm temperatures.😊
yes, it does get warm, but not like in other places. It rarely breaks 100. For outdoors you always want to underinflate. I believe that the Tuf-Tex brand is known for doing well outside in weather though. But having said that, I rarely use them because my clients are often last minute and I have to get what I can locally . :~)
Hellooooo, is it safe to assume the emt is 10 feet tall?
Did you use only 2 260”s for the whole column when you tied them together?

Yes, 2 260s are more than enough. You will probably have 2/3 of one of them hanging off at the end :~)
I made some columns similar to these for a graduation a few weeks ago and my top balloon was going all over the place. I used the same technic you did to tie it on to my column and it just wasn't staying put. I don't know what I did wrong. 😞 Thank you for sharing this video. I thought I had watched all your videos...I guess I missed this one. 🙂
Who gets the job of popping all the balloons after the events? I would love to have that job! Like bubble wrap but on steroids haha

I mostly use Qualatex balloons because that's what I can get locally. Betallic is also a very good brand though :~)

How much in "advance" can you get away with blowing up all of the duplets prior to the event?
If you bag them, you can do it several days in advance. Air-filled balloons will last a long time :~)
How tall is the column and what's the price for one of those
Do you have a video on how to make number frames? I would like to see how you make a 2019 for graduation decor.
I might do one, but it wouldn't be in time for graduation this year. I'm mostly using columns with numbers on them.

only 2 260s for each column to hold it together. These are Qualatex balloons, underinflated. :-)

What’s the height of this columns?
How do you make sure all your balloons of the same size because I bought the machine with the number count and the Box and mine still don't come out the same size
Is your machine supposed to size the balloons or just count how many are inflated? The machine I use is the Conwin precision air machine :~)

What balloons do you use to maintain the boldness of the color when inflated? I have see demonstrations where you can double with a white or black balloon but hoping this isn't always necessary.
These are not double stuffed. I don't double stuff my balloons unless it's a really special reason, and then it doubles the time and the cost. In this video I'm using Qualatex Orange and Robin's Egg Blue balloons :~)

Hi Sandi, I'm curious to know if you leave the stands you make to your clients? I find myself having to go back to the venues after event to pick up my stands. :) appreciate your advice in advance
We always strike our own jobs (and charge for it). We don't want to leave a mess for the venue and want to make sure everything is properly disposed of :~)

How would I set up a balloon arch on a homecoming float? would I use the same methods?
Yes basically. You might want to tether the poles to the float instead
of using the baseplates but test it to see what's most stable for a
moving vehicle :~)
i’m having trouble with outdoor decor, been in the business for a long time. & our columns fell today i’m so disappointed & feel like i failed i live in south texas by the water so it’s windy 365 days out the year i’m close to just giving up outside decor

How do you keep them from oxidizing.
I have this same question
These colors don't really show the oxidization as much as other colors do, but I don't stop them from oxidizing. As long as all the balloons oxidize at the same rate, no one will really notice. So I just explain to clients that over time the balloons will take on a velvety patina :~)
How tall are the columns? And also do u need helium for the topper balloon?
The poles are 7', and the toppers are air-filled :~)

Well hello Md. Sandy, thank you as always for the tips! My question is do you like the organic arches better than the original ways where are all the balloons of the same size? Just curious.
I think that both have their uses. It really depends on the style and the lines that make the most sense for the needs of the event. I will say that classic decor (all balloons same size) is faster and more profitable ;~)
Do you have to use Tuff balloons or can you just use the regular balloons
Those are Qualatex balloons. Just make sure to keep them good and squishy :~)

Hi Sandy! I've been watching your videos for a while now and I love all your balloon creations! My question for you is: at what temperatures can helium and air filled balloons with stand? I live in San Antonio TX and it's very humid and temps can go over 105° in the summer and as low as 30° in the winter. I'm planning an August 80th 50s bday party for my grandmother and she would really love balloons outside but I'm a little leary of placing any balloons outside. Can you please help?
I live in San Diego, so I can't say I know much about extreme weather, but best practices for heat is to avoid dark colors and make sure you severely underinflate the balloons :~)

You showed how you connected then to your pole, but how did you actually get the columns up the steps and in place?
Take the weights off of them, put your hand between the balloons to grab the pole, pick it up and carry it. It's not heavy but a little awkward. Then place the weights back on the base plates. This is exactly why I don't put the weights in the center of the column over the pole, because then they are too heavy to easily move :~)

11" balloons sized to about 8" :~)
Would 3/4 inch pipe work?
For the main part of the column? Yes, but then you would need a 1" nipple and flange :~)

Hi there. Any suggestions for keeping the shine on the balloons when outdoors?
In my experience, the only solution for keeping the balloon’s luster fresh is spraying it with a coat of hairspray. However, many folks are more overtly environmentally conscious these days and may take offense to such flagrant use of aerosols. I try to build my arches and columns as close to the event as possible when balloons are freshest, but elemental exposure- induced chromatic dulling is unavoidable. Often times, many observers didn’t see the balloons beforehand so a faded balloons aesthetic is not perceived as an automatically stark contrast. Of course, Sandy will likely jump in and correct me, and then i’ll learn something, haha.

nope, you're spot on. I don't bother with trying to keep them shiny as it will just cause other problems, and as long as everything is equally oxidized, no one will notice anything different and just take it at face value :~)

@@gabriellaanne5419 look for a video on the Brazilian EZ method, I think that's what you're looking for. The video might be in Portuguese, but you should be able to figure it out pretty easily :~)

Do you have a trick for preventing black balloons from oxidation? Also what brand balloons do you use?
I use mostly Qualatex. Unfortunately, there's not a great way to prevent oxidation when outside. There is a cream that you can put on it to keep it shiny for indoors (balloon glow), but I'm not sure how well it works outside.

Where do you get the base plates from?
I make them from materials available from Home Depot :~) A 2x2' piece of plywood, a flange, a threaded pipe, and a piece of emt. Look at my beginning balloon professional playlist for more framing techniques

Do your clients ever ask why they can see the black plate at the bottom? Just curious!
no, they never have. Most people don't ever notice that - it's a foreground/ background issue I think. The eye sees where there is color and movement ;-)
