    I know it may sound odd but I love the fact it isn't high selling like that's why I cannot get into Toyota and Honda, cause it seems like everyone has one and I want something that isn't what majority of people is driving. No matter where you are in USA go to any parking lot and you'll see numerous Toyotas, Hondas, Chevrolets, and stuff but I rarely see Mazda6 and I like that

      ***** I always root for the under dog. I drive a 2014 cx5 love it if I got another car though it would be a Subaru Forester XT or another CX5 if Mazda would put the Skyactiv turbo in it lol

      lol same here.
      I'm on my second mazda. I have the 6 like in this video but 2017 GT. Since a dealership could move a "used" certified 2017 model with 10k miles..they lowered the price to sport model prices
      My friends that don't follow cars closely say the interior is better than my friends BMW 328.
      The handling (although with new g vectoring) is ridiculously go kart like. Maybe its just me, but I don't notice any issue with not having a 200+ HP engine..I'm not drag racing to the next red light lol. When I need it, it growls in sport mode in high revs. 3rd gear is my favorite gear, can pull like crazy and with composure. The video maker makes a good point..what the numbers don't tell the story of is how responsive this car is..Also getting 29-32 mpg combined driving :)
      When I drive my mazda, I feel the fun and quality. Sadly(or positively?) I'm seeing more and more Mazdas in my area (bay area CA)
      I feel like mazda drivers are a unique group..and I like that my car is a best kept secret.

    What frustrates me about what people say and typically don't actually do
    1. We ask for a bigger engine but when given the option, we tend to decline. Less than 10 percent buy a bigger engine when given the option.
    2. We ask for 'wood trim/high quality interior" yet complain about high price of a "GT Mazda model". 30/35K isn't unreasonable for what you get
    3. We say mazda is asking BMW money yet we've never owned a luxury vehicle. If we had we'd know no 35k vehicle is actually worth driving. Unless you want to be part of the bottom feeding group with halogens and a 200 hp engine, no premium sound or display, no rear camera or other basic necessities, then please stop complaining.
    4. We ask for big discounts when in fact a GT Mazda 6 gives you a 30 percent or more discount on a similar spec entry level luxury vehicle.
    5. We ask for Android auto/apple car play but aren't we supposed to be driving and not playing with the features of our phone? dont you already have synchronized call/text functions? Dont you have Nav? Whats with the new obsession of needing your phone on your car screen? ridiculous.
    Bottom line IMO, the quality and detail given to this car makes the upper trim worth the 30 to 35k price tag. If you can't afford it, go buy a base model Toyota/Honda with a discount or better yet a Korean car that really competes with deep discounts. If you can afford to pay for the quality of car the Mazda 6 really is, then actually test drive and appreciate it for the awesome quality car it really can be.

    • @crossmeister
      @crossmeister 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed on all points. Another argument for car buyers not being drawn into Mazda is the lack of luxury sub-brand that the American consumers have been used to associate high price and quality with: in the JDM, Honda canceled its plan to sell models with the Acura badge and Toyota only started using the Lexus badge in Japan as late as 2005. Mazda dropped Eunos, efini and Amati for financial reasons so what's left is an innovative car company struggling with an image deficit.
      If you lurk around TH-cam, look for an Israeli ad series with Ben Collins (ex-Stig) driving Mazda vehicles doing crazy antics before ending with the Japanese Mazsa chairman basically explaining that people have the wrong idea about their cars.

    I just bought my 2017.5 GT yesterday (this review and others convinced me). I was worried the 2.5L would be a letdown, but in fact I am using 75% of the engine's revs most of the time, vs 25% of my previous car, which of course, had more power. This, to me makes the car more fun and engaging. I also benefit by not feeling I bought too much car... just right. Took it for a late night drive last night, 30GBs of music, sunroof open, windows down. I had more fun than the first night of my last three cars. Wow.

    the reason why is low on sale is because people don't do their research

    • @KrabatCZ
      @KrabatCZ 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Mazda 6 = too many compromises. No turbo, no AWD option with petrol engine, missing Apple Car Play/Android Auto feature, missing 360 surround view camera, no automatic parking assistant, no automatic trunk open/close feature, no hood gas struts, no ventilated seats, MZD Connect is not bad but far away from systems you can find in Germans cars and so on. Simply too many compromises here.
      Don't get it wrong. I'm the owner of Mazda 6 Wagon 2,5L 2017. But I also understand other people why they prefer the different cars.

    • @N8DZN
      @N8DZN 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      KrabatCZ I think people look for is the main brand like BMW, Chevrolet, audi...etc
      it took me almost a year of research ( because I'm still young haven't bought a new car maybe soon, so I'm just looking at car for now )
      at first I was looking for sport car and the most popular ones were the
      BRZ
      350z
      BMW (used) ( will never get one, after I saw the maintenance cost)
      Genesis coupe

      Less people buying them becuase price is too high. They need to go back to making the BEST base model car in the world as they use too. A base model that can be upgraded incrementally. They are tryIng to target young people and african americans. All car dealers are doing that now. After the sale its on the loan company. This generation of cars are really shiney turds. But mazda may prove to be the only truely reliable shiney turd.

    Finally, a review that understands and appreciates the engine for what it is - an inline 4. They've done a great job with the torque curve to give you max torque at relatively low RPMs. Unless you race or are a speed demon, this is plenty adequate for a family. With my family of five and going up a hill, I get plenty torque with my M6 GT. I'd love a V6, too, but not at the expense of fuel economy and what would inevitably be $4-8K more on the vehicle price (I paid $29+K for ours.) Great car and great balance between sporty feel and family sedan.

      It's in the open and easier to use if you want to shut off the engine but keep electrical on, instead of reaching for a hidden button blocked by a steering wheel
      I got used to the new buttonposition after my first drive and I think it looks cool in the open

    Recently traded in my 14 touring for a 17 GT in white with all black interior (even the headliner) :). This car is gorgeous and will give you the premium feel without the price tag or the maintenance. More than enough power, even without the sport mode which is a gem when on the freeway. I live in Los Angeles so theres nowhere to be a speed demon because there traffic everywhere so the added fuel consumption numbers are an added bonus. I love this car.

    First of all, great review! Bought GT without Teck package, love the car . Positives far out weight very few negatives. Engine has plenty of power, tradeed in a 6 cylinder, getting 32 in city 40 on freeway, was lucky to get 21mpg combined with old car. Technology is great, fun to drive and the car looks damn good, get plenty of looks from everybody. Mazda doesn't have a huge advertising budget and in the U.S. the don't have the dealerships that other manufacturers have, shame they don't sell. ore it is truly a great car.

    G'day mate.
    Another great review. We still have the 2.5 petrol and 2.2 turbo diesel engines here, but automatic transmission only for Australian specification Mazda 6 models. I strongly agree with you, great car to drive. It's been said that the new 2.5 petrol turbo engine from the new Mazda CX-9 will fit in both the 3 and 6, so more power is a possibility for future models.

    • @CarQuestion
      @CarQuestion  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      hey there! thanks for your comments! You are once again lucky guy to get the turbo D ! Whats the 0-60 /0-100 for the Diesel version? Another thing that im jealous right now is the BT-50! Thanks for the comments!

    • @austprodriver
      @austprodriver 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +CarQuestion No problem at all, mate, a pleasure :-). I think the automatic turbo diesel 6 does 0-100 kays/62 mph in 8.2 seconds, approximately 0.2 seconds slower than the 2.5 automatic. But the kickdown response in Drive is much better, e.g, 60-100 kays is superior in the diesel.
      The BT-50 is essentially a Ford Ranger, made by Ford in Thailand, with Ford engines and gearboxes et al. But the next BT-50 will be a version of the Isuzu D-max for the all new model, ending the Mazda -Ford alliance once and for all.

    • @austprodriver

    Rumor has it that turbos are coming to both the 3 and the 6, like the Speed versions before. I love this car, but would like a few other things: Apple Car Play, temperature gauge, 17" wheel option (19's are just too big), maybe wood grain trim.

    The steering rack creeks when entering in an incline or backing up. Mazda has taken note of this cause the problem is pretty popular. 2 after awhile the inner trim squeaks which is ok but Mazda could of added some padding between the plastic trims that rub against each other. Such as when you rest your arm

    Great review and very comprehensive, just a few things to add from the UK, I have owned my six for 6 months and I'm really pleased with it, I have got the 2.2 diesel automatic which does not seem to be available in some countries like the US etc. but I'm amazed that you are happy with your fuel consumption figures! In all honesty I'm getting 40+MPG round town and up to 65 on a run [ that's if I stick to 55/60 mph though ] and I've never considered the braking to be a problem as you have, maybe you are just driving too fast?. .

    • @CarQuestion
      @CarQuestion  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow nice fuel consumption! we cant have the diesel here :( so i will be happy with what we can get for now :P for the brake, we do always the same path when we are filming, and yess we probably push a little bit more than in regular driving.

    Oh sweet. Hope they address the power deficiency of the GT model as well with the turbo from the CX-9.
    Heated/Cooled seating, a panoramic roof, an additional interior color choice, more quiet, less buzzy upper revs and front knee airbags would be nice additions as well to keep it market competitive. I wouldn't mind an additional forward gear or two to bring the engine revs down at highway speed (70-80mph) as almost 3k is kinda high.
    More wishful thinking: automate the sales application.

      Can't decide between this or a 2012-2013 Mercedes C Class. What I love about the C Class: beautiful, solid, V6 & AWD (4Matic). Not a fan of 4 bangers. Drive a RWD V8 now and I think it would miss the performance. Plus with the V8, you step on the gas and it growls...the 4 cylinder sounds like a weed whacker. Mercedes, more expensive to maintain/repair but I would NEVER go to the dealer for the $200.00 oil change..I'd stick with my trusted mechanic who could do the same work for so much less. If only the Mazda had the MazdaSpeed 6 instead of the 4 cyl.

      I have a 9 year old Mazda6 that's still in very very good condition inside and out. I still love to drive it every day. I've taken care of it though. This stuff doesn't happen by accident.
      I'm thinking after all these years of my current 6 I'm going to trade up to a 16 GT later this year. Seriously considering the white/black combo interior. I think it'll be possible for me to keep it looking clean. It's eye-catching too!

    I'm a big fan of japanese cars. Don't like Toyota that much, but we had 3 Mazda6 cars over the last 14 years.. 1 totalled, 1 rusted, and the newest of all (2009) was a money toilet. The rust is a BIG issue (fenders all busted and now we had to replace the brake callipers because of rust). Mazda doesn't really seem to be handling it well. I drive a BMW now (surprisingly reliable and its just astonishingly fun to drive - but costly), since I live in Germany but I am actually thinking of giving the AWD Mazda6 a try mainly because of the price gap between a Beemer and Mazda.. The thing of it is.. It is one of the best equipped cars for the least price in its class, don't know about the fun factor though...... There are very few cars in this segment that can beet an M-spec BMW..

    • @buchajo
      @buchajo 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry but I have 2 Mazda vehicles in my garage right now... one is 9 years old. The other is 7 years old. Mint condition.
      If your vehicles are rusting... that's your problem. Take care of your vehicles, and they'll take care of you. Wash them once or twice/week. Wax them a few times/year. Take care of every little scratch or chip. A mere stone chip can turn into a big rust spot, if left untreated, and that's not the car's fault if it does.
      EDIT - BTW, I live in IL .... where we generally have some snow in the Winter and they treat the roads, etc.... still no rust.

    I hate 4-cylinder cars, no matter how fast the forced technology built into it is. Turbo whatever, I won't give a rat's tail about how fast it goes; it's all because of the irritation 4-cylinder rev sound. I hate it with a passion. V6 is way to go!!

Is it really that bad? 2017 model should come out by next month already, according to what I read that the noise inside should be better with the new one coming. Hi! thanks for astking. ive seen worst in road noise. it's not perfect but it's not that bad. 2017 they made some improvement.
      Mazda said for 2017: Their desire to seek constantly higher goals led them to bestow Mazda6 with greatly enhanced sound insulation. Using improved door seals, tighter tolerance between panels, thicker front glass, and sound insulation materials added to the underbody, rear console, headliner, and doors, the aim for Mazda6 was to outclass common midsize-segment cars with its attractive design and establish a unique "Mazda Premium" positioning.

    I'm in the market and this would be my 5th Mazda. My reservations are connectivity is lacking, no android auto or Apple Carplay, has a smallish rear seat, has limited factory customization and it's not any faster or quieter or smoother than my current Mazda 3S GT. It's loud. The politeness of the Mazda sales and service departments in my area don't help much either. I'm not happy with the way Mazda has handled my warranty concerns this time around either. I do like the styling but it's going to take more than that to warrant having a car payment again.

    Looking to buy this, or a 2013 Mercedes C Class. Currently drive a RWD V8,(bullet proof engine) and a bit cautious about moving down to a 4-banger. Mercedes is a V6, and built like a tank.... but more expensive to maintain/repair. Like the interior of the Mazda 6 but what is under the hood does not match its aggressive styling. If the Mazda had the V6, I'd be sold. Again, the 4-banger wants me to lean more towards he C Class...which is also AWD (4matic). At 6' 3"...looking for something I will feel comfortable in. Any input would be appreciated!

    a great car for sure with the legendary zoom zoom fun factors; however, to be a great selling car, much more things are needed. for example, practicalities are the primary reason M6 lacks most - the car seats too low, small back leg room space, too long footprint, small narrow windows, overall internal space along with most importantly a low level of brand awareness. that's why it doesn't sell as much as it should.
