Grogan was my QB growing up. Still the 3rd best QB the Pats ever had (behind Bledsoe and Brady).

The Patriots really effed up not giving Flutie a chance ! Not to mention plenty of other teams that couldn't look beyond his height. He was able to prove everyone wrong in 98. Can you imagine what his stat line would look like if he played in the NFL from 85 -2005.

Belichick took an overhype QB however was winning went to a super bowl and in one season turned him to awful. So we can’t count him. Grogan had a lot of awful seasons. So then he’s gone. Shall I go to zolack and flutie and qbs before you probably jumped on bandwagon and named the other 2 QBs known. So stay in your own lane.

A blast from the past. Been a Pats fan since the last couple years of the 70's. I know how the Jets fans feel, trust me. But, I also know what it feels like to do lots of celebrating too. I forgot about the Superbowl loss to the Packers. So many Superbowls!! :) Thanks for sharing!

First Pats QB was from my hometown Clemson Tigers.....Harvey White....1960 Fleer card # 1..only card ever of him.
Steve Grogan was the Patriots quarterback when I started following the team in the late 70s. I remember the Super Bowl loss to the Bears and the one to the Packers. That 1996 team had a dark cloud swirling over them going into that one. Who knew going into that Super Bowl that it would be Parcells last game as the Pats head coach.

Im now 60 and remember alot of these Quaterbacks mainly from Jim Plunkett on! Steve grogan was a favorite i never really like Tony Eason and Scott Zolak was great and of course Bledsoe changed it all ! Thanks for all the memories

Joe Kapp. Completely forgot he played for New England... It was sad to see a great athlete career fading away like that. He was a beast in the CFL and wasn't bad at all with Minnesota.

I was too young to remember Parilli. Brady and Grogan are the ones who really stole my heart. I remember Grogan throwing an interception and his team members were standing and watching and he ran to stop the touchdown. He was tough as nails and smart. I moved to California shortly after the Bears and watching this, I can't believe how many quarterbacks the Patriots had between Grogan and Bledsoe. I came back, just in time for Bledsoe to Brady.

Who s my favorite Patriot QB of all time.nu 14 STEVE GROGAN.when football was smash mouth and QB's were not protected like they are now Steve grogan was the toughest bar none QB and had a CANNON for an arm.he played through incredible pain and injuries.when the jets were real good in the mid eighties the new your sack exchange,Klecko/ Gastino said Grogan was the tougest QB by far.broken thumbs,tons of other injuries,hell I saw him play in a neck collar in one game.I would put the 76 pats against any modern Pats team in the the last two decades.

Ahhhh…. The pre-Brady years.
When I was 10 or so, growing up in Chicago, I remember those Patriots.. They were always near the bottom with the Tampa Bucks. My earliest memories I recall having a mini helmet for each team, and since the Bears were mediocre, I remember thinking how sad it was for the Patriots to be even worse than the Bears, so I pulled for them also.
My mom and dad divorced, and we moved to San Diego, where the Chargers played. When I was about 16, the Chargers drafted Dan Fouts and the rest was history to me.
The Chargers hired Don Coryell in 1978, and they quickly became my team. Year after year 1 could you ever gf. The wear and tear her, and show had Bledsoe and he was pretty good. I saw the football gods give us Coryell and Zambezi, so that was the reason I moved off of the Bears and the Patriots.
Fouts was the greatest quarterback I ever saw, and I’ve been a Chargers fan ever since!
It’s funny that I followed the Patriots and the Bucks all that time before there was any Belichick and Brady, and after all is said and done, Brady wound up playing for both those awful teams and he has given them both titles. I grew to hate Brady because he always beat my Chargers, but not any more..

There are quite a few former and future CFL QBs in that list: Songin, Parilli, Trull, Sherman, Kapp, Flutie. Don's name is pronounced "Trule;" I saw him play in Edmonton in 1970 and '71. Tom Sherman beat out Joe Pisarcik for the starting job in Calgary at the beginning of the 1976 season, and they were both gone before October.

I'd feel that actually, the better story would be how risky, rocky and full on incompetent for the First 33 Years of the Franchise until even Drew Bledsoe and the stories, not all of them true, would fill an Irish Bar. I'd feel that the Samuel Adams Styled Logo and All American Jerseys should be back and not necessarily the iteriations or interpretations of the Flying Elvis or the Battleship Uniforms that defined this Twin Dynasty Era.
Please tell me that Burrow is hope for the Bengals to, at the very least, make it past round one.
It all comes down to smart gameplans. If your plan is for Andy Dalton to throw 60 times, you are gonna lose. Burrow is clearly an improvement.

Baltimore Colt HOF receiver Raymond Berry (never dropped a pass) Coached a mediocre Patriot team (except for Andre Tippett) to the SuperBowl but remains ignored in Patriots history and Foxboro HOF. Berry had each player sin a personal no-drug pledge. Lik Belichick he had Maryland foortball roots but he is ignored in Foxboro.
Don't forget John Hannah was on the team too even though the Bears' defense treated him like a fodder that game anyway.

I completely Disagree with that assessment that Tom Brady is the greatest "football player" of all time. However, I would agree to the statement that, "Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback in the NFL!" without argument although others may disagree. But to compare a great quarterback with a great running back is like comparing an orange with an apple. For all we know Tom Brady would make a terrible running back and couldn't even catch a pass aimed at his chest. And after all, isn't a running back a football player too. I believe if you asked Tom Brady about my statement he would totally agree that comment is honest and makes total sense. But let me reiterate, Tom Brady, especially considering his age and his journey, is indeed the greatest quarterback in the NFL today. He just proved that with the Bucs. Great job Mr. Brady and keep up the great work. Hope to see you around for another decade!
Good thing your opinion doesn’t count and facts and stats do. And his game management leadership and makes everyone around him just so much better and more excited to play. A great GM without being one look who came onto the Buccs. So yes all around he is as been said by anyone who knows football Brady is the greatest player to play the game for all so many reasons.
@@ki_tb12 If you want to argue who the greatest football player is, you're both right. You can't compare what a QB does to what a G does or a CB or DT. Modern football is so specialized you almost have to separate it by position. As Tony says, given everything, he is the greatest QB of all time, and not all of the QBs who commented said he was the greatest player of all time.
So is he greater than someone like Sammy Baugh? Granted it is two different eras of football, but Baugh was a complete team leader, as in the single platoon era he played offense, defense and special teams. He was arguably the greatest QB of his era, a premier DB and arguably the greatest punter of all time.
I would argue that since the dawn of specialized offensive and defensive players, the argument of the best football player of all time is futile; and you can only argue by position.

The problem is this: the most valuable player in terms of winning is the QB. So the greatest football player has to be a QB. The greatest QB is Tom Brady. In athletic ability terms Brady probably isn’t in the top 1000 but that’s irrelevant. Sorry but that’s the way I see it if you think that winning is what it’s about. If you think that winning is only one criterion then I would suggest that we go on NFL combine results. In that case Brady wouldn’t even make the league - he’s that bad.
Brady has run for over 1,ooo yds and 26 or 27 TDs, and caught a pass or two.
Let's be honest, Bledsoe would have won just as many SBs.

No, he wouldn't have. How scared was Belichick of Bledsoe? He traded him within the division. He did well in his first 8 games with the Bills, but went downhill from there.
