  • Decided to buy some of Palmetto State Armory's brand, AAC, ammo.
Shooting theith 77 and 75 grain 5.56 nato ammo, and the results were somewhat shocking for the price they're putting it out at.
    Bravo PSA.

As do I. 300 yards it's pinpoint. 400 fine, 500 I have to think about the wind, a bit. That's why 30 rd mags exist. Minor adjustments and I'm back on paper. Well that and....

I generally go with quantity over quality. 30 rds is better than 15 rds of high dollar. Nobody is gonna say ouch, you only hit me with 55gn. And I'm okay with that.
That doesn't happen. Either round will fu up. For a one shot stop, idk if they're that different, 75-77 maybe. Inside 300 m engagements I'd go with 55s, due to I already have a shit ton, and they're cheaper.

I'm a fan of their ammo. I've tried their 77gr loading with the Sierra Matchking bullet and it was ok. Shot no different than Federal's 77gr SMK load. I tried AAC's 77gr OTM load and now it's what I run exclusively for 77gr loads. Out of my 12.5 I'll consistently group sub moa, when I don't pull a shot. With that 12.5, I've made consistent hits out to 600 yards on a reduced C zone steel plate as well as a 10" plate. Worth every penny. BTW, they make a 6.5CM load, too, at $20 a box. Haven't tried it yet but I'm hopeful.

So with a Basic 16in bcm, the largest group i got with AAC 77gr smk was 1.2 moa. The Largest group I got with 77gr OTM was 1.3. Not bad considering im getting damn near the same accuracy using IMI razorcore. Im just using a standard profile BCM barrel and mil-spec trigger.
But don’t take my word for it. Everyone should test the ammo. Just because it works well in other rifles doesn’t necessarily mean it will work in yours. For example, everyone seems to agree that Black Hills mk262 77gr ammunition is the standard for factory matchgrade 5.56 ammo. My BCM rifle hates it, 3-4 moa. PMC m855 green tip shot better.

Your test would have been better if you had sandbagged the front and rear of the rifle...also I would assume you shot the targets at 100 yards. I like your Arken scope (I have three of them) on both a Ruger Precision Rifle in 5.56, a 20" PSA AR-15 with stainless 416-R barrel and also an 18" PSA-AR 15 with a Wylde chamber and 416-R barrel. I also have a 16" PSA AR 15 with the FN barrel...I have not had a chance to try out the AAC 75 grain match, 77 grain match, and 62 and 75 Black Sabre ammo. Looking forward to testing this ammo myself...I only shoot 5.56 ammo (the Black Hills Mark 262-Mod 1-C is still my favorite although WAY TOO EXPENSIVE)! I believe in precision shooting on a budget like you! Twist is 1/7 on all my 5.56 rifles.

Looks like that group on the bottom center is stringing, probably would have gone a little further if you kept shooting. Probably just the ammo, I shot about a 10 shot group with the AAC sierras, and it did that but up and to the left, all touching... The other group was with the AAC non sierra 77s, and it did maybe 1.7 MOA, but was all in a normal cluster.

We ultimately need range ammo with steel core, steel cased copper washed steel jackets to bring costs down. I really don’t understand the craziness with copper hunting ammo for example. You’re getting an inferior product that costs twice as much as a lead core traditional projectile.
