    Hi, Elson. I'm a holistic health specialist and was absolutely breathless at the depth and profound richness you have achieved through this gorgeously crafted gem of a video detailing the absolute most essential facet to the human experience that we must all be actively learning about, now more than ever. I will be sharing it with clients, collegues, and other members of my community. Cant wait to check out more of your content.

    Fight Club and Revolver by Guy Ritchie are my two most favourite movies since I watched them from the 1st time and long after I discovered Carl Jung, I realised those two are also the mos Jungian movies I’ve ever watched,

      Go watch younger views about the complexity of Fight Club. This Jung wanna be is someone who's just sharing what they interpret how parts of the movie follow old theory. Hey, eugenics inspired Hitler ("we must be more like the Americans" -Mein Kamph) and everyone blamed Hitler, but it took people to get behind theories, infuriate the disenfranchised,cause division, and good old fashioned "don't pay attention to the real problems"...soooo always be open to watching different sides. Don't just rewatch Fight Club (but do, it's amazing) watch many different theories. Jung0086 Nietzsche00747 says you suck!

    The author of Fight Club's birthday is February 21st, same as me. Fight Club is one of my favorite books, and I was talking about Carl Jung to a friend just yesterday. Imagine my surprise when a wild youtube video with a 21:02 length pops out of the algorithm talking about Fight Club and Carl Jung, from a youtube channel I forgot I promised myself I would watch more from.

    Very interesting, thank you. The shadow lives in our body too, in parts that are tight, twisted, knotted, tangled and numb. Bodywork, shaking it out, stretching it out, and a variety of Buddhist practices - Pranayama, Mantra and meditation - are all really healing. Better out than in!

    Outstanding and very thought provoking 👤. Makes me wonder if confronting your shadow could be the start of one’s hero’s journey. Maybe you’re afraid of your shadow, maybe you have doubts you can overcome it, but through time, practice, taking action, etc you confront it and grow.

    • @ModernIntuitionist
      @ModernIntuitionist  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thanks so much, Streptomyces! Great point and well said. I think facing your shadow can definitely be an initiating event or 'call to adventure' that starts one's own hero's journey and exploration the darker unconscious side we all have hidden. Take good care!

      @NoNameneeded1984 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It was for me. I had no idea where I was going and so much fear!! But once back up onto the surface after travelling "underground" for years in a shadow world I became who I was born to be. I now see my old life was truly insane and finally I came out well balanced and a productive individual. I spent the last 25yrs a social worker giving back to humanity and spreading kindness (and sometimes straight talk and direct guidance) to those in torment.

    • @avamasquerade
      @avamasquerade ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You dont overcome it, you absorb in and channel it into either the destruction of evil or the perpetuation of profound good. Even if the only profound good you are perpetuating is the preservation of your own life.
      But first, you have to decide what vice and virtue actually are, at least, to you, because historically, "virtue" has been defined in such a way that it seems to condition potential prey to make them more vulnerable to predation, while "vice" is defined as certain human characteristics that, if weaponized, could defend/inoculate said prey against predation (both from becoming predatory and from falling victim to malevolence) and perhaps further their own life's purpose while helping them acquire real power as opposed to the superficial, and fleeting satisfaction that comes from substituting personal power for the domination of others.
      In closing, I do apologize, I just don't know how to not say lot word when few word do trick...

    A super well-crafted and produced video Elson. To be honest, I didn't like the Fight Club film as much as most people, in spite of its cult-classic status, (perhaps because of its very depressing atmosphere), but I think your analysis of the film was probably the best one I've seen. There is definitely a "dark side" to every human being, though perhaps what is considered dark and light can depend on the definitions of modern society. It reminds me of the David Deida's book the Way Of The Superior Man, in which he talks about how women are often attracted the fighter and warrior within you. In most scenarios, fighting is a negative thing, but it can also be very positive when force is used to defend what you love. In most historical times, men needed to be both creators and destroyers in order for society to thrive; they needed to build the structures and infrastructure of their tribes, but also needed fight and destroy what threatened their peoples. Perhaps there is a lot of truth in that many men feel a malaise in the modern world because this fighting ethos and competitive spirit is so repressed and not allowed a positive and constructive outlet, especially with the modern social trend of attacking anything and everything related to masculinity. Anyway, this was another amazing vid Elson, really looking forward to your next video on shadow work!

    • @ModernIntuitionist
      @ModernIntuitionist  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thanks so much, Jonathan! I always enjoy and look forward to reading your thought provoking comments. It's a fascinating topic and it does strike me that the modern world represses many elements of masculinity in the collective shadow.
      I think a big thing that's missing today is the loss of 'rites of passage' where elders would mark key points in life to help initiate members into the next stage of life. Chuck Palahniuk also has some very interesting things to say on this topic here, if you haven't seen it, I found it worthwhile: th-cam.com/video/GCuSDH-YEKI/w-d-xo.html
      Take good care, and I'm looking forward to your next video as well!

    Is it strange that when I picked out my son's name, it was Tyler? I thought it was simple, bland, a tabula rasa, he could create his own legacy, and write himself into it. Or perhaps all of that was "just" synchronicity?
    I can't fathom why people are terrified of their potentiality for malevolence. The only thing that defeats monsters are monsters.

    It was a great book before it was a great movie. I feel like the original ending alludes to the idea that, not only Tyler, but all of the characters that he was interacting with were also imagined. If you haven't read the book, you should.

      Fight Club had a big impact on me when I first saw it years ago, and I believe is very rich with potential for interpretation through Jungian archetypes. I look forward to your take on it!

    This is exactly what we all experienced from 2020-2022...global shadow maddness....but who exactly were the perpetrators? or were we all equally responsible for the utter maddness?

    👤An idea poorly executed is a lie. This is extremely well executed and for that reason there is so much truth within it. I had a personal painful realization days ago that it take enormous pain, mainly self inflicted, for us to open our eyes and see the world as it is and not the one packaged and sold. Our current world is so much of a reflection of the ideas within both the movie and the insights of philosophers of days past. This also, in my observation, shows the power of stories. Not a lot of people take time to read or understand philosophies as it can be extremely boring to learn in the format it is often presented and sold. Extremely entertaining and engaging stories can pack so much wisdom within it while making it digestible for the masses in a way other formats fail to do. The stories just take far more energy to create and execute well, but the end result can be well worth it if done well. Keep up the amazing work! Keep taking your time to create your videos as the quality you produce as a result is far more worth it and will have a longer shelf life to impact generations to come.

      Thanks so much, my friend! So eloquently said as always. I completely agree, it does take pain, struggle, and discomfort to see the world more clearly, as you've said. I'm so really grateful for your kind words and continued support for what I'm doing. I'm also looking forward to what you have in store on your channel as well, and can't wait for the stories and maps you'll be presented. Big love to you and yours!

    Some time ago I decided that I wanted to master my subconscious since it's in control of 98% of my life.
    The best decision I've ever made....and yes there have been times I've driven myself to the brink of madness trying to understand and get the full cooperation of my subconscious.
    But one of the things I realized early on is that it's of absolute importance to have a strong healthy shadow.
    You need it to balance yourself out and you need it when you need to get some serious shit taken care of that only the shadow can handle....my handle name can give you a glue as to what I'm referring to.
    I see soo many people with big successes and yet you can tell right quick thier clueless of who they really are. At some point they're put into a situation where they'll need to relay on themselves and they will have no clue who they are or what to do.
    That is a darkness I'm completely unwilling to entertain.

    yin and yang are both present in our lives. you cannot appreciate light without darkness. good and bad are two sides of the same coin. the idea is to live above the opposite. thanks for this.

    i've never seen anyone else discuss this theory so maybe its just me being crazy. it's clear enough to observe that tyler durden represents the shadow, the unconcious compensatory aspect of the personality. i have begun to wonder after rewatching a few times if marla singer is the personification of his anima.

    There are very few narratives told in the 2nd POV, but I think it is the deepest of the 3 POVs...I recognise this as a middle child and a writer. It is a difficult but powerful position. I recently wrote a letter to my👤; I asked why she likes Disneyland and I don't.
