    Oh what we have lost. As a nation we will one day realise the tragic mistake of losing our industry. A brilliant presentation. Those really were the days, great people, superb country. Hope it recovers one day, for our grand kids and all their futures.

    When we think of Colliery closures we rightly think of the jobs lost by Miners and others employed by the Collieries. What we don't always think of are the many others who relied upon the coal industry one of which were the rail workers. When you look at the area on an Ordnance Survey map there are miles of abandoned tracks in the area and it does make you realise how many it would have taken to maintain and operate those tracks and other ail related facilities.
