What a fabulous and rich lifestyle we have. I have much less now but I've gained so much more in spirit and peace. Beautiful music and filming Mrs mindful. I laughed out loud at the dance and trying to sort out the lock and the snail showing the pace. It was perfect. Take ever so good care..
What a lovely comment Mr Narrowboat, Narrowboat, Narrowboat Will! Thank you so much 😊 I agree totally with you about how much spirit and peace there is living afloat. Enjoy sunshine cruising and a weekend of loveliness!🌞🦋🌻
Hi Vanessa, another great blog and very interesting, lots of wild life ,well you finally finished painting the Daisy on the side of the boat looks good as well.then electric Hydraulic look gates can be a pain n the bum to Many micro switches all have to be spot on ,well till next time take care keep yourself safe, John 🌹😂👍🤩🙏🤩🦮🦮
I liked the inner children's side of u coming out doing the dance which l found amusing, little did u know that those few seconds are priceless and took me by surprise 🤣🤣🤣. When it comes to instructions l too are use less but if they came like ikeas (pictures) u would of been through the locks much easier. The daisy is really coming on now and looks great 😄. Another wonderful vlog Vanessa l loved the shots of the water going over the weir it was like it was slowed up to show the water falling , thanks again hope u all enjoy this special weekend 🕊🐝🦋🪳🐕☂️🎨📸 👑
Hi Simon, that was my audition for Strictly Come Dancing!🤣 Ikea-like pictures is right up my street for solving instructions; that is a great idea, although I might go in trying to open a lock and end up building a wardrobe!🤣🤣🤣 I am so glad that you enjoyed the vlog and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.🌻🦋
Your journal is building up into a brilliant work of art. Have you thought about having it printed and sell it in an online shop? I love seeing Zepher in the vlogs. She always seems in a good mood.
Hi Bicyclehub, thank you so much for your lovely comment. I am starting to put a journal together for this year’s cruising which I will try and publish. I am just exploring the best way to do that. I hope you have a wonderful weekend 🦋🌻
Good evening, Jean-Louis! I hope that you and your family are well. Thank you so much for your kind words about the daisy. I hope you have a wonderful rest of the weekend.🌻🦋

Hi Vanessa, thank you for your lovely comment. I hope you are well? It is very quiet here and peaceful. I am pleased with the daisy as I haven't done anything like that before, and the mistakes here and there are quirky, I think.😁 I am so pleased that you found the vlog relaxing. Have a wonderful weekend.🌻🦋
I agree… those lock instructions were not at all clear. I had to giggle at the snail… they are comfortable here also because of all of our rain. Loved your cruise and journal. Thank you 🙏
Hi Nanci, I'm glad you thought the lock instructions weren't clear as well. Yes that little snail was very cheeky indeed and I'm sure would have done a lot better job of getting those lock gates open!🐌 Thank you for your lovely comment and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.🌻🦋
Wonderful, wonderful video Vanessa. Those tiny insects you spotted. And that's the first I've seen you sketching outside. You're an amazingly sweet and clever lady x
The lock would have thrown me too. Sometimes when I get to locks where there are other people I go into blank mode and can’t think what to do. That’s on a normal lock. I’d rather do them on my own so I know where I’m up to. Nice peaceful vlog. Always enjoy yours as they are calm xx
Hi Helen, the thing is with the locks is they are all slightly different and quirky which I suppose makes it more interesting but I’m like you when it comes to gongoozlers and it always seems to go wrong when someone is watching! 😂 Thank you for your lovely comment and happy cruising 🌻🦋
That lock would have had me in near panic mode and yes then my ability to read coherently would have been out the window. Love the wildlife and the wildness around and about. Thank you and as always, take care =-)
Well Vanessa what a problem. I would have 😱 panicked. You did well to get through it. How do you find all those little bugs amazing. Love what you have done so far with the daisy your very clever. Have great week. Take care. Xx

Another utterly brilliant comment, Anthony, thank you so much 😊 I shall look out for thatched cottages with roses and churches with steeples to film for you. I have a pumpout toilet which works well for us; asking me what I think is best is tricky. I think if I had a base and didn’t CC, I would opt for a compost toilet that way I could use the waste as compost. My stove is just a standard multi fuel and I recommend the fans that sit on top as it seems to make a difference to how warm the boat gets throughout. I hope I have answered your questions. Have a wonderful Sunday week ahead!🌻🦋
Nice moves 😂 the daisy looks great,I did worry when the rain started though. Love the Egret, I sometimes see them in our local rivers in Chelmsford. That was an interesting bit of kit you were using to boil your kettle. Thanks Vanessa, hope you’re enjoying the bank holiday weekend. My children took me to Crick for an early Father’s Day present 👍
Hi Paul, thank you so much for your lovely comment. Your children are so kind to take you to Crick. I was there today. There are some beautiful electric boats on show; did you have any boat tours? I hope you have a wonderful weekend 🌻🦋
@@themindfulnarrowboat I wish I’d seen you. We looked on a couple of narrow boats and a wide beam. One of them was an electric boat. They had a glass cover over the engine bay so you could see in, impressive.
Hi Christine, it really was the perfect spot for journaling next to. One side of the boat has its Daisy now but the other side is yet to do. I am going to add the lettering of the boat name to each picture too, hopefully. Thank you for your lovely comment and I hope you have a wonderful weekend 🦋🌻

Another lovely vlog. The wildlife and animal shots were beautiful as always, especially the Little Egrets. Those electric locks can be scary and they all seem to work a little differently, it always takes me a while to work out what I’m doing! Lovely journaling and poetry as usual. Thank you Vanessa, have happy, safe travels. C
Hi Shirley, thank you so much for your lovely comment. The locks are all so different and have their own little quirks don’t they? I’m still not sure exactly how Stoke Lock opened its gates!😃 I hope you have a wonderful weekend 🦋🌻
Hello Vanessa - greetings from Poland. I really felt for you trying to get that lock to open. At least it worked in the end. Another lovely video - thanks so much for making it. The River Trent certainly is different. So much to see. I loved your cooking stove. What a great idea! And a big bottle of water for Zephyr's use too. The daisy is coming along. You are an accomplished artist. I guess you can only do one side of the boat at time depending on which side the tow path is and in which direction you are going. Stay safe please and I look forward to seeing you again next Friday.

Happy International Journaling Week Vanessa...you do such a great job...arent the egrets beautiful? How does nature in its many forms, maintain their spotless white coats, yet we as humans are forever searching for the stain remover? That snail turned up just at the right time....and that cheeky other NB user, they must have been waiting around the corner for someone else to figure out how to open those gates...at least they said thank you, as do I...
I so felt your unease opening that lock. Reminded me of myself trying to check in at the airport😅 I totally loses the ability to read any instructions😂 Love your cooking devize,by the way, just like the one we used when camping in my childhood. We called it a Storm cooker. The daisy is comming along beautifully🌸 Have a lovelly week-end.
Ah Elina, check-ins at airports, I’m with you on that one too!😂 It sounds lovely that you used a storm cooker during your family outings. It always feel slightly magical to cook like that outside and the food seems to taste better? Thank you for your lovely comment and I hope you have a wonderful weekend too!🌻🦋
Thanks for a beautiful cruise on a lovely sunny river trip, the little dance was great, lol. The daisy painting is brilliant as is your diary of nature art and poetry. Sorry but I had to laugh that you showed how far Brian (The Snail) had travelled while you struggled opening the lock gates. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Hi Stevie, Brian was laughing at me too, I could tell by the way those little tentacles were waggling away!🐌😂 Thank you so much for your lovely comment and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.🌻🦋
I have the same technicalities with the push button world .Got there in the end .Daisy looks nice despite the British weather ,pairing outside is a nightmare. The wind blew my easel over whilst doing a landscape so l clamped it to my chair with some mole grips !Improvise and survive!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment, Tony. Are you a watercolour painter? I think your easel clip improvise was a super idea! I hope you have a wonderful weekend 🦋🌻
Hello, Our Changing Views, I am so chuffed that you love the channel! Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Ah there's nothing quite like having a cup of tea somewhere beautiful! I hope you have a wonderful weekend.🌻🦋
I used to fly at RAF Syerston and would stay down the road at RAF Newton. The Unicorn at Gunthorpe used to be a regular haunt of mine. Lovely to see it from the river.
it was really nice to meet you at crick on Friday, thanks for the encouragement re poetry writing and painting, you might just bump into. us next month , thanks again Alex and Maria
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. The river is fast here but there is lots more room to move your boat which gives you a bit more flexibility than the canal. Wishing you a wonderful week 🌻🦋
The little egret is a very beautiful bird. Here in Loughborough, I had a friend who was the front man for a band called "Dangerous Dogs". One day we learned he had died of an asthma attack, a few days later we started seeing a little egret along our local streams, and because of when it appeared, and because he was a keen birdwatcher, they are now "Nigels"
Hi guys, Hope you are all well. We too have a vlog channel we have just started with our yellow lab Chloe. We love watching you, as your channel has such a calm feeling to it, Chloe even watches Zephur!! We havent ventured onto rivers yet as we would like to gain more experience first, however watching you makes me give it serious consideration. Looking forward to your next episode!!
Welcome to the vlogging family! I shall pop over to your channel. Give Chloe a big hug from me and Zephyr. Happy cruising and I’m sure we’ll see you on the waterways. Thank you for your lovely comment. Take care🌻🦋

What a kind and lovely comment, Paul! Thank you so much☺️ It is a pleasure to make vlogs for viewers like you. Have a super weekend and stay cool in the sunshine 🌻🦋
How right you are, and I edited out the amount of times I tried to get the cooker lit! 😄 Thank you for your lovely comment. I hope you have a wonderful weekend 🌻🦋
I love your vlogs, so calming and interesting too. 🌻🌺🐞🐛🦋What a beautiful spot and the white egrets I saw in S.W. France where I used to live going on the school run 🥰 What's your gasoline kettle cooker thingy called please? I'd like to get one! Much love 🙋♀️xx
Hello Suzy, thank you so much for your lovely comment and I am so glad that you love the vlogs. The cooker I was using is a Trangia and it is so simple to use. Grace commented that adding 10% water to the meths stops the pans going black, so if you buy one, then that sounds like an excellent tip to me and I shall try that next time. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.🌻🦋
Hi Glyn, it's good to know that I wasn't the only one that found the lock instructions confusing! I still do not really know why they opened in the end?🤣 Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.🌻🦋
Hi Andrew, thank you so much for your lovely comment and I am so pleased that you are enjoying the videos. In this introduction, the bird of prey is a juvenile buzzard which I filmed in Bradford-on Avon, but in earlier introductions, I had a clip of a red kite that I filmed on the Thames. I hope you have a wonderful week.🌻🦋
It's more common in the Netherlands to operate the lock. Each on works a bit different. The one's i have seen are kind of Muppet proof. If you do the wrong things it just does'nt do anything. Greetz John.
Hi John, my plan is to wait until the end of the year to have this year's complete journal and then to reproduce it as a book. Once I have done that, I shall be sending you a free copy for all of your support with my channel. Until recently, I did not think for one minute that anyone would want to buy my journal and I am completely flattered and overwhelmed that viewers have asked. 😊 Take care🌻🦋
@@themindfulnarrowboat OMG, you so under estimate your talent and stardom. We are very eager to learn about your Crick "Press the Flesh" experience. By the way, we subscribe to Brit-box and Acorn TV. We watch a lot of British TV programs that are new to us although, perhaps, old to you. You appeared not to be familiar with the term Press the Flesh but I heard that exact phrase on Shakespeare & Hathaway or Pie in the Sky just a week or so after we first discussed it and I said Ah-Ha. Those two channels and TH-cam helped us survive Covid lockdown. I generally find current American TV rather revolting. British TV is so much better. Looking forward to #104.
I think I might be disappointing you with the Crick video, John. I was only there for a short time on Friday as I have teaching commitments at the weekend and I really struggle to get the camera out and put myself out there, it’s just not me. I did however meet some lovely viewers and said hello to other TH-camrs but vlog #104 will be mainly about my trip on the tidal Trent with a little Crick bit at the beginning. I know there will be some excellent Crick vlogs coming out from the other amazing TH-camrs though. Take care🌻🦋
@@themindfulnarrowboat Not disappointed. I completely understand. I'm happy to see you teaching again. I was under the impression that you teaching gig dried up. You are doing fantastically in doing it your way. Cheers.🍾🥂🍾
Studying Nature is the best form of meditation possible I think. It’s strange that more people don’t seem to notice how bafflingly complex and well designed it is. Darwin and Newton never wavered in their belief in a Divine Creator, and they couldn’t have been completely stupid could they? I hope you guys never stop making these videos 🙏
What a lovely comment, thank you so much🤗🤗 Nature is definitely the best form of meditation. It is so great to know that you are enjoying the videos. They are a pleasure to make. Take care🌻🦋
I realized today when watching the great narrowboat life unlocked Crick video that I was encouraging you with yes the best of intentions for the success of your channel but frankly that scene was not so much for me so I felt guilty for encouraging you to do something that I would not want to do. I felt like a hypocrite. So lets not dwell on it and chalk it up to experience. I must say I was looking for a glimpse you and your Mister strolling along at Crick.
Well what a right pair we are! I felt guilty that I wasn’t bringing you a good Crick show and you now feel guilty for encouraging me to promote the channel at the Crick show. Well you made me feel so much better with your comments last week so I hope that I can reassure you that you must not feel guilty. You weren’t to know how I would feel, after all, I’m on TH-cam so it should be natural for me to feel at ease in the boating TH-cam world. I think I only realised myself when I was there how shy I am about it all! What a great video from the NB Unlocked Team though!🤩👍
Hi Brian, I would love to play this piece of music but it isn’t allowed unfortunately due to copyright 🥲 A great idea though 👍 I hope you have a wonderful weekend 🦋🌻
You see? This is indicative of the problem. If she had to physically wind up or down she may have had some idea what she was doing, and why. But faced with buttons the function gets lost.
What a super tip! I didn’t know that and I will definitely do that next time I use it.👍⭐️ I hope you have a wonderful weekend and thank you for your great comment 🦋🌻
John you definitely do not need to apologise. Everything you have ever suggested has been with the best intentions for the channel and for that I am so grateful. I will get better at this whole TH-cam way of life but for now I am so happy with the low key nature of it and the lovely followers that I have.🌻🦋

Have you started your journal yet, Jenny? 🎨🌻🦋
Thank you for your lovely comment and I hope you have a wonderful weekend too!🌻🦋
Shudder airports I lose the plot totally.
I love your stuff.
Thank you so much, Mike😊 I hope you have a wonderful weekend 🦋🌻
@@themindfulnarrowboat l find acrylic suits me for large paintings and enamels/oil base for objects .
how beautifully English, Sat at the waterside with your art, and a little primus stove to make your fresh cup of tea! my wife and I love your channel
Hello, Our Changing Views, I am so chuffed that you love the channel! Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Ah there's nothing quite like having a cup of tea somewhere beautiful! I hope you have a wonderful weekend.🌻🦋
There's the answer for hectic life what a relaxing video thank you once again never disapponinted good health
I hope you have a relaxing weekend planned? Wishing you sunshine and rest and thank you for your lovely comment. 🦋🌻
I used to fly at RAF Syerston and would stay down the road at RAF Newton. The Unicorn at Gunthorpe used to be a regular haunt of mine. Lovely to see it from the river.
I am so pleased that you got to see your regular haunt from the river. Thank you for watching, take care🌻🦋
it was really nice to meet you at crick on Friday, thanks for the encouragement re poetry writing and painting, you might just bump into. us next month , thanks again Alex and Maria
Well it was lovely chatting to you both as well. I’m looking forward to reading your poetry! See you on the Chesterfield. Take care🌻🦋
The river seemed quite fast well done on the boating skills , lovely drawings 👌
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. The river is fast here but there is lots more room to move your boat which gives you a bit more flexibility than the canal. Wishing you a wonderful week 🌻🦋
The little egret is a very beautiful bird. Here in Loughborough, I had a friend who was the front man for a band called "Dangerous Dogs". One day we learned he had died of an asthma attack, a few days later we started seeing a little egret along our local streams, and because of when it appeared, and because he was a keen birdwatcher, they are now "Nigels"
What a beautiful story. Thank you so much for sharing it. I will keep my eyes peeled for Nigels. Take care 🦋🌻
Take care🌻🦋

That is so kind, Joe, thank you so much! 😊 I hope you have a wonderful weekend 🦋🌻
OMG the dance moves 😃. As always, a great video God Bless all.
Hi Francis, Sorry about the whole dancing thing- I hope my kids aren’t going to watch this vlog!🤣 Thank you for your kind and lovely words. I hope you have a wonderful weekend 🦋🌻
@@themindfulnarrowboat The dancing was cool. I enjoy birds so thank you for naming them in the videos. A good weekend to you and the Mr.
Amazing I love that one brilliant ❤
Thank you so much, James! I'm so pleased that you enjoyed this vlog. Take care🌻🦋
Awsome. ❤
Thank you, Sheila!🦋🌻 I hope you have a wonderful weekend🌻🦋
Not only is your channel so beautiful, but you are inspirational and well organized. What a treat your channel is...thank you so much. Time for coffee I think...enjoy
What a kind and lovely comment, Paul! Thank you so much☺️ It is a pleasure to make vlogs for viewers like you. Have a super weekend and stay cool in the sunshine 🌻🦋
Hi it would have been easier to call in at Biondis at the side of the lock for a coffee 😂😂Have a good bank holiday weekend.
How right you are, and I edited out the amount of times I tried to get the cooker lit! 😄 Thank you for your lovely comment. I hope you have a wonderful weekend 🌻🦋
Your daisy is beautiful 💛
Thank you so much 😊 take care🌻🦋
Your Painting 🖼 has inspired me
That is so special to know. Take care🦋🌻
Remember to Comment and Thumbs Up 👍
Hi Vanessa , great video. Must admit I was confused with the lock instructions, I felt your pain ,lol. Look forward to your next vlog !
Hi Glyn, it's good to know that I wasn't the only one that found the lock instructions confusing! I still do not really know why they opened in the end?🤣 Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.🌻🦋
You did it!
Lovely video Vanessa. Amazing photography.
Hi Nigel, thank you so much for your lovely and kind comment. I hope you have a wonderful rest of the weekend. 🌻🦋
@@themindfulnarrowboat …….and you too Vanessa.
Love your videos. Hope y oh don't mind me asking what is the bird of prey in your opening pictures. Thanks
If I'm ever fortunate to own a boat I'd probably call it Boudica...one of my favourite characters from history 🙂
An incredibly, strong woman- great name for a boat! Thank you so much for watching and commenting, take care🌻🦋
Beautiful Egret
Egrets are beautiful 🤩 Take care🦋🌻
❤😊
Love your videos, watching from the beginning. I do think on this occassion a thremos may have been easier?? just my opinion😃
Good idea! Thank you so much for watching from the beginning. Take care 🦋🌻

I love the Trent, but not sure about doing it single handed
Hi Trev, it is a gorgeous river but I completely understand what you’re saying about single handed boating. Hope you are well and enjoying cruising 🌻🦋
It's more common in the Netherlands to operate the lock. Each on works a bit different. The one's i have seen are kind of Muppet proof. If you do the wrong things it just does'nt do anything. Greetz John.
I have plans to one day cruise in the Netherlands. Thank you for your lovely comment. Happy New Year!🥳🌻🦋
Vannie, Please consider us to purchase your very first copy of your published journal.
Take care🌻🦋
Apparently Biondis has changed its name to La vague.
I saw La Vague…didn’t go in though, maybe next visit. Take care 🌻🦋
PICK RECORDING WITH RIVER VIEWS
COULD YOU PLEASE ADD MESSING ABOUT ON THE RIVER BY JOSH MCRAE TO YOUR BACKGROUND MUSIC. THIS COMES FROM THE 1960S I AM 82 AND STILL PLAY OCCASIONALLY
Hi Brian, I would love to play this piece of music but it isn’t allowed unfortunately due to copyright 🥲 A great idea though 👍 I hope you have a wonderful weekend 🦋🌻
Complicated
You see? This is indicative of the problem.
If she had to physically wind up or down she may have had some idea what she was doing, and why.
But faced with buttons the function gets lost.
Buttons+ lots of instructions = malfunction in my world!😂 Thank you so much for watching, take care🦋🌻
If you add 10% water to your meths on your cooker it stops if making the pans black
What a super tip! I didn’t know that and I will definitely do that next time I use it.👍⭐️ I hope you have a wonderful weekend and thank you for your great comment 🦋🌻
Vann, I've been thinking about it over night and I have to apologize for encouraging you to be someone that you are not. I'm so sorry, I overstepped.
John you definitely do not need to apologise. Everything you have ever suggested has been with the best intentions for the channel and for that I am so grateful. I will get better at this whole TH-cam way of life but for now I am so happy with the low key nature of it and the lovely followers that I have.🌻🦋
@@themindfulnarrowboat Hey, one last word. We just watched a couple of Crick vlogs and the odd 1969 song by Peggy Lee began swirling in my head "Is that all there is". I understand.
