  • I know people are used to years of Star Wars Galaxies Legends, but I think SWG Evolve is truly worth a try. Star Wars Galaxies has never had this level of customization in the NGE.

I been playing on legends off and on for about 7 years now. This is my first hearing about this server, definitely gonna try it out. It looks fun.

I wonder if Raph Koster is watching

Maybe so! He is probably more focused on the future than the past atm. Playable worlds and all that.

Would having no classes and everything open not lead to people just taking similiar skills like a meta build just to be viable in any situation and do you know if that guild Ronin is same one from pre-cu that was on valcyn, the name seems very familiar

Metas will always develop in every game. There's nothing really keeping Rezec from rebalancing things if the game gets stale though.
Personally, I've not seen a meta build yet. There's been a lot of diversity in templates from what I've seen thus far.
And no, this is a different RONIN guild.

I never played SWG back in the day, but when SWG Restoration III came out, I jumped on it and tried it. I had fun, but I didn't know ANYTHING about the game, and guides didn't seem to exist. That, and there was a 2 Character limit. So, I ended up quitting at around lv30 or so. The whole Classless thing sounds interesting, but based on other comments here, it sounds like the leveling experience is painfully easy. I understand the devs wanting to move things a long for a game this old, but if everyone's max level, then it feels pointless to even bother.

unlike Restoration, there's an actual end game in the NGE. Leveling is probably the worst part of the NGE.

Nice! I love what Legends is doing with their version of SWG, but I do like having options after all! No harm done in having more servers to pick from, and this one looks super interesting to say the least. It's incredible how far the community is going with all things SWG. At this point it wouldn't surprise me if one of these servers actually decides to go through with it and upgrade the visuals / engine at some point, haha.

3.37 I applaud the efforts to create a healthy economy, but it doesn't seem to be working out too well. It's not game breaking and I still love evolve, but in reality, it is hurting player-base growth.
The junk dealer limitation of 250k/day is not good. A limitation wouldn't be bad, but it has to be realistic for average daily activities. It is frustrating doing any kind of high tier grinding for a few hours, then not being able to clear your inventory at a junk dealer and that's with even saving high stat / multi stat items. Just the trash loot, you cannot get rid of without just deleting it from your inventory. That is very irritating. 2.5mil/day junk dealer cap wouldn't be bad as that is about average for a day grinding statted loot for re'ing, doing holo grinding, or any other activity that requires killing high level mobs and selling off unstatted or low statted gear and junk to a junk dealer.
People often make the mistake to base economy only on price of goods, but economy is income to cost of living (or cost of goods). People form a false sense that high prices = bad economy and low prices = good economy, but in actuality, high prices are a sign of a good/strong economy. So yes, other servers have higher prices, but it's much easier accumulate wealth.
When you balance it out, income to cost of living (or cost of goods) on Evolve, is not much different than that of other servers. The down side on Evolve is, there isn't much being crafted for sale on the bazaar. There are a few factors for this, but from my point of view, it's not even worth it to invest the time gather resources to craft items for sale, when I can be doing more enjoyable things.
Yes, I already hear people screaming "but it's easy to have a crafter and craft what you need/want". Okay, for some people yes, but for your averaging individual, they just want to play the game and buy what they need to progress to end-game content. Some people don't mind resource grinding and crafting. Some people even enjoy it. Most people don't enjoy it and just view it a grind that takes time away from doing what they enjoy. While it is a noble effort, Evolve's economic system is going to be a turn off to potential players. Fix the economy (or lack there of) and I don't see any other server being able to compete with Evolve.
If the economy isn't adjusted, then more character slots are needed. Don't give me the argument that you only need X amount of slots. That is so opinion based. Some of us that enjoy the combat side of things, like to play multiple roles. While yes, I agree that 4 character slots allows a person to effectively do that, but when you have to dedicate one slot to a crafter and one to an entertainer, you are severely limited in what you can do. There is a thread on the Evolve forums about this very issue. For me, 6 slots would be perfect, but other like more. It would allow for two combat dps characters (1 reb and 1 imp), two combat support character (1 reb and 1 imp), one entertainer and one crafter. Some would say, that takes away from player interaction. My response to that, go look in the Mos Eisley cantina and go look on the bazaar. At most times, entertainers are not in the cantina and we already covered that lack of selling/trading on the bazaar. A newbie pretty much has to be self sufficient on Evolve right now.

The concept of Evolve was interesting, but it was just done very poorly. The trees need to be reworked if they truly want a "classless" experience to work, and everyone was given way too many points to play with. It could work if more thought was put into it, but as it stands it is a balancing nightmare that isn't much more than a meme when it comes to how the combat plays out. I don't know if they'll ever put that much effort into it (or are competent enough) to make it playable. There was an initial novelty of coming up with the most riduclous builds imaginable, but that wore off fast.

    • @Gospelgg

Not sure what your experience has been... I've seen a lot of variance in templates. Another way to customize your template is also on the way, though I didn't mention it in this video, but I'm definitely looking forward to it.
Evolve is a much more creative endeavor than 90% of what other servers are putting out, that's for sure.

NGE sucks big time. SWG was great begore the stinking CU and the NGE, when it was pure vanilla sandbox. That's why we loved it.

    • @TheNamesMoose30
      @TheNamesMoose30 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Pre cu sucked donkey balls. Time to take off the rose tinted glasses. SWG NEEDS some form of the CU back. It had everything pre cu had but better. Classes were waaay more diverse and armor all had their uses. Combat was balanced and the economy didn't nose dive.
      And then NGE came out...

@@TheNamesMoose30 Pre -CU rocked, that\s why people loved it. SOE should have been building on it, instead of changing it. With CU, my rifleman could not use composite armor anymore, only some Mabarishit light armor and he became squishy. I have never cared for PvP, my game is PVE and CU ruined that. I left the game along with thousands of others. Here's an extremely relevant video to make you understand how we felt. th-cam.com/video/7_aNUyYxhGA/w-d-xo.html. Nothing to do with your pink tinted glasses.

@@dennissinned6299Well then there you go. If you dont care about pvp that I understand why you didnt like CU. You're biased because your build became balanced lol. A rifleman? You were literally part of the problem haha. Everyone wearing ONE armor type and using either swordsman or Rifleman is not a fun OR balanced game. Agree to disagree.
Lets just leave it at this, NGE sucked and ANYTHING that came before it is miles better.
