    Getting a deer that close is like winning the lottery.

      Most of our deer here act the same way!! Southern deer are by far the hardest to hunt in our opinion. For some reason the deer in that particular area let you get by with a lot more. They act more like midwestern deer.
      Nice to hear from other trad hunters. We are working on coming out with our own line of recurves keep an eye out!!

    Were you in a tree saddle? They make you stick out from the tree and look unusual to deer instead of being able to lean back against a tree like a tree stand.

    Great video, the recording quality went down a bit but the excitement was all there. What location was that?

    • @gritarchery

      Sometimes filming becomes secondary to us, we get caught up in the hunt. Lost most of our footage from this one because our mic was turned off. We were in hunting in western North Carolina.

    You'll get him next time. Did you silhouette against the tree line?

    • @gritarchery
      @gritarchery  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We had a pretty good backdrop. We think he originally picked up Zacks face lit up by the camera view finder. That combined with smelling where the bear had been, got him boogered just enough. Hopefully we can catch back up with him soon.

    • @JohnGreyman
      @JohnGreyman ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gritarchery you will get him. I suggest urinating all over that area so he gets used to your scent when your not there. He is a good buck. Nice rack but not too old to be chewy. Will make a good shoulder mount.

    They do see our white faces try a camo hood it might help, they have worked for me been bow hunting since 1979

    • @bowdeer5074
      @bowdeer5074 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Camo is a gimmick. Never wear it. Been 5 yards from deer in tan pants and a red flannel shirt. Its all about good back cover, paying attention to the wind, and being still and quiet.

    • @gritarchery
      @gritarchery  ปีที่แล้ว

      Can't hurt. We try to utilize them or face paint as much as possible. This hunt was a bit of a cluster all together.

    • @gritarchery
      @gritarchery  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wind and good backdrop are definitely more import to us as well. We try to put everything in our favor though. We think the glare of the camera screen in low light got us on this one. Having two people in the tree all the time adds a whole other level of difficulty.

      Thats archery, you get split second sometimes to make the call. Happy we had the encounter, would rather see him walk off than have a badly placed arrow in him.

    The bow is too loud.
    Drop some graphite powder on the rest, it will be silent

    • @gritarchery
      @gritarchery  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We were up about as high as we could be for that set up. Just comes with hunting in steep country. If they come from up hill it's definitely easier for them to pick you out. Especially with two guys in the tree. Thanks for the feed back!

    Do yourself a favor and skip to 1:24 to begin. WAY too much wind noise and loud thumping rapper type music in the first of the video! Otherwise, a great archery video that shows the patience needed to be a bow hunter!

    • @gritarchery
