In The Mood For Love snuck up on me. I had previously enjoyed Wong Kar Wai's Chungking Express a lot but I wasn't really feeling in the mood for love very much. It's a bit high concept and was having trouble connecting. But by the time the ending hit I was floored. The more I thought back on it the more it resonated. Glad you liked it!
yipeee! we get a wrap up for films too! omg the Kiran lore and Kung Fu Hustle. i had a thing where a few years back i just had a itch to try and find similar absurdist films with so much comedic levity but to no avail. so i just continued through Stephen Chow's filmography. if you haven't yet, Shaolin Soccer is also a lot of fun and The God of Cookery is okay, but is food-focussed. holds all the same charm, but Kung Fu Hustle will always be up there for me!!!
Don’t lose any more weight or the next puff of wind will blow u away. The last couple of movies I watched were the Fugelmans or something like that by Steven Spielberg which I thought was kind of dull and Oppenheimer which was too long so I’ve severely cut down both my film and tv time. Be well and hope u r enjoying the New Year.⚛❤
@@kiranreader That's ok, thanks for making them. Sure... these spring to mind... British - Brazil (1985), Kes (1969) and Naked (1993). European - Cinema Paradiso (1988), A Very Long Engagement (2004), Jean de Florette/Manon de Sources (1986), Micmacs (2009), and The City of Lost Children (1995)
To Live by Yimou Zhang is about the impact of the Cultural Revolution on a single family/community. I thought it was a powerful film. Farewell, My Concubine is also a must-watch
I don't get it, In the Mood for Love was filmed in 2000. Is this a new edit? (Just got to the second film, now I get it, these are films you watched, not films OF 2024). Odd title. It also proves the point that "Everyone's a critic," LOL.
