Love these two, thier so very brilliantly funny and no matter what the horrible world throws at me I always laugh and smile when watching them Pete and Duddly...
What a weird place this world has become...This vid has been up for 14 years and only attracted 77 comments! I was born in 1959 in west London and my mum used to play poker with Peter Cook once a month😂. I know I sound like a sad old boomer, but I had a fantastic childhood. Elenor Bron was a frequent supper guest too.❤❤❤
Taped on one of those nights when the BBC decided to save money on their electricity bill by having no lighting on in the studio. It’s a good job the sound quality is far better than the image quality.
The concept of two working class 'blokes' putting the world to rights in the pub was a brilliant idea that was later copied by the 2 Ronnies. This wonderfully 'innocent' humour is sadly a thing of the past. All we have now is 3rd rate comedians having to use swear words to get cheap laughs.
Living Proof Latterly copied by Mel Smith and Griff Rhys-Jones too; probably the closest anyone has come to the level of Pete and Dud’s ‘stupidity’ and writing quality.
So I started looking for Willesden Common because I was born by Wormwood Scrubs & I can't find any Willesden Common but ended up wasting an hour going over my school, the parks, where the gang went, where my girlfriend Linda lived, Savoy Acton, Western Arms, Ace of Spades and 50 other things from 56 years ago instead of watching a movie. Thanks for nothing Dud.
It is so funny because it lampoons many of the conventional ideas of its time. Nowadays comedians do not rebel against, mock, or think critically about anything. They just parrot whatever rhetoric the government and media push out.
Some of these great sketches are ruined by the "canned laughter", which was popular then. When virtually anything said is followed by a fake laugh, the flow of humor is stunted. Same is true today.
In a way it's very accurate in that it's really the semi-educated dolts today who think we live in a world where everything has a logical explanation, simply because they sat through the same science classes everyone did.
No scripts, only ad libbing by two very new comedians...in true British style. It's an acquired taste! We grew up with these Brit comedies on telly, in the Southern Hemisphere :😊
I was watching a bit of Pete and Dud, you know, late at night, I thought:
...Funny..
…and then I heard this tap,tap on the windowsill😉😆
How perceptive, Jonathan, thanks for letting us know.
I was actually reading your comment as they were saying the lines, just sayin!
Funny..
I used to watch the shows back in the 60's. No VCR in those days, but I did record some of the audio on my Philips reel to reel tape recorder.

Watching Dudley Moore trying not to corpse is one of the best things ever.
"Suddenly in bed I felt a hand brush my cheek" "Which cheek was that Dud?" "Errrr left upper"
Great SFX from the radiophonic workshop
These are nice to see. And quite rare, given the BBC's penchant for wiping recordings to re-use the tapes.
They saved a lot of the B/W episodes, but almost all of the color episodes were destroyed except some outdoor location stuff shot on film.
Two comic geniuses in full flow.

Wonderful. Never ages ❤
this made me cry with laughter. superb !
Masterpiece
Amazing video.
I do hope more surface, of complete shows, whether on here or BBC releases on to DVD.
Sadly only 8 of the 22 episodes survived
@@pythonslab3963 Like many other gems from that period, wiped by the philistines at the BBC.
Pete only had to sense Dud losing it & he fixed his eyes like a Corpsing Hawk!
Always makes my day 😂
They don,t make 'em like this anymore, more,s the pity!
Classic Pete & Dud.

hilarious, you can see dud start to lose it early on at "frozen pea person." 2:29.

So that's where Cook 3PO and R2-Dud2 came from.

These two are also responsible for Derek & Clive: so many swear words and such obscenity it would make GG Allin blush.
Also copied by Harry Enfield.
Aunt dolly 😂😂
Does anything for nothing...lol

I'm a septic too.
I wonder if there’s an American Pete n Dud
No.We all know what happens when Americans try to replicate British comedy, disaster.
Hilarious!
YES AND APART FROM DUDDLY MOORE being a great COMEDIAN HE WAS also A VERY FINE PIANIST TO.
Oh yes, he was a VERY good pianist. Watch the vid of him playing on Parkinson's show.
No Victor Feldman, but he'll certainly DO!
I was almost certain it was a pooma!

It was filmed before a live audience.
@@evagrubb the editor canned that laughter perfect. Real laughter from the show. I have canned this comment myself. x

Two potentially funny chaps. Only problem was.... the scripts were flaming awful. Just plain stupid. Sorry. I 😅😅😅😅😅
sad
British humour, you either get it or you don't. Canadians, Australians etc "get it "even if others may not 😂
