  • Are we capable of change? How do our body and mind transform through meditation? How does modern science support a Buddhist perspective?
In this informative video, Mingyur Rinpoche discusses the connection between modern scientific understandings of the body and the brain and the traditional Buddhist presentations of what is known as the “subtle body.”

Meditation makes you the observer of your thoughts - you detach and it's like you're looking at your thinking from a 3rd person's perspective. It helps you to let thoughts pass through and it helps you to remain calm and focused. These are my personal conclusions so far after about of 2 years of meditation :)

It helped me become more efficient at solving complex problems. Especially the 3rd person's perspective of looking at my personal problems .

Hello Luka, i can't see at my toughts from 3rd person's perspective no matter how much i try.
Till now i see all the toughts but from my toughts and i'm in them and they take me wathever they want.
And it's not pleasant and I finally have the impression that meditation didn't work for me.

@@leslie8094 Hello, don't worry too much if you are having thoughts when meditating, just simply let it come and go then go back to your object of awareness. If you think that meditation didn't work for you, then be aware of this thought and let it be, as long as you go back to your awareness, it's okay. As you continue on practicing, you will get better, be proud and kind to yourself because you are actually doing something for your own good.

My meditation practice along with Acceptance/Commitment Therapy vastly changed my mind-body wellness...so much so that I was able to completely step away from psych meds more than 8 years ago...this phenomenon was realized after more than 1/2 century of suffering from childhood physical abuse resulting in PTSD...
Daily practice works...and...continues to work in my life...
    Aatma Namaste...

Unique experience. Please allow me to interrupt. I do research on how Buddhism disappeared in Bihar. I realized it never disappeared from Bihar. Buddhists simply failed to research Indian Buddhism. They looked at Buddhism through the sphere of their own cultures searching for only the Buddha. Buddha had a myriad of names in different villages according to his teachings there. Example. His favorite teaching was 'Lust and desire causes pain. Remove lust and desire, and pain is removed'. Translated into Bihari (where the Buddha story took place) it is DHUKH HARAN meaning to remove dukha. Three dozen villages pray to DUKH HARAN Baba. Its clear that DUKH HARAN Baba is none other than the Buddha. Problem is Buddhists are searching only for the Buddha. In the real Vaishali the Buddha begged for alms. The locals there pray to 'BHIKHAINI' Baba (Beggar Baba). Bhikhaini was mispronounced by Buddhists as Bhikshu. Who is BHIKHAINI Baba. The Buddha no doubt. But people are searching for a man called Buddha. In the real Vaishali, in Beluha the Buddha suffered a sickness and felt he had grown old. The locals pray to 'BURHA' Baba (Old Baba). Who is BURHA Baba. The Buddha no doubt. In the real Vaishali the Lichavies pressurized Buddha not to die. They trailed him to Bandagawan pressurizing him not to die. To put pressure in Hindi is DABESHWAR. Three dozen villages around the stupa where Buddha gave the Lichavies his patra, the villagers pray to Baba 'DABESHWAR NATH' meaning the man who won the pressurizing game. It was the the Buddha no doubt as he gave the Lichavies his patra and succeded in sending them back. But Buddhists are searching for the Buddha. In Pidhauli (Vaishali) the local deity is Bardiha Baba. Bardiha means the Baba who didn't allow us to stay where he was staying. Bardiha Baba is the Buddha no doubt because he didn't allow the crowd of Lichavies to stay with him in Bandagama. Forgive me for commenting out of the topic. I just wanted to impart this information to Buddhists.

I just read an old article about our dear Rinpoche. Did you know that he is truly old school, very old and in the best way? He was wealthy from teaching the Dharma, and he just walked away(remind you of someone?). He went off with nothing to wander the Himalayas. He is the real deal. With so many greedy hucksters in all faiths,he truly teaches by example. He truly is a precious gem.

I love meditation so much. It changed my life. I got rid of negative problems that I never thought I could get rid of and that within an extremely short time. I only started in September and only did it like once a week at first and now I am doing it almost every day for at least an hour and I couldnt live without it anymore. So I really recommend it. ❤️

I had really awful, negative experience with spiritual teachers up until now.Really traumatic, rejecting and angry and frustrating and emotionaly maniplative, causing all kind of pain and unhappiness. With Yongey M.R..it is defferent. I listen to him for a year now and I have no negative emotions toward him and also I can feel his blessings. I am glad Yongey is like that and he is so good and make it easy to love.

And another year passed and I am so blessed that I can still recieve wisdom and goodness and support from Rinpoche which can be so well understood within my own experience and I am able to stay as awareness/ observer even in a challenging or distresstful situations and to not suffer much. As Rinpoche says, no matter ups or downs I stay as awareness.I am Grateful Rinpoche was not a source of challenge for me, a hardship, only of support and kindness. In my Heart, He is my best friend forever. Love you all.

Fun fact: Indonesian nadi means exactly as nadi he described, veins. Several Indonesian words rooted from Sanskrit language.

I love that too.
