Good question! As far as I understand the two apps work together and update your life list in one spot. Ideally you would have both on your phone. Then there are many times when adding a bird on eBird is easier and faster than adding it on Merlin. That is why I did it that way in the video. You could also add the bird using Merlin but you would need to go through these identification steps or have a photo or a sound recording. In eBird you can just type in the name. So to clarify, Merlin is to help identify the birds. But we still need to manually add it to eBird? (New birder here!)
