Vilgax was literally made in a way by the creators of the show as to make fights with him seem hopeless initially. Ben never beat him in OS just because one of his Aliens was stronger. The dream doesn't count, because it was made to make Ben feel good, and even though I think Four Arms could've used that spinning move against Vilgax in the show's (OS) IRL situation as well, it wouldn't have mattered, and would've only slowed Vilgax down.
