  • I wish to thank everyone who has expressed their prayers and/or condolences for the death of my Dad. The outpouring of support from my viewers has been tremendous and has helped in this difficult time. May God bless each and every one of you. Also, thank you for your patience. I am still making videos, but I took a couple weeks off-call after my dad passed, so I wasn't doing very many jobs. I'm using some previously unreleased videos to fill in so that I still maintain my once-a-week video release. I will continue to perform jobs and create videos, as long as God allows. Things will be different moving forward. I have to trust that God will guide me and this channel.
So, in this video, a red Dodge Avenger (REDD) is parked on the shoulder of the interstate with its flashers on when another car travelling at, as stated to us, 70 mph or 113 kmh, crashed into the rear of the Avenger pushing it through the guard rail and down an embankment. The Avenger is totally crushed and mangled. We do tear a few things up in this video, which isn't normal for us, but this car WAS NOT and IS NOT going to be repairable. Sorry, but duct tape and bondo won't put this Avenger back together again. Mike uses the Ford F650 with Miller LCG10 to remove recover and tow the white car while I use our Peterbilt 337 with the LCG12 and my home-made side puller to recover and haul/tow what's left of the Avenger.
Again, a very special thank you to all my viewers, family, and friends who having taking the time to show their support. May God bless and protect you all!! www.paypal.me/...

Ron, Your dad raised a good son. His legacy lives on through you and your family. He is one proud man looking down on all of you. I lost my dad when I was 19, my brother at 32 and very sadly my daughter when she was only 24. I have learned the grieving process takes time, treat yourself well during this time. God bless you and your family. Lots of folks who follow the channel feel the loss as well. We never met your dad but we knew him. On this recovery a stong message is sent. The potential for serious injury or passing is just a moment away. That Avenger was really crushed, the impact must have been immense. I wish drivers would be more attentive than they are these days. I put a lot of miles on due to family issues and have had many close calls due to the inattentiveness of others. Riding motorcycles for decades has honed my awareness and I drive as if everyone is a potential threat. 360 vision, put it where they can't hurt you, and read the road environment has served me well. Be careful out there.

I was a Shriners Kid back in the early 70's. They may not have had the transportation, food, and accommodations then. I remember my parents driving me to Shriners in St. Louis. We stayed in a Holiday Inn everytime and ate at KFC 🍗 . I have great memories of being at Shriners.
(Naturally, a few uncomfortable moments. Overall, it was great)

I hurt for a long time after my Dad passed in '09 and I still think of him often. It hurt me especially hard because I was the one that found him and felt nothing but cold flesh when I checked for a pulse. Take all the time off that you need, Ron. We will still be here when you return.
Thank God there were no serious injuries. Stay safe and God bless.

About the only type of car compactor that would make those two any smaller would be a Predator car baler. A car crusher would just crush them to the "crush flat" limit, which those two vehicles are pretty much already at.

It's really spooky when travelling along a motorway with nothing coming the other way on the other carriageway, just a string of emergency service vehicles travelling over there, but in the same direction as myself. It was a filthy wet night, and about ten miles before I passed the scene of the accident.

This reminds me of an accident in my hometown. A lady wasn't in her right state of mind, and she accelerated within city limits to about 75 miles per hour and hit a four way intersection that included two or three side streets on top of the 4 legs.. Her vehicle was launched 150 feet. Surprisingly, nobody was killed.

As a Tow operator myself, I agree with one exception, in this situation there was a steep embankment just off the shoulder with what looked to be water meaning there would have been nowhere for the people in the Avenger to move off the roadway to. The safest option in this scenario would have been to remain inside the vehicle until help arrived (which is obviously what happened here).

Wow! What a mess. By the grace of God, no one died. I have a request for your church and anyone who wishes to pray for the families in Waukesha, WI. Those who have lost children, in particular. My entire state is in shock and total disbelief. What was supposed to be a joyful holiday parade turned into a tragedy when a speeding SUV ran through the parade route while fleeing police. My friends who were there escaped physical injury, but what they saw will remain burned in their memories. I am keeping you, Ron, and your family in my prayers for continued healing and peace.

Sending my prayers to anyone in the vehicle that struck the stopped Avenger, hoping that they’re okay…….Ron, may the Lord be with you and your family during this time. At least on the one he usually drove. (Though if I recall correctly, that was the Western Star, which is hard to take out of service long enough to paint.)
We did something similar on my church's tech crew--one of our sound operators passed suddenly. Years later we still have the front page of the memorial bulletin up in the tech booth.

I thought about making a similar suggestion. It wouldn't even have to be painted, a vinyl graphic would work fine and would be easily replaced if it got scratched. All 5 of the semi tractors that I own, as well as one of my dads old tractors that I've restored have them with In loving memory of and his year of birth and death.

I'll continue to keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers especially when I pass your shop. 4 1/2 years ago I was driving home in one of my 87 Volvo 740's going 60 mph. It was a clear, sunny and cold day when out of nowhere I was rear-ended by an 07 Mazda 3. I was in the #3 lane and no vehicle traffic around me. Long story short I kept my Volvo, but the Mazda was totalled. A few months after the accidents the woman who hit me was a witness to a drug overdose that killed a young man. Like you Ron I'm a Believer and I know that the Lord and my departed loved ones were watching over me. After changing the bumper and taillight I still drive that same car!

When I see an accident like this, I always wonder if the cause is "target-fixation", where the driver looks at the vehicle stopped on the side, and panics and then goes where he/she is looking, rather than the lane clear of the stopped vehicle.

So sorry about the loss of your father Ron. Keep up the great work and honor him every day with that as he would want u to do. He raised a great guy. The driver that hit that red car was extremely lucky not to be seriously injured or killed

If ever there was a "totaled" car I think this was it. When you pulled the wheel off I knew there was no hope. You guys did a great job. You did this very quickly. I know you mentioned that this was before you lost your dad. I miss him so much. I loved to see him working with you even if it was just controlling traffic. He was a good man. I still miss my dad and I lost him in 1988. You never stop missing them.

Ron, condolences on the loss of your Dad and for recognizing him in this video. I take it you and your Dad had a healthy relationship. I'm very envious. I had a Father that beat up his wife and children, and I was forced to show affection for the monster I loathed.
On a brighter side, I'm glad to have discovered your channel. It's always refreshing to watch a real leader in action. The minute you step out of the truck, you're like a field general, you observe the upmost safety for you and your crew, you assess and evaluate a strategy that has a high probability of success and jump into action. I just love the country way you assume control of the situation from the jump. I pray for yours and your crew's safety, continued success, and His highest blessings. You're the best, Ron, simply The Best.

Ron, again my deepest condolences for the loss of your Dad. Just a suggestion, the side pull of the roller fairlead is surprisingly low, and I have caused one to fail in the field. To have helped take most of the pressure off the side of the fairlead, you should attach your pulley in an eyelet farther aft on the deck. This would have caused the cable to put a lot less pressure on the side post of the fairlead. When mine failed it caused the top mount for the side fairlead to get bent up, nothing a torch and hammer could not straighten and fix at the shop. I learned my lesson the hard way, during the winter in about a foot of snow, on a remote dirt road, on top of a 9,500 foot mountain Northeast of Reno Nevada.

Hey Ron. Hadn't watch you in a while, doing a little catching up here. My condolences about your dad even though that's a few months back ago now. Never easy, but glad you were able to take a little time off. This was one of the rougher incidents I've seen on the channel, glad that no major injuries came of it. When the officer said "see you next time"... although it's good for business, you have to wish for less "next times". Accidents do happen, best we can hope for is that any bodily harm is minimal and that everybody can get to where they need to be at the end of the day. You guys are so efficient at what you do and get traffic moving again quick as possible, I have to hand it to y'all for that.

We actually just lost "ANOTHER" family member (Extended Family) on Wednesday night.
They decided to take him OFF life support as his health had been declining for many years.
2020 and 2021 have been really difficult for many people especially around holidays.

Mike I am so very sorry for the loss of your Dad. No matter how old we are the loss of a father is one of the deepest sorrows a heart can know.
I kept thinking of the four part video you made with your Dad when you went looking for the abandoned van in the National Forest. Although it was a little emotional this time, I'm so very glad you
    have that special video.
The goodness, caring, and wisdom along with the love he had for his you, his son, was amazing.
May the memory of your dad's love for his family surround you now and help bring you peace.

Good on you Ron, I'm an OTR driver an have been where you are within the last few months. Take the time you need for you, and just ease yourself back into life. You're the only one who knows how much time that is, and once you feel comfortable then yes come back to work but leave TH-cam behind initially only come back to the camera once you feel comfortable but don't rush it. Life takes priority over work and it takes longer than you think to heal. Prayers Ron, and please take your time.

I think Ron's policy is to not release the video untill the occupants are released from hospital. Where they are deceased, we will never see those videos. Minor injuries or have been discharged from hoapital to finish their recovery at home or as an outparient, pray and best wishes requested. All out of respect to the families invokved.
