Near the end of this vid you touch upon the VR Simulation theory posited by nick bostrom aka . Can you devote a video to discussing the idea, its plausibility & its similarities to previous ideas about the nature of the world.
I’m a Christian Gnostic so you have some context in advance for my views. The place we exist in is real! But deceptive. It’s not a hologram or a simulation (although I concede it could be). The idea has some roots with the word Maya and the memory storage myth of the Akashic. For sim theory to be true there would first have to have been a civilization that was able to create human type consciousness in A.I. If that has happened then the odds of sim theory being accurate goes up. I do get the appeal because of modern computer tech and I even wrote an EP on the subject called: 4-songs About God In E-Flat Minor. But, at this point in time, I reject sim theory as those who are pushing it as fact are shadier than fcuk...
I think charles pierce would disagree with you at 1:20 He says that we all have prejudices and beliefs prior to entering philosophy. So no, philosophy is not that different 2. The Church never suppressed knowledge as much as wes cecil claims. Francis bacon was a theist and a pioneer in the scientific method 3. In the 2nd half of the video, I don't know if wes cecil knows the implications of what he said. Essentially, the state has replaced religion. The state is no different than a cult who controls every aspect of your life, some more than others. The only difference is the world has become more scientific and knowledgeable in general, this is not to say the church was unknowledgeable
Great lecture as always. Really glad you covered the Gnostics and heresies!
I Iove this guy a little.
Telling someone that they are "born wrong" may be the worst crime anyone can do.
No, that's the best thing you can tell people. It's because they were born wrong that we can make improvements.
Why though?
@@erdemturk4561 Because it goes to the Root of who you are.
@@pinosantilli8297 Could you please elaborate what is wrong with this?
@@Bvic3 What I'm trying to tell you is like how the Christian Church tells you that you were born in "sin". That's the kind of thing I don't like.
Great! Any attempts to build a mental construct of the 'big picture' is welcome.
Thank you

How can EVERYONE actually agree on everything? Why should we? The question is- can you NOT kill somebody because you don't agree?
The Franciscans & the Dominicans are Catholic religious orders and not sects...
It's just a power struggle!
First 👍
>:o
Nothing has changed.
Save you from what?
