    Regarding double shots, while you are correct in regards to those 3 specific hot options you talked about at 10:20, you missed that some of the "To Go" options will do actual double shots. For example, the Cappuccino Mix in the "To Go" will make two shots and then add milk, flat white supposedly does two shots as well. Possibly only for the larger size to-go options, I haven't played around with the to go options much, I would usually just make a normal drink then do a second shot on top after. I don't blame anyone for missing that, the documentation from Delonghi is woefully inadequate, and nowhere in their marketing material or the manual does it actually say that some to-go options will do a double shot.

    If there's a superautomatic I like, this DeLonghi's model is. Sadly it is too costly in the USA and its territories. Here in Puerto Rico, it goes on sale sometimes in Williams Sonoma for $1,599, but the regular price is $1,799. Way too high. I would rather buy a Ninja Luxe for way less money. As always, thanks for your great funny and down to earth reviews.

    Hi Kev, I just came across a machine that seems too good to be true. It's exclusive to John Lewis in the UK and is called by a company called Dualit, the model is Espressivo Pro. This is a dual boiler machine with PID for the brew boiler, integrated grinder and 58mm Group for £549. Surely a candidate for your next review!!!!

      @@tanyamirza1976 hi, I went with the Primadonna soul in the end as thought I wouldn’t use the Cold Brew (it does have the over ice option though).
      A good machine in all as does travel mug and coffee pot as well as over ice. You never really know though do you! I’m happy with the Primadonna Soul

    I was nearly sold on this machine apart from that annoying pre rinse! I’d love to be able to brew my coffee from bed so it’s done by the time I get downstairs, but it appears this machine is not the one for that. If anyone has any better suggestions please let me know

    I have a PrimaDonna Deluxe (for 14 years) and I have to say... Delonghi doesn't seem to have learned that much in terms of noise and technology in that time. This machine is at least as loud when grinding and just as loud when pressing as my old PrimaDonna. That's a little disappointing.
    14 years ago, the PrimaDonna cost €1,200 and the entire chassis was almost made of brushed steel. Today it's 1000 and everything is made of plastic.
    I like my Delonghi, but after 14 years I'm now thinking about getting another machine. For me as a technical play child who is curious about something new, it will no longer be a Delonghi. At first glance, it's the same technology wrapped up in a different casing with an app built around it.

      To be fair when it comes to noise, the loudest part is the beans grinding. The seal makes it about as quiet as any I've experienced, I think to quieten that further they'd probably have to shrink the hopper, drop it further into the machine, put some kind of insulation around it etc., all to reduce it just by a few decibels, while probably meaning it has to be made bigger as a result. Even if this shaved more than few decibels off, the sound of milk frothing is usually not far behind this in volume, and then slightly behind that the volume of the pump & then the volume of the motor & gear system of the brewing unit, so I'm guessing this is why most manufacturers don't put all that much effort into sound proofing.
      Ta, Kev

    • @Coffee_Kev
      @Coffee_Kev  หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      what @BigJasquach said 😎. When I started the channel, I wondered what title to use for people like us, who see coffee as more than just a a drink, I don't like the term "coffee snob", and other titles are just too boring, so I decided "Coffee Botherers" was the most appropriate. Ta, Kev.

    Overpriced rather have the Ninja better and cheaper.

    • @Coffee_Kev
      @Coffee_Kev  หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Actually vs other fully auto bean to cup machines I think it's well priced to be honest. Personally I'd rather have the Ninja Luxe too. Well I do have it ;-), and I'd use the Luxe over this or any fully auto bean to cup. But this is a fully auto, it's different, some people just prefer them - whether they should or whether they would actually be happier with one of the new breed of fully assisted portafilter machines, is a different matter. I will be doing side by side comparisons with the Luxe and fully auto bean to cup machines.
      Also, the DeLonghi is an Italian made machine that feels really well put together, and parts for DeLonghi's are usually fairly easy to obtain and some of them are modular and easy to swap out, so I'd hazard a guess that on average these will way outlive the Ninja Luxe machines, so yeah the Luxe is just over half the price, but the long term value for money may be similar or better with the Eletta Explore if you take that into account. Only time will tell.
      Ta
      Kev

      I havent got tried the Ninja and it was my plan but when i saw the Rivelia review i started to wonder. Coming from a Gaggia classic and DF64 and all the faff which is getting tiresome just to get an americano as i dont drink espresso i just wanted to press a button. Got my Eletta today after seeing this review and while it will take getting used to and perhaps double dosing to get a proper tasting Americano as its pretty weak but ive only just dialled in the beans im using with the bean assist app so will see how it goes.
