    I think it’s important to note to a lot of tourist that the Hanoi-Sapa trains are actually Hanoi-Lao Cai trains since there is not direct train route to Sapa. You will always have to book some sort of ride to Sapa. Taxis are expensive so it’s best to book in advance some sort of shuttle bus. Some sleeper buses that run from Hanoi do pick up people near the station which should only cost around 120,000 vnd.

    • @kentuckiansabroad
      @kentuckiansabroad  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good 👍 info! Yes, our taxi from the Lao Caí station to our hotel in Sapa was $20 USD.

      I saw a solo traveler take a bus from Lao Cai to Sapa town for under $2.

    • @kentuckiansabroad
      @kentuckiansabroad  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the buses are cheaper, but not as comfortable for that ride.

    Would have been good to actually see more of the train, amenities, toilets and the cabin you slept in?

      You saw it. The train is very limited. Don’t expect more than a twin bed and some snacks for the ride!

      We used Vietnam Railways System.

      @kentuckiansabroad Thanks so much for your reply. There seems to be so many websites that it's hard to know which are real and which is the original company. I'll have a look at the link you shared.

    Hi! So, how would you rate the train ride? is it okay? did un sleep well? did you get dizzy? i heard sapa has a lot of zigzag.

    • @kentuckiansabroad

      We slept okay. But it’s definitely loud with zigzags all through the night. We did not get dizzy, but I was definitely ready for real rest at the hotel in Sapa when we arrived.

    • @kentuckiansabroad

      The train was comfortable enough. We will try different trains next time we visit. But the trains are limited to certain days. So we hired a private car back to Hanoi, which was better for our flight itinerary.

    Do you recall if the VIP is the same
    As what they call “2 bedroom”

    • @kentuckiansabroad
      @kentuckiansabroad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m not sure if it’s the same. However, “VIP” on the Chapa Express just means only 2 guests in the room. There are actually 4 beds in the VIP room, but you can keep those closed for more head space. If you did not book the VIP, you will likely have more than 2 people in your sleeper. And if you’re traveling solo, you can book the VIP, but you’ll have to pay for both beds.

      Well, we don’t care about your cancellation. But if you traveled as much as we travel, you would change up your selections sometimes…especially if you found an American diner in Vietnam, owned by an American. But if you watch our other vlogs, then you can see plenty of noodles and spring rolls if that’s your thing!
