- Took the 10pm sleeper train ride from Hanoi Railway Station to Sapa departing on Sat evening. Sapa is one location in Vietnam that I've been wanting to visit for so long but never had the chance to do so till this year.
[Important Note]
All Sapa Series videos will include subtitle support for the following languages:
Vietnamese, Thai, Malay, Filipino and Chinese
The 8-hour train ride was quite an experience and I slept relatively well once the train left Hanoi where the tracks I guess became more consistent hence less shake. Woke up around 4.30am and just sat and admired the view of the countryside till the train reached and disembarked at Lào Cai Train Station around 6.20am.

Finding the van which will take me to Sapa town was a tad challenging due to the language barrier but all I had to do really was walk out to the main carpark and help will be there to get on the right van. The scenic journey to Sapa town took approximately 45mins but the views were breathtaking indeed.

Sapa has been on my list for places to visit the next time I am in VN. I am looking forward to seeing your upcoming content documenting your experience. Good video Daryl!
Thanks so much buddy and you definitely should visit at least spend a few days here and stay at the village which I regret I didn't have the time to do so.
Such a nice video!thank you!
Most welcome Joanna and thanks for the support!
Thank you for this video, very informative
You are most welcome and thanks for supporting the channel my friend!
I've never heard of Sapa, until now. Nice video. The train station looked very interesting, then I remembered that you were leaving from Hanoi, so it was probably a pretty big station.
Yeah very old but super large station. The 8hours plus ride was very memorable indeed. You should totally visit next time you are back for your Asean Tour perhaps in 2024?
Luar biasa ni video-nya bikin aku senang dan rileks nontonya. Terimakasih bosku di tunggu video selanjutnya
Aww... terima kasih atas sokongan anda
1st! Hola, Vectorian! The wooden interior walls looks so nice and comfy.
Oh yes my holy priest.. lol! Sharing the cabin with 3 friendly ladies chatting into the night was quite an experience. I'm pretty sure some of their giggles were about this clueless foreigner in their cabin... lol!
@@WanderEats kek!
Thank you for sharing
Most welcome sis and keep up with your hard work on TH-cam too!
Did you get to see inside any of the VIP cabins during your journey? When you were walking past them and we could see inside the windows, I assumed that your cabin would be just like those. But yours was more simple. But you did have a nice table lamp. 🙂
It seemed like your train was never going to end. In order to reach coach 8, it looked like you left the actual train platform and they had to build extra platform just to reach it. The train outgrew the train station.
There are only 2 cabin options available, dual or quad sharing and the price is very high for dual of course. It's even higher than a full quad cabin.. lol! When I walked past the long long train which as you said outgrew the station, I did see a few dual cabins and they are all occupied by tourists.
From the photos, I believe all the quad cabins are the same but my friend booked carriage No.8 because he felt there might be a chance it would not be fully occupied but unfortunately departing on a Sat night, it very much was.
Really interesting.
Thanks Chris... hope you will take the journey to Sapa one day soon as well. Cheers!
@@WanderEats I live in Hanoi and I have been to Sapa by car but never the train. I found the tourist sites super with the mini train and gondola taking passengers to the top of the mountains. Very cold. Nice video.
@scogginsscoggins oh wow.. you are so blessed. Hanoi remains one of the fav cities in the world and so excited to be heading back there next week too.
@@WanderEats I am planning to take the train to Danang in June. Maybe you should make a video on the trains services Hanoi Danang.
@@scogginsscoggins oh wow... didn't know this train service is available. I love Danang and Hoi An. Wonder how long that journey will take though.
the train station is bright and clean, and your sleeping quarters feel like it came from an Agatha Christie murder mystery❣
Hahaha... true also huh. Was a great and memorable experience no doubt.
Hi! Do you have any contact for buying the van ticket from ga lao cai to sapa? I plan to go to sapa bt train to this april
Hi Elvira... thanks for dropping by the channel. I used nomnomtravel.com to make all the arrangements for me including train and bus ticket. I find it easier since they speak great English and I've been using them for nearly 10years. Another self service portal I'd recommend is vexere.com but need to work harder as some descriptions are in Vietnamese although the site supports English too. Happy travels and enjoy your time in Sapa this April sis... cheers!
thanks for the video. May I know How you get the ticket van from laocai train station to sapa city centre. And what is the cost per person.
Most welcome Selvester. As for the train ticket, I got it for VND 418k which includes the van transfer to Sapa from Lao Cai Station. But do note I book it through my friend's travel agency and if you are keen, you can contact him too at nomnomtravel.com (his name is Alex).
I see many different company logos on this train ... may I confirm if these companies own different train cars in this long train ?
Yes you are absolutely spot on. That being said, most of them are quite similar with just different color scheme and branding. If you are traveling as a couple or can afford it, then get the dual bed cabin which are more comfy and private. Happy travels man!
Bro how much is the train ticket from hanoi- lao cai?
It cost me VND 401.000 one way for night train (RM78). It was a pleasant trip and would totally do it again too.
Hi, may i have the link for the booking of the train? Thanks!
I booked mine via a travel agent (nomnomtravel.com) but if you are keen to self service, try 12go.asia
Hows the weather there bro? You back at KL now?
Yeah back for a while already. Next trip to Saigon soon.. lol
@@WanderEats I might be at KL next week, I'll contact you
@@joesjournals woohoo... yes pls do and do share where you will be staying ya... cheers!
how was internet signal during the journey?
Sadly not good once the train left Hanoi and it was better again near the final train station. In Sapa itself its pretty decent though.
How much was your train ticket from Hanoi to Sapa?
It was VND 401k or MYR 78.00 or USD 16.50 for one way bro
How u book the ticket. Also from HCMC/Saigon?
Is there wifi on the train?
Sorry for the late reply since your comment was hidden in spam. Sadly no wifi that I am aware of. If you get the local sim card, the data is also very bad once out of Hanoi main city.
Walk in ticket available everyday?
Yes but they are usually sold out a few days in advance. So you can either do it online or buy it through a travel agency. Happy travels Sid!
