This is wonderful. Thank you so much, Marianne. You seem to be a born teacher/guide, and I’m looking forward to following through with the printed guide. Again, thank you so much for that, too!
And thank you so much Heather, for chiming in here! So glad you found this helpful and I hope you find other Whole Artist Mastery videos helpful as well! Cheers to your artistic journey...
Hi Marianne, I so appreciate your generosity with this, other videos and commitment to mentoring. Especially to those of us who might not yet be "professional" . As a communication specialist, this issue of "voice" is fascinating. Thankyou
Hi Fran! Thanks so much for sharing your perspective as a communication specialist! SO glad yu are enjoying the video content... cheers to your artistic practice, however that unfolds for you.
Excellent video Marianne! I found myself doing a mini re-live of my mentorship programs with you, as you described the various questions and connections. I completely concur with the importance of knowing oneself in all those multi-faceted ways as a means of uncovering one's voice in visual language. Having this self-awareness helps to refine one's use of materials, techniques, and content of creative expression. Thank you!
Thank you so much, Anne, for your most excellent comment summarizing this process! You really "get it" and I so admire the journey you've gone on with your paintings. The work is simply gorgeous, and so reflective of who you are as a whole person. Think of you often, and wish you well as you continue on different paths these days... 💙
Thanks for watching! If finding your artistic style / voice is something you struggle with, I'd love to hear about it and what resonated with you in this video in the comments below.
Thanks Marianne for this info. My problem is--how does knowing this help me with my work and if this will come out in my work anyway, why do I need to know about it. Thanks
Great question Virginia! I have found that knowing as much as I can about how I think, feel, where I'm most comfortable and places I'm drawn to - to know my dark and light side and everything in between - informs my understanding of why I am inspired by what I'm inspired by, which then informs my particular approach to using visual language. The composition is the "grammar" that conveys the story my intuitive voice wants to express. For me, consciously being able to "translate" my unconscious voice as a painting develops ultimately makes for a stronger painting. Greater self awareness informs this magical process! Hope this is clarifying for you, and thanks so much for your comment! 😊
