    Quick note: I LOVE the Boum. But won’t be using it live after all. I’ll be filming a video on this tiny eurorack setup I have that’ll be my end of chain! It’s sick and I can’t wait to show you.

      Had the BOUM for one week now and have to admit that with the right settings it smokes my RLNA+Sidechain HPF Combo for Live use. I mostly make Live 140BPM techno with my partner and it just adds that grit and glue I need. Had an idea for a modular "mastering" chain with a stereo eq, messor comp and some saturation/distortion but I would cost twice as much than the BOUM here in Europe.

      Hi Ricky, I have a perfect solution for you on how to use Sp404 mk2. Load it with multiple long ambient/organic samples, like rain, cityscape, people talking and just some fooley noises. Those samples can be even up to 1hour long if I'm not mistaken. Than you set the pads to loop mode without gate, trigger all of them to keep them running, and just mute them all. This way you get a free running noise machine. Now you can solo/unmute the pads you want to use, and you use the isolator of filter to slowly mix them in and out. In other words, it's a perfect tool for adding organic noises of the track intro/outro sections, or when all other parts are filtered down. Organic stuff like this will also make your set much more interesting. It's super easy to setup, so just give it a quick try. Good luck :)

    The color pallet and composition on this video is perfect. I love the lanterns putting just a slight glow on fern frond and the keyboards, the Rembrandt lighting on your face, the muted colors of your shirt, hat, the wallpaper, then the little pop of bold colors of your electronics in the corner.

    Nice to see the Dawless setup back. The first ever synth tube video I saw was one of your Dawless setup videos. Glad to see you sticking to the 3 pieces of kit rule. My first dawless setup was inspired by that video and I still make all my music using no more than 3 pieces of kit at a time.

    Just a tip about trigless program changes. I would set it's condition to 1st so it triggers only once when the pattern changes. It seems that it is not an issue with PEAK but I had a synth which would reset a preset with every loop of a pattern. And that's a problem if You want to change parameters of a synth manually on the fly.

    That's a sweet setup. Thank you for taking the time to explain how your signal chain / effects processing / Midi / tracks are all routed. I think a lot of content creators gloss over that part, but it's essential to set up your gear correctly to maximize the utility of each piece. I was a little surprised your Hologram pedal didn't make it, but I guess the table was getting crowded?

    That's a really nice and compact setup! Thanks for sharing. Here's something that's helped me overcome the 16 banks in OT vs 8 banks in DT scenario (as long as you use 8 patterns or less per track). Once you get to Bank I (9) in OT, it restarts to A in DT. By using patterns 1-8 in banks A-H and ptns 9-16 in banks I-P, you can structure a set of up to 16 tracks using the OT as master, making the most out of parts in banks in the OT.

    Looks great! I miss my DT, I sold it to get my second OT, which is awesome but I still end up missing my 8tracks of drums from the DT. But anyways I wanted to say that perhaps what you are missing here is something like a Novation launchpad pro mk3. It really becomes the headquarters for all. As a midi controller for the OT, you can also play keys in scales for your peak. And you can create crazy 64 sound sample chains on the OT. Highly recommend!

    Amazing, how many hoops you've got to jump through to get stuff done on the Digitakt that you could do 20 years ago on an MPC 1000... And yes, the newer Elektron boxes can do stuff that you can't do that easily on an older MPC. But when it comes to MIDI control and general sequencing, I really don't get why Elektron still goes for all these arbitrary restrictions in 2022...

    I'm sure you're not going to bring your SP. Especially it would be too risky on the first gig. Aside from logistics, the extra knobs and headspace required would be ill advised. But anyway, if/when you do, you could have it so just the Peak runs through the SP. That way those glitch and other effects will be contained to your "free play" section. Thanks for the fun channel!

  • @Kablehead
    @Kablehead ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Less is more. Especially with dance music. No need for beat repeat fx imo. I'd say your setup is complete.
    I know the feeling on stage when you want to tweak around with fx and stuff but most of the time it doesn't help the music. I'd say concentrate on a few changes in your tracks and ín between just have a good time and vibe and/or dance to the music. It took me a while to put my hands off the knobs on stage. I was glued to the machines and couldn't really enjoy the liveset. And i'm still struggling a bit. :) Sometimes i still feel lazy on stage because i don't tweak around all the time. But if the music is good enough (and in your case i'd say it is) then the people will enjoy it and appreciate it even more if you are relaxed and having fun on stage.

    RNLA has been a secret for a long time.. damn you 😭🤣.
    Also I'm sure you're aware, but there are parts on the octatrack that can be set per-pattern.. I use 4 patterns per part by default, so can put 4 different "songs" per bank, or have 4 different part settings per song. If you save a default part in the last bank, I'm pretty sure (from memory) you can copy a "template" back when needed.

  • @dorn_beats
    @dorn_beats ปีที่แล้ว

    Why not use the Octatrack for transitions?
    You can setup one track to record the master, and mangle it while moving to another pattern and crossfade to it.

    FMR products cant compare to Boum compressor. Both work well, for different applications, Boum is a saturation unit with compressor to help even out the boosted signal and mix dry wet, as well as upwards compression - while FMR stuff is more clinical and do what compressor or limiter should do at the end of the chain.

    Oh, it's so complex :) I'm going to make a Sampler+Mixer and FX-machine with Raspberry Pi 4. I hope it's possible inside one box.
    If somebody have good ideas (I have some but not sure about everything!), tell me, please!
    I have an only poly-synth now - A4 MK2. And I'm almost happy with it. Of course it lacks of the whole set of sound effects that I need and thus I'm gonna make something universal and compact. That's the general idea. The budget is ~500-600$
    My main dillema now is: buying a usual Raspberry Pi 4 B/B+ (no eMMC as I understand) or buying an extension board (eMMC onboard) to install the Computing Module 4 into it. eMMC serves like a hard drive but very fast.

      just go and buy a PiSound, and from there on you can program whatever you like using the organelle os by critter (it is actually pure data). you can find already a lot of patches on patchstorage

      @@seren.a3633 I bet they will not ship to Russia now.
      As a critique to this board I must say that blocking GPIO by the board (no output pins on PiSound) seems to be a bad constructive decision. For example, I want to use non-standard controllers: a ribbon, LDRs. I can't do this with PiSound after installing it. Or I need some inter-connection board between them... Not sure if it will work.
      I really want to use a ribbon and LDRs. I've tried LDRs with my "analog toys" and it's a great thing to have for live sound design.

      ah I understand.. maybe then a board between might get you there. if they ship. I think for just audio midi this board is very fair in terms of price

      @@seren.a3633 I think that MIDI IO is very doable DIY, not complex (I've seen a project). Probably I'll buy a "USB audio card" from Ali. Not sure if the quality will be good though.
      I understand that they use some premium sound chip but I'm not sure that it's very noticeable in the end. The main problems with sound usually comes with bad shielding. If the power line is separated from USB controls (when they presents) then that high-pitched noise can be avoided (and it's not always the case).
      Of course, on the DAC side - if a chip is super-cheap then it may be crappy and give some distortions.
      I have a very good (not in all aspects) motherboard for PC from Asus with a premium sound chip (which I don't use) and it costs ~this PiSound now ;) Maybe a bit more (+10-20$).
      Do you feel the difference?

      midi sure, but good Dac/Adc just cost their prices, above all in these times. but I am just not good enough to build my own from scratch
      I prefer to spend my time with creating nice patches and music instead of troubleshooting all the mistakes I made. been there and realized it's not for me. but if you can do it, you will prlly create one nice shield that fits all your needs

    Hello I believe this is the first time speaking here.
    I am completing a set of goals and I'd like to know how to interact with you on a professional level. I am most concerned about linking and working with hardware/software manufacturers. Anyways cheers and let me know a reasonable fee for 30 to 60 minutes zoom or Skype. Thank you.
