I think Zelda and Mewtwo work together in "Mewtwo Strikes!" because it's mildly referencing Mewtwo Strikes Back.
Where he took control of a Nurse Joy. So Zelda's basically an unwilling participant in this battle. Hence why you lose if you KO her.
I MIGHT be wrong about this. But I think I'm right, because the Mewtwo in Smash is based somewhat on the movie version.

I'm pretty sure Mewtwo Strikes is a reference to the movie Mewtwo Strikes Back. In that. Mewtwo kidnapped a Nurse Joy, made her look different, and made her his maid and stuff. So she basically did everything for Mewtwo before he revealed who he was. I'm pretty sure the whole Zelda thing is a reference to that.

A lot of these are made much easier if you exploit the "play as Master Hand" glitch. Because yes, it also works in single player modes.
That’s the only way I won.
A little tip for y’all struggling with certain events.
If you’re having trouble with an event that lets you pick any character, do the Master Hand glitch, and since Master Hand can only die on stamina mode, the events get INSANELY easy. Hope this helped!

To this day I've never beaten the event mode in Melee. There's so much BS you have to go through. I'm very glad Brawl and Smash 4 added difficulty options.

Trophy Tussel 3 (the one with Majora's Mask) should've been on there. Time for a Checkup was easy for me compared to that one.

I believe the reason why Zelda is with Mewtwo on that one event match is possibly a reference to the first Pokemon movie where Mewtwo had that Pokemon center woman under mind control and had her do whatever he wants. The event match is also named "Mewtwo strikes back", which was another name for the movie

Never do versus with my friend he's will defeat you! He's in grade 2 but anyone van beast him well... I can. I'm in grade 3 so he's pretty easy to beat he's always bowser but I'm Kirby or the villager but I beat him a Kirby and the villager

I thought Lethal Marathon was the hardest event in my opinion. 45 (22.5 since the game speed is doubled) seconds to get to the finish line of Stage 8-1 (F-Zero Grand Prix) from Adventure mode as Falcon..
I remember Time for a Checkup being the first event match I had real trouble with. Thankfully, I'm decent enough as playing Luigi.

Yo, for the DR Mario one using Luigi, use DOWN B A LOT PLUS NEUTRAL A MIDAIR MOVES IN ADDITION TO SMASH DOWN AND SIDE MOVES! Do it sneakily to win
The problem with Link vs Young Link one is that Link outranges you on all moves. You cannot get close enough to hit without risking to get hit yourself.

I know this is really late but I beath Event 51 as Marth and Roy before. I think I even beat it as Captain Falcon. And I was even really close to beating it with Kirby once Ganondorf was on his last life and I died.
I was just playing the events again and damn, the Ness vs the space guys and Dr. Mario and Nurse Peach are hard as balls, good video and I'm so glad Nathaniel doesn't say Guy-ga Bowser or Gendorf anymore
Well this was a nice way to start my Saturday morning
I think the Yoshi's egg event match was the hardest for me. Basically you just have to protect a Yoshi egg from Donkey Kong, Pikachu and Fox. It's not a long match, but it's annoying because it takes place on Rainbow Cruise, where there's barely anywhere to run, and when you try to fight, you'd sometimes hit the egg and break it yourself, or throw it off the edge without thinking for a second.
I’ve had this game since it’s release and just unlocked Final Destination. Space Travelers was definitely the hardest, I could get to Falcon with 0% and still lose.
For Event 50, I just used Ganondorf's up-smash (the strongest move in the game) to K.O. the hands very quickly.
The strongest attack in melee is roy netrual b fully charged it does 50%
Ganondorf is clutch, used him and beat the hands on a first try recently and beat it just over a minute
Slippy's Invention was my personal hardest Melee Event Match. Imagine fighting Fox and Falco in Melee WHILE THEY ARE INVISIBLE!!!
Although I am a Link main so Link's Adventure wasn't all that hard to me!
@Djinnesis523 I beat it by going exclusively for Jigglypuff's upthrow-rest combo (th-cam.com/video/uEA9QSM1BUU/w-d-xo.html). CPUs don't seem to DI out at the level they are in this event, and the combo works best on Fox and Falco anyway.
On The Showdown, there is an extremely easy way to beat it: simply run to the ledge and spam lasers until Giga Bowser gets too close, then double-jump side b over his head, run to the other side, rinse, and repeat, until he's in one-hit kill range. Once GB's gone, Mewtwo and Ganon will always try to block the lasers until their shields break, so... obviously, that makes things pretty easy.
Am I the only one that had so much trouble on the Brinstar Depth one where you have to kill 3 Metal Samus' with 2 stock each?
Cold Armor sucked lol. It was challenging.
Blatay Bragg I was about to say that! That one easily beats everything on this list! Doesn't help that you only have one stock and that Brinstar Depths is the worst stage in the series.

All you have to do is trick the AIs then it is easy
For any of the events that let you pick a character, use the master hand glitch. For the timed all star ones, do a grab and then do the fiery attack. This should finish them off. I think the hardest event is the ness one.

The thing about Melee’s Event Matches is that all must be completed to unlock all stages, Event 51 is for Final Destination as a selectable stage.
I always thought that Space Travelers was the hardest. My friend had to beat it for me because I just couldn't do it, the sad thing is that I'm a Ness main.

What about that event where you HAVE to pick up the poke balls and you're facing jigglypuff and other computers. And it's insane. Jigglypuff always gets legendaries.

legendary pokemon isn't really that hard of an event. use a faster character if you need to get the pokeballs before jiggly
did it on first try, I recommend using Marth because he's fast and he can get quick hits in on jigglypuff

I also found the trophy match on majora's mask to be really hard
#6 well if you noticed Zelda is darkened so I always assumed mewtwo is controlling her like ganondorf did in TP also the hardest for me is the trophy tussle the trophys were to hard to stand on for me, good thing the lottery exist in melee or I still wouldn't have the goomba trophy

Ikr, there is literally not an original thing in this video.
I guess the originality stems from his own unique thoughts and opinions on which Melee event is the hardest. There aren't that many perspectives I've heard that the Master Hand or Final Showdown event isn't the most difficult in the game. Other than that, yeah, he's not too original.

Okay, where's my gun at?
The most frustrating even for me was defending the egg as Yoshi against three agressive computers on Rainbow Cruise.
My reasons:
1. I don't play Yoshi (Nuff said.)
2. Rainbow Cruise is a scrolling stage, this means i have to move the egg myself sometimes.
3. The Computers are agressive towards the egg and if i try to stop them, i'll get Wombo Combo'ed.
4. The Computers have infinite respawn so i can't focus to kick their asses quickly.
I beat every event up to 29 because Ganondorf is my main. And since I wanted every character, I also unlocked Pichu in event 37, but after that I never touched the event mode ever again... I'm not a bad Smash Player (no competitive player, though) but some of the events are ridiculously hard.

I don't know why you felt you had to go out of your way to mention competitive players in this vid. I mean, I don't think any reasonable player would attack you for saying some event is hard when it's not to them.
Anyways, I feel like the trophy tussle matches and Cold Armor were more deserving to be in this list. The trophy tussles mostly have goofy layouts that you can't really take advantage in terms of abusing the AI, and they're usually small clusterfucks where you're always being smacked around. Cold armor has you with one stock at huge damage against 3 metal samuses that all have two stocks. I main samus myself but this event can get stupid hard. If it weren't for brinstar depths being a wonky stage, it'd probably be a contender for #1 hardest.
JahovasFitness well I definitely agree with the trophy tussles (on majoras mask I just played as Marth and kept hitting them through the horns at the top.) But I beat cold armor really easily (not saying the event is easy whatsoever I just got,lucky) the cpus fell to the bottom and WOULD,NOT,MOVE so I just came down and destroyed them

Space Travelers is actually one of my favorite event matches actually, though I didn't have much problem with the event even in the Battlefield part. What makes this good is because it brings the nod to EarthBound, there are a variety of enemies Ness has faced in the adventures, with aliens and space related enemies being among them. And all the characters Ness faces in this event are space characters/space travelers. The Battlefield part is like as if Ness was suddenly brought up by a UFO.
If there will be the hardest event I faced, a tie between Pikachu and Pichu and All-Star Match Deluxe, though I like both of those events.
Pikachu and Pichu brings a nod to one of the Pikachu short movies, which had the same name and the two Pichus are references to the Pichu Brothers.
All-Star Match Deluxe has all characters who are basically clones (I don't hate clones in fact)

supposedly, Zelda working with Mewtwo is a reference to Mewtwo's mind control powers. so in other words: mewtwo is controlling Zelda's mind, which is also why Zelda is darker in this match.
You know what event match I had trouble with? Puffball Unite. All those Kirbys kept destroying me... It took me more than 20 tries...

I guess you can always use the Master Hand exploit to complete the events that allow any character, he can help a lot.
But you know on event 49, I made it through Ganondorf without losing a life, so that did gaved me advantage and you know, obviously I lost my 1st life when I started fighting against Ganondorf. But I still completed the event.
I mained Roy back in the melee days and for me personally I found showdown to be the hardest of all and it was extremely hard doing it with Roy but eventually I prevailed.
I know this video is old, but I have a tip for one event match
On Super mario bros 2, pick samus and go to the very edge of the blastzone (not in it, but very close to it) and spam backthrow. You'll take their stocks very quickly, and quite effectively.

I agree on most but not in the same order. event 51 is the hardest, and followed by Ness against the 5 alien, at least that tastes like Giygas battle ;) I remember Majora's mask trophy challenge & Samus against 3 metal Samus event were hard for me and they weren't in your top, but what is good though is that I forgot some event matches were so hard like the allstar match! And yeah one more thing is that some are hard but not that much, Zelda Mewtwo, and may be the Pichu / Pikachu.
On number 8, the Pichus are actually harder to knock off the stage as well.
I think that Mewtwo event is an homage to the First Pokemon movie where Mewtwo took control of Nurse Joy, and the Pikachu and Pichu one is based off the mini movie(I think of the same name) from one of the Johto movies
Honestly, I did not find "Time For A Checkup" to be all that tough, however this could be because I'm a Luigi main, however I trust your opinion.
Actually, I think Space Travelers is the toughest as you’re forced to play as what I think is one of the worst characters in Melee (Ness is REALLY the last character I’d ever play in Melee-like at THE VERY BOTTOM). That Event Match was the one that took me the most time to redo. It was so PAINFUL.......
Number 4 gives me memories of when you did the frustration series, and one was all about #4.

I agree with almost all of these. Did anyone found lethal marathon to be hard? ( the one where captain falcon has to run really fast but if you get hit by the f zero cars you instantly die) honorable mentions: Trophy tussel 3 ( majora Mask) and yoshi egg

The Ness event at number 4 is the hardest one in my opinion. Great list!
I will say it is a little bit of a challenge but spamming forward smash is probably the best way to beat it. You can easily kill Samus, Kirby, and Fox without taking damage by spamming forward smash

For the Pikachu & Pichu Event Match, it's easy to beat if you perform the Master Hand glitch. Master Hand can't be KO'd, so it'll be easy to hit your opponents. I beat the Super Mario Bros. 2 Event Match using Master Hand, and it was easy. The thing with the turtle in the Termina Great Bay stage IS possible.
The Trophy Tussle events gave me a lot of hassle as a kid
