Fun fact: That chicken restaurant was started by Walter Knott's wife with her unique chicken recipe. This was back when it was still a farm. The restaurant was so popular that people would stand in long lines to get in. It was because of those lines that Walter decided to build an upcharge attraction to give folks in line something to do while monetizing their wait. That was the beginning of the park we know and love today. :)
I'm making my first trip to Knott's this year. I am so excited! Thanks for your content on the park. I really appreciate how much you help a newly reignited coaster fan with the information you provide.
Just wanted to say - really enjoying the consistent coaster content lately. Love these good off-rides shots, also love your thoughts on the rides as well! I really want to get to Knott's some time - i think Xcelerator is a bucket lister for me.
Been loving your videos, brother. Can't believe your credit count. Thanks for all the great content. My son and I love your channel. Knott's is our home park. We drive down, monthly, from Vegas.
I like HangTime far more than I should, but it's my kind of ride. It may be short, but I love the mix of strong ejector airtime & inversions, all with just a lapbar. That drop gets me every time, especially in the back, and I was able to marathon it on my last day, including 4 rides in a row at the end of the day. Awesome ride ops! I wish it could've been longer, and I wish there were more hangtime, but it's still my favorite in the park. GhostRider was running great for me last month, so it's moved up to my 2nd favorite.
Based on my visit in 2014, my favorite ride there is Timber Mountain Log Ride followed by Montezooma's Revenge, Xcelerator, Pony Express, Calico Mine Ride, Bigfoot Rapids, Coast Rider, Jaguar, Silver Bullet, Ghost Rider and Boomerang. I know this feels like a weird ranking but I expect it to change completely when I revisit within the next few years.
I got to be a ride op on the next to last Shuttle loop type 2. Greezed Lightnin' Love the sound of the clutch (but what If they could do a lim lauch?) Timber & Calico...TOPS! Hang Time (great lighting package!) What I love about "land locked" parks IS they "figure it out!" There are 3 major WORLD class themed parks in that small area. There was a Bush Gardens (but Bush didn't charge enough to keep it going) Still, 2 are land lock yet they "peacefully coexist" Yeah! The chicken, biscuits & Boysenberry is ALL how it got started. Canobie..breast, wing, leg, or thigh?
Just wait for the new giga. The lineup here is already really good and unique. They have their positives filled invert, hangtime filled Gerstlauer, lateral monster in Ghostrider, and a fantastic launch in Excelorator. Cant belive this used to be a chicken restaurant before.
I feel like montezommas revenge is super underrated like it is probably one of the top 3 most best or most fun rides at knotts. It is super forceful, and yes omg the spikes at like a 60 something degree are so fun and LOWKEY kinda scare me
One of my favorite Cedar Fair coasters is Shivering Timbers at Michigan Adventure. Such a shame that this out-and-back wooden monster is stuck at such a dismal park. Lots of fun air time and a long, long ride! Needs to be moved somewhere where it can be appreciated. Hello Valleyfair?
@Canobie Coasters I try to go to Knott's at least once a week. Ghost Rider is hands down my favorite ride there and always will be. even if they do build the giga. Edit. that 5th drop that you were talking about in the back is my favorite. especially at night
I’d actually put the Calico Mine Ride and the Timber Mountain Log Ride above everything else at the park except GhostRider, but I’m sure that’s at least in part nostalgia talking. Can’t wait to ride the new Knott’s Berry Tales. I remember I loved the old one, even if I barely remember the ride itself now.
Went to Knott’s Berry Farm in 1986. Jellies aren’t the same anymore, what’s the best coaster and flat ride in the U.S? My throat is burning, might have a touch of the omicron. 115 days till Knoebel’s Opening Day!
I agree with what you said about Sol Spin. Tame for that kind of ride. There’s a ride like that at my home park (Lagoon in Utah) it is called the Samurai there, and it is much more wild and crazy as it travels forward and backward. I’m not surprised that Coastrider didn’t make the list. What a joke that ride is! As far as a mad mouse coaster goes, Goofy’s Sky School at the famous parks down the street is way better. Coastrider is too heavily trim braked which makes the ride boring and slow. I miss Perilous Plunge that it replaced. RIP. I wonder how it would have ranked on the list?
Went to Knott's last month. Sadly wasn't able to get on Xcelerator due to the repaint. I loved basically everything about the park except the operations. The line for Ghostrider is really rough, especially since they assign seating.
See Apple Zapple at Kings Dominion. That is a Mack wild mouse, a large park model. Another installation from the same model is Coast Rider at Knott's Berry Farm. This video is about the rides you've experienced at Knott's Berry Farm. If I ask you, but why did you not put Coast Rider?
See in RCDB, Mack Rides Wilde Maus (Large Park Model). Imagine trying again to ride those three examples of the model: Fly at Canada's Wonderland Apple Zapple at Kings Dominion Coast Rider at Knott's Berry Farm What do you think about all those three to ride? Would you say, Canobie Coaster? All three are rideable.
Just started it. Please let the top two be GhostRider and Timber Mountain Log Ride. Edit: Okay, I think Xcelerator is a respectable number two. That said, I personally prefer the log flume. It's the only one that I've ridden that I think is comparable to Splash Mountain (such is the clear best log flume.) But the launch and drop on Xcelerator are top notch.
See Coast Rider at Knott's Berry Farm and Technic Coaster at Legoland California. Of those Mack wild mouse coasters, I would ask you about the smoothness and the pacing on both. And see your video of top 25 worst roller coasters in the world (2020). There was no placement for Technic Coaster in that video, but Coast Rider was placed there. So why, Canobie Coaster?
They shouldn't call it Knott's Scary Farm; it sounds too much like Not Scary Farm. I'll hit up the chicken place next time, but I'm eating KFC right now! Montezuma's Revenge is historical and even though I only rode it twice in the same day on late November 2009 I 1st heard about it when a friend of the family told us he'd ridden it. It sounded so epic I cite when I'd 1st heard about it in the late 70s or early 80s as one of the things that made me a coaster enthusiast. In early 2020 I told him I'd ridden it and he died a few weeks alter (I think he was in his 80's by then). I rode Sierra Sidewinder four rimes, all in the back car, but it only spun decently the 1st time I rode it, which was a blast. I must've been on an unbalanced car that time. It was also a night ride! I think Silver Bullet is underrated; it's a long smooth ride and only lacks a good 1st drop. Ghostrider in the back is probably the 4th best coaster I've ridden imo. My favourite part is actually one of the two airtime hills following the drop off the MCBR; more likely the 1st. But the 1st drop and drop off the MCBR are amazing too, not to mention the it's a very long ride on a wooden coaster and it also features Millennium Flyer trains since it was re tracked by CGI. I'd be willing to guess that after Python in Bamboo Forest (aka Viper) and Mountain Flyer; both in China, Ghostrider is the next best coaster in the world with Millennium Flyer trains. Thanks for this video!
Those banked bunny hills on GhostRider are great since they combine airtime and laterals. I like the name Knott’s Scary Farm myself, but I can see your point.
What do you think about those shin guards on Coast Rider for a 16 year old person? A) Most 16 year olds find the shin guards tight but not intolerable, so they don't mind them and allowed to appreciate the ride. B) Most 16 year olds love the ride with the shin guards, with the first plunge being their favorite part. C) Most 16 year olds hate the ride with the shin guards, they find it intolerably painful. D) Most 16 year olds find the shin guards added enough to improve the ride in safety, but overall not very changed.
At Knott's Berry Farm, imagine riding again those coasters: GhostRider HangTime Xcelerator Montezooma Sierra Sidewinder Coast Rider Jaguar Pony Express What do you think about them in ride experience? I also include Coast Rider because that also looks like a rideable family/thrill coaster at the park.
Was so disappointed with HangTime this past visit a few days ago that I would personally rank that coaster 5th behind Ghostrider, Xcellrator, silverBullet, and Sierra Sidewinder. I will say for a coaster like HangTime to be fifth does speak for the overall quality of Knotts but HangTime needs some track work or something. Seems unnecessarily rough in multiple spots.
I was also asking you things about rides and coasters at Knott's Berry Farm. See GhostRider. What was your favorite part of the ride, the first drop? And would you like to ride GhostRider again? What do you think?
Also, try riding again those rides and coasters at Knott's Berry Farm: GhostRider HangTime Calico Mine Ride Timber Mountain Log Ride Supreme Scream Jaguar Pony Express Sierra Sidewinder Coast Rider Based on how they currently run, what would you think?
This park looks absolutely amazing, and I guarantee your top 15 will change once the new giga is built!
*IF* it is built
The giga likely would be 1.

@@CanobieCoaster I know right!
Liked looking at the different rides you have. Definitely looks like a lot of fun. Much love from Queensland Australia 💜
I hope to get to Australia someday.
I love Ghostrider. One of my all time favorite coasters.

I like ghost rider hang time and xcelerator but my favorite is the Log ride
All great rides.

Whilst I have not been on Sierra Sidewinder I have been on Storm Chaser at Paultons Park and that ride is crazy and pulls some great forces.
I can see why this layout has been cloned.
Ghostrider is absolutely the best ride at the park. CCI Goodness
Agreed.
I like HangTime far more than I should, but it's my kind of ride. It may be short, but I love the mix of strong ejector airtime & inversions, all with just a lapbar. Hang Time is by far the scariest, but my favorite is the Calico River Rapids.
Calico is a fun one.

A little off topic but montezumas revenge reminded me. Is Indiana beach still getting cascabel 2.0 in the future or did those plans fall through?
If it does the US will have 2 shuttle loops
I believe Gene Staples bought the ride, but it hasn't been said where it will go.

Why do you not like Coast Rider?

The shin restraints are atrocious. No other wild mouse has them.
What would happen if they remove the shin guards on Coast Rider?
It would go from abysmal to simply below average.
How many coasters do you know with shin guards?
A lot have them.
Did you know Xcelerator was open again after it was closed in 2022 and 2023?
