got a 06 outback, a failed ignition lead caused misfire and cooked the cat which was already on its way out, local Subaru dealer (Australia) quoted over 4k for the parts only, managed to get a scrap part and happy days
You could always just buy a non-cheap direct fit cat. In California all our cats must be state certified and include a 24 month warranty against 420's.
I have a question for you about the weld flange??? In your vid you said yours was corroded would you say that most of the time they are corroded or was that maybe it's just something specific to your vehicle????
@@amendoza1493 I have p0420 and I reset it before each emission test (the trick is to pass emission test before all but one sensor is ready, then the last sensor is "ready" the CEL will come on again). Delaying the inevitable.
If you put it in, what was the problems? Are you saying you never got it in and that was the only problem? Come on, how far was it off, you couldn't bend or tweak it. You just suddenly gave up at the end.
Sorry, if that was confusing, the problem with the cheep aftermarket catalytic converter wasn't the installation. I installed it fine with a little bit of encouragement and some copper silicone rtv. The problem was that it didn't function properly as a catalytic converter, I got a code once saying that it wasn't working properly. As well, I would get weird idling issues, that I believe was related to the oxygen sensors getting a low reading. Basically, my car didn't run very well after I installed the cheep aftermarket catalytic converter. Worse than it ran with the damaged OEM catalytic converter.
I upvoted this because of the thumbnail and the cat meow at the start
what were the main issues you experienced with the cheaper converter ?
Thanks for the video, it came in handy getting rid of an old exhaust n selling it
Just in case anyone is curious, looking online prices range from as low as $145, to as high as $700 for the full double unit.
Link please
@@Doesitmatter666 Google, bro. ...but if you know a mechanic, hit up Rock Auto for the parts.

Do you know if a 2003 Subaru Impreza has one cat or two...? Mine is looking like one cat and two resonators, but I’m not entirely sure.

That's something specific to any vehicle driven in the winter in north eastern North America.
