- BEAST Broadheads VS. SEVR Broadheads || Best Mechanical Broadhead for Deer Hunting. In this week's video, we compare the Beast Broadhead designed by Josh Bowmar to the Sevr Broadhead. The Beast broadheads are relatively new to the market when compared to the Sevr broadhead, but the technology of the Beast broadhead has me questioning if the Sevr is still the best mechanical broadhead for deer hunting.

if they were offered 3 per pack instead of 2 i’d try them. they do look good but not good enough to justify the price.

I don't really think anyone is saying its a poorly designed broadhead. Everyone is saying they don't like the bowmars, which is deserved.
A lot of people have commented on the design.
Bowmar is a douche but the poacher stuff is overused. All these dudes out here throwing stones, yet i gaurentee live in glass houses.. they bending or breaking rules they feel aint as serious in their own mind..
@StealthTRD In the heat of the moment, it's easy to make port judgment calls, especially when big deer are on the line. I listened to a podcast by a guy named Donnie Baker. It's a good listen.

This is the perfection of the Atom broadhead. Makes me wonder if Arrow Dynamic Solutions is upset. They have been trying to achieve this for 20 years.
Have you seen the Veteran or Combat Veteran broadhead?

How does that reduce bone contact? The sling will still be pushing the blade out to the bone making contact with it full length of blade making it duller
If you hit a bone, there is no way to avoid it but since the blades flex back, it allows the broadheads to close/flex down allowing it to pass through easier.
If one blade hits a bone, then that blade would fold reduce the possibilityof deflection.
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors ok so sevr will swing to the side to prevent deflection. I’m just saying at that cost point the actual advantage is not there. If the blades get dull pass through or not means nothing. At that price I’d rather spend money on fixed head tool steel that won’t dull from a rib is all. 3x the cost to a sevr for how much gain is the real question. After shooting a rage once and never got enough penetration was enough for mechanical for me but been thinking bout trying the sevr and this one looks good just not at that price.
@welderoo, that's a solid point. The designs are similar, and that's why I did the detailed comparison: so people can see side-by-side what they are looking at and what they are paying for.
Although I think the Beast is worth the extra money, that's my opinion. I'll know more once I can test them this season.

Can someone educate me on the bowmar poaching situation?
I like the Double Cross. Watched a couple over the top reviews on the beast and one guy doing a review pretty much said before he started testing it that he would not buy it
The only real problem I see with this broad head is that after that hard entry it just wants to close up regardless of bone
It takes a lot of pressure to close or to get them to fold back. I doubt any soft tissue will have enough resistance to push those blades back.
It would be much more popular. The price kinda goes along with the reputation of the bomars. I’m sure it would be much more popular

Beast is a broadhead I want to love but I can’t bring myself to pull the trigger on buying a pack. I just love my Grim Reapers too much. $45 for 4 heads at my local shop and they leave a nightmarish amount of blood on the ground. Maybe one day I’ll cave and give em a try but not this season
My buddy uses the Grim Reapers and swears by them. I keep meaning to test them out.
My experiences with them are they do leave a remarkable wound channel, BUT, they do like high KE bows. I know with my Hoyt RX5 i’m pulling 70lb at 30in and have no problem with getting pass throughs out to 30yds all day. Online i know there are people who say they don’t get adequate penetration but i would be willing to bet their bow just isn’t adequate to be flinging that massive of a 3 blade

Is it the head or Bomar? I didn’t really know who the guy was a few years back. I checked out his videos, I don’t relate it the guy. That’s just me. Shocked to see he had over a million subs.
I have followed him for a long time. Two years ago, he got caught up in a poaching scandal (I'm not here to debate if he did or didn't do it), but since then, he's received some backlash.
I enjoy his content, and I think they make archery products that have a lot of value, like the nose button and these broadheads.
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors I give the Bowmars the benefit of the doubt because my father got caught up in a similar situation many years ago. He had no clue the outfitter was up to no good, but still got a ticket.
How about replacement blades do you have those?
If for some reason, you bend or break a blade and or the blades become too dull to hunt with and there’s no replacement blades then this head would be a one and done.
And the spring system……VERY similar to the Veteran and Combat Veteran heads.
There are no replacement blades, which is definitely a downside.

The head I personally think is a good design and I agree if it was not made by the bowmars it would not get hardly any hate besides from the ppl that hate mechanical heads. The bowmars bring on the hate themselves with 100 yard plus shots on moving animals, the over drama videos ect... Some of his new videos of the beast are pretty cool wth video of shooting thru real animal lung and rib cage. Wish it was done with a 70 over bow not 90plus lbs
Agree. It would be interesting to see the results on a 70-lb, but if I’m not mistaken, that’s what Sarah Bowmar pulls, and she is seeing great results.
I thought he should’ve had Sara shoot her bow since her DL is short. That would sell more of the BHs if they performed the way it did with his 90+ lbs bow. the same as if it was coming out of Sara’s shorter DL.

@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors yea did you see video when josh shot the sprite 2 liter on slow mo and the broad head opened prematurely before impact on sprite bottle and it cause his arrow to go crazy
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoorsalso I will say I love the head mainly how sharp the blades are and the design however I don’t like the premature opening and I also don’t like the ferrule being aluminum and the fact the thread shaft is another piece so if I understand it correctly there is the tip the ferrule the blades the spring the shaft threads that’s a lot parts mainly the ferrule is not durable at all I wish sevr would figure out beast blades and make there blades like beast then that would be it perfect I use sevr but I will say if Josh changed his ferrule material I would use them

I've never shot a lot of G5 heads.
They mean well with this. But I promise you expandables will fail you. Shoot a good fixed blade. don't wound animals, even with perfect shots.

One of the best broadheads ever designed. Bowmar is a great guy. Losers hate on success. Is what it is.

It has many other features that make it a great option, but yes, the spring technology allows it to pass through bone and decreases the possibility of deflection.

Shoot a real broadhead that has structural integrity, and will 100% deployment and always be equally deployed on both sides. Also known as a fixed blade
I value your opinion and may try out some iron wills next year.
I'm going to be honest with you, if there was a way to make the mechanicals more reliable, they would be top dog.... We just aren't there yet in the technology.

I’m always tinkering and changing but the best mechanical I’ve ever used that made best blood trails were NAP Spitfire. Killed more deer with that one than any.
I've also heard great things about that head, but I've never tested it.

What is the hate with bowmar, what controversy did I miss. Is it PETA's team of furries or did the bowmars actually do something wrong
He was accused of poaching... he didn't poach and was never charged. It went to court, and they won their case. Some people are just holding on tight. There's also the bear thing. Basically the media likes to cling on to the Bowmars because they have a huge following and the trains already rolling. Low hanging fruit, if you will.
They took a plea deal in a poaching case so they wouldn't have to take it to court, they overdramatize everything they do for views, they (Sarah especially) don't take any criticism on anything. All that aside, they also take very poor and risky shots, and wound wayyy too many animals. Josh wounded the most dangerous mammal in Africa at 20yds, after wounding a grizzly bear at 70 in Alaska, they both have a horrible track record on clean kills on whitetails, and Josh seems to be advocating that people take 100+ yd shots as long as they can shoot good enough groups since no one can name a distance that no animal hasn't been wounded at. They have set themselves up for hate by creating an image that needs dramatic kills on huge animals to continue the wow factor among the uneducated, and when you say "hey taking 140yd shots on moving animals is unethical by almost every interpretation of the word" they get pissy
@@madwe2269you hit the nail on the head brother. Lost all respect and any true outdoors man would do they same if they actually paid attention. It’s different making a bad shot versus taking a bad shot. One is semi uncontrollable the other is all on the choice you make. I can live with making a poor shot. But I will never take one knowing it’s a low percentage shot.

Well being produced by poachers is an issue. I want to conduct businesss with good people and good companies in all stages of my life. Finding out it’s the bowmars broadhead is reason enough not to buy even if it’s the best design in the world.
I respect your opinion on the matter, and I understand why people feel the way they do, but what gets me is when people assume the head is trash without ever testing it because the Bowmars made it.
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors oh I’m sure it’s a solid design. Looks almost like a rage crossed with a schwacker. They harvest enough animals where you would sure as hell think they know what works. It’s just the. People behind the business for me.

They definitely have put down some very large game animals and have been doing extensive testing
Just to expensive in my opinion for two heads i don't care who there from same with the uvv arrows to over priced

All they did was take another brands design and re lable it. Vip broadheads already has had this design out for years

i hate when people blame heads for lost deer, a double lung with a field point will anchor a deer.

Sevr 1.5 and the 1.75 have worked flawless for me and great blood trails. Deer never go far and always a good cut
