HIGH WATER AND DRY DROPPERS - Fly Fishing for Rainbow Trout with my Girlfriend

My girlfriend Annika (@flyfishannika) and I set out on a day off mission to float some very high water and try our luck finding fish tight to the bank, or in any soft water. We fished dry dropper rigs with 2x tippet. The best setup for us was the 9 foot 5 inch Western fly rod by the fly project. This 5wt has a fighting butt and the extra 5 inches allowed Annika to pick up a big Chubby with a deep, heavy dropper and re cast with ease. Especially when it came to setting the hook as well, or fighting these healthy fish in strong current. We really hoped you enjoyed this one. Don't be discouraged to fish high water if you're safe and know your limits. You'll have the river to yourself, but it'll take some extra effort fishing unique methods, heavier, deeper, etc.

You’d be a blast to fish with. Every fish you caught was “oh my god, it’s so big.” You’re like a guides dream come true. 12” whitefish “oh, it’s a huuuuuge whitey”. 16” rainbow “got em, big bow.”
It’s just fun to have some fun! We think a 16” cutty on a 4wt is fair enough to get excited for! If we weren’t why would we go?

Exactly how I tie my droppers to the bend of the hook, I always think its hilarious watching people try to tie it around the hook itself.
when you use all barbless hooks its not really an option or you shouldnt because it will fall off and if you get the bottom hook snagged or a fish hits it it will rip the top hook out of the fishes mouth.. ive had this happen on huge fish and its no fun so i always use dropper tags
