So glad I wasn't the only one that caught that. It's pretty rad that he talked about that a few weeks ago and you can see that he actually does what he shares from his knowledge base
Great guard by Gabriel. Grips had Keenan looking frustrated. But it was eye-opening how quick the end came after that. Makes you wonder how much time Gabe spends on his guard vs defending subs and working bad positions. It seemed like he performed no jiu jitsu at ALL once his guard was passed. Fatigue or nerves maybe? Or a hole in training?
Nunya Business yeah Gabriel obviously has a good enough guard his training partners don’t pass him ever . Maybe not his professor either. When your guard is that good people just don’t pass and he probably doesn’t give any positions . Still you’d think if your number one weapon was guard work you’d be good and diligent about recovering guard . I’m not surprised he got passed but just giving the back like that was lazy .
Mr Deadkat I had a horrible time with that when I first started Jiu jitsu . Even after I got my blue belt if someone passed my back or mounted me I basically would laugh it off or accept the position. Now I will die before you pass my guard because if you do I lose anyway so I will do the same . I will expend every effort I can to not be mounted , have my back taken , or get passed
Chandiwira Beza there is something to be said for becoming proficient defensively in all the bad positions. By the time a person reaches black belt they should have some positions they excel at certainly, but they should not be terrible in any position. Even escaping certain submissions should at least be familiar and explored by black belt. Naturally blue belt is still a beginner rank so there will be gaping holes nearly everywhere. Thats one reason i love the lifelong approach to jj though, the constant journey.
Keenan's Cardio has decreased trumendously this last 3 years. I remembre his first year as a black belt he was on fire and more submission focused but in the end of the day i think this elite guys have lot of injuries that we dont know about...
more than injuries I think the reason why Keenan's cardio is like that is that he is teaching rather than training so he can not prepare as in the past.
Nah dude . Keenan was pushing the pace and trying hard to pass . Standing passes , knee cuts , torreado, hoping sides , leg drag , back steps . He was just grinding and grinding and grinding at angles and breaking grips . Gabriel played an insane defensive guard. Sometimes it just goes that way. This style of match is excruciating for both guys
I love the transition to back from North-South. Next time I get to roll I hope I remember to try this. I miss Jiu Jitsu, lockdown is WAY gayer than BJJ. BJJ is only gay when you make eye contact. Lockdown is full blown coked out homosexuality on poppers and steroids...
@@fritzdagger New to BJJ, 51 y/o blue belt with 3 three years. I've tried a variation with the gi, not the belt. I'm always learning, thank you for posting Keenan. /bow
That back take was magic
Up-down-left-right great job passing! Slick back take!

Notice the “up, down, side to side” guard passing, always switching angles. Keenan with the relentlessness, constantly blitzing the pass.
That guys guard was pretty ridiculous though
And colored belts?

His cardio seems good though
His opponent had a ridiculous guard

I hear ya brother, not being able to train/roll is the hardest thing right now and it's making me go insane

Happy for you being gay. Now it just takes some time for you to acknowledge. Best of luck on your journey. ♥️
North South back take, what....
Totally not a new thing. My coach is a brown belt and has done it to me numerous times over the 2 years I have been training.
Gold Dee yeah I started doing that about a decade ago.
