    I think if that old fella was still with you he would have said they were nuts that kept the Buzz Bar on and not screws. Very good though, keep them coming.

    Great stuff. Can ask a quick question, what was the reason for changing glow plugs. I have a 2018 Avensis 2.2D4D with 150k miles on it. It takes about 60 seconds to get car started in morning. Churns over for the full 60 secs, then fires. It is like there is no fuel getting to injectors, or could it be glow plug problems?

    • @amateurtorque6709
      @amateurtorque6709  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Paul, the reason for the change was that the car was chewing on while trying to start, so the cheapest thing to change was the heater plugs. The next common problem on these to change is the SCV valve.

    Good video mate, thanks👍
    Quick question, mine also starts slow in cold. In these engines the glow plugs are connected linear (not paralell) to each other right? I made measures with tool, every glow plugs seems to close the circuit if i measure on top of the glow plug.
    BUT I didnt remove the cabel that connects the plugs, so of only 1 plug is OK, it will show me closed circuit on every 4? Because the circuit closes on that 1 plug?!??!?
    Next time should i remove the cabel and measure only the plugs directly, am i right? Thanks, sorry for long question

    • @colincrooky
      @colincrooky 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Gabor.
      The glow plugs are in parallel and not in series (linear) which means every glow plug will receive 12v, if they were in series each plug would only receive 3v each.
      Therefore to test each glow plug you will need to remove the buzz bar and check with an ammeter and get a reading of more than 10 amps on each one. If there is less than that the glow plug needs to be renewed. It is always Best Practice to renew all glow plugs together.
      However, if your car has not had new glow plugs for more than 5 years it is best to renew them all anyway if you demand reliability. Colin

    Hi Geordie Great Job 👍👍was it your Dad,Grandad,Uncle or just a friendly Neighbour giving the advice in the Background??. He sounds like a great mentor and teacher.
    I have had a Toyota Auris D4D 2007 for the last 4 years, 150,000 Miles on the clock it has been the best vehicle I have ever owned for reliability and passing MOT,s without too much trouble usually just wear and tear items like Tyres and brake pads.
    I am thinking of buying a slightly newer Toyota but can't make my mind up which to go for between a Yaris 1.4D an Avensis 2.2D or a Previa Diesel,,,was only thinking about a Prius but they are at the very top end of my budget still and usually ex Taxis with high mileage..
    Just wondering what your thoughts are on the Avensis ??... Can't believe the Little Yaris 1.4D does almost 60 Mpg and is £20 a year to Tax.
    I do find the Diesels with the 6 Speed gearboxes go like a train on the Motorways.
    Any keep up the great work and all the best from Scouse Land.

      Hi Stephen, enjoyed reading your comment. sounds like your Auris is doing well. I have driven the Lexus CT200, which is basically a Prius in nicer clothes, and they are great around cities for MPG, but they are just a slow petrol on motorways. if your driving is mainly town or city go for a prius but if your journeys are country roads or motorways go for a big diesel. Let me know what you go for. My mentor is my father in law, he was an army mechanic for 4 years then an AA mechanic for 27 years.

    Good video. I have the same engine on a Toyota Corolla Verso D4D. He's 82,642 miles and has had trouble starting for some time, especially when it's cold. I think it was the candles that died. Could you give me the exact reference and brand of the candles? Thank you. ( And sorry for the mistakes, I'm French so my English is bad )

    Is delay illumination of dash light related to heater plug busted?

    • @amateurtorque6709
      @amateurtorque6709  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think so, the glow plug on the dashboard generally relates to the amount of time the heater plug relay sends signal to the heater/glow plugs.

    hi, I have a problem with my 2.0 diesel avensis that it starts hard when cold and starts well when warm and the rpm fluctuates, jumps up and goes back and then the power goes away. Do you have any tips?

    You can use a universal joint attachment to remove that last obscured glow plug

    Hello
    i have the same problem, it starts hard sometimes in cold weather
    but for me the glow plugs work, what can be a SCV valve?
    with you only with the replacement of glow plugs is it okay

    • @amateurtorque6709
      @amateurtorque6709  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My car still takes a while to start in the summer, winter is fine as the glow plugs are new. Someone on the Toyota Forum suggested it could be the SCV valve, but I'm in no rush to replace that as it always starts.
