Grateful for your simple and clear explanation about the difference between CRM and ERP. Let's see what I've grasped CRM: Focus on boosting sales(outward). and ERP: Focus on reducing cost(inward).
Nowadays, CRM is coming closer and closer to being an ERP, but ERPs are still the bigger set of solutions. Maybe CRM is like the little brother of ERP.
Thank you so much for clarification of CRM and ERP. Now I know what to say in a job interview in case they ask me to. Those terms have been in job description and I got scared to apply for those jobs.😥 smh
I personally have never seen an ERP system help reduce costs. It may help you get an overview of where your money is going, if you enter your data correctly at least (wich is a huge challenge for most by the way). Id say ERP is an elaborate tool to keep track of where everything is, was and needs to go with regards to inventory and finances. If the system is rigid and you have strict policies on customizations. It may also help with the institutionalization of processes.
ERP is synonymous with accounting and every business needs an accounting system to get started. CRM is all about helping you make sales - new customers and repeat customers. It also helps you track lead flow and make sure no steps are missed in your sales process. If you are brand-new, start with accounting and then focus on getting the sales piece (CRM) up and running soon as you can!
Why not both? CRM provides pipeline and demand forecasting information that can manage planning and provides further cost reduction/execution efficiencies => just in time manufacturing and production
Hello! In short, D365 Sales is the CRM equivalent, and Business Central is the ERP equivalent. D365 Sales is going to be more focused on the customer relationship, while BC is more focused on inventory management and invoicing.

Thank you! You explained it so well! Love the analogy to think of CRM as "outward" facing and ERP as "inward" facing .

That is a great perspective, thank you!
if someone is incapable to enter data correctly, then there is a huge potential in costs reduction
Excellent funky music at the end also
I worked both system CRM and ERP/Net Suite and to me ERP/ Net Suite is more for leads and sales ,both systems are good and easy to use.

Hey... we are startup company and what would you recommend for us initially to go with CRM or ERP?
ERP is synonymous with accounting and every business needs an accounting system to get started.
CRM is all about helping you make sales - new customers and repeat customers. It also helps you track lead flow and make sure no steps are missed in your sales process.
If you are brand-new, start with accounting and then focus on getting the sales piece (CRM) up and running soon as you can!

Yes, it’s confusing why the question would be posed to choose ‘one or the other’ as the goals for using both are quite different.
Thank you so much
Good job my brother👏👏
Ian Tawanda ..o
so... CRM is kinda like Salesforce where ERP is like AWS. More or less.
