Yes, and I think this is how the shoe cleaner got me. He refused to give me a price, he left it open in purpose. In the future if I'm not given a price I'm walking away.
@@silas-brown Very informative video. Being scammed always creates this inner hate towards the people but honestly just let it be a lesson and not worry too much about it. It must be a rough life out there if they have to do that to make a living sadly
Interesting Silas. Just a little reminder to not just go blythely along but just be aware. Pay attention. There are scammers everywhere, even more so in these challenging times.
Never purchase a service in SE Asia without knowing the price beforehand and never hand over large notes until you can physically see the change dude. I would have walked to a shop where I could have changed it myself in that situation….having said that I had some cash grabbed out from my hand by a cyclo-taxi guy in HCM before!
So 400k for that guy? It's sad to hear that, but don't hesitate to speak louder if you're in this position again :D, i really like ur all long videos :D
@@silas-brown yup, i watched ur all videos with no skip, If you come to Vinh City one day, maybe I will invite you for a beer, but my English is not good enough to communicate well, If you speak loudly, the scammer will be scared of you, haha
Wow, you watched them all in one go! Amazing!!! I had never heard of Vinh City before. Looks like an interesting place. Yes, i had just arrived from Australia when the shoe cleaner pulled his tricks on me and I wasn't prepared. But your correct, I should have been more assertive. Thanks for watching and commenting 😀
@silas-brown haha okay, Vinh city is a small city in Central Vietnam, in Nghe An province, where President Ho Chi Minh was born, who was named hochiminh city, they still keep the house where Uncle Ho lived when he was young to make a museum here
Another thought. Maybe one should always ask beforehand the cost of a service.

Yes, your right. You have to be on your toes, especially as a foreigner.

Wow, never heard of this scam😮
It's a unique scam.
You should be carefull when you purchase somethings from vendors in street. Somes of them are not honest and you may be their ATM machine
This is a very good point. Unfortunately not everyone is acting honestly.

OK, interesting. That makes Vinh City important historically for Vietnam, being the birth place of Ho Chi Minh!
