  • At first glance, there is little to suggest that John Mellencamp, a pillar of the '80s heartland rock movement, and Mick Ronson, David Bowie's trusted sidekick, would have much common ground. But their juxtaposing backgrounds and personalities may have been just the right concoction for a hit song. In today's edition of Odd Couples, we examine how their collaborative partnership developed.

The glitter that Mick Ronson sprinkled on so many rock classics is pure Gold dust from Bowie to Reed to Mellancamp to Morrisey

Can’t get more opposite than glam rock and regular rock. Except maybe British and American.

Mick Ronson, who was classically trained said, "There is no jazz musician or any rock musician. We're all simply musicians playing music."
He was fantastic. I'm glad that Mellencamp acknowledges him and his contributions.

You're not allowed to talk about things you don't really know about or do things you are interested in. Name a mick RONNO Ronson song off the top of your head exactly. YOU'RE OUT OF YOUR DEPTH GIRL...move on to Katy, Miley, things you listen to. not musicianship. unless you come back and put me in my place? it will be slaughter on tenth street

Amen! She needs to stick to Doggy Parton or Saline Deon, not Tommy Cooger.

At least get the name of his album right if you’re gonna try to slag off someone who made a concise and well researched video. She knows her shit. You don’t.
