We always put a bit more rice in the peppers and cabbage but I imagine that was my mom trying to make everything stretch a bit further. I am loving all your recipes… they remind me so much of my mom’s cooking and I am learning so much from your bbqing tutorials - thanks so much! And that voice- wow!
Yes, the rice is the filler if you're looking to stretch this meal out a bit lol. But funny how we like what we had growing up. Off camera I do add more rice to mine because that is what we had as kids lol.

I use my food processor quite a lot. A lot of people don't know about using the flat blade to shred veggies. I don't buy pre-mixed coleslaw, I shred the cabbage and carrots using the food processor. I also shred brussel sprouts that I pan fry with bacon. My ex-wife's mother had a meat grinder, I would grind my own hamburger. A local butcher shop would also sell trimmed fat that I would add to either chuck or sirloin..Those were the best..

The meal looks soooo delicious! When i make cabbage rolls, I separate the cabbage leaf’s before putting them into the hot water and gently cook them until tender. They always come out perfect. Just a suggestion you may want to try. I really enjoy your cooking channel!😊

You have got to be kidding. BACON SAUCE on potato dumplings. That is outrageously delicious! I haven't made stuffed cabbage roll or stuffed peppers in a long time. With your recipes, there is no reason not to have diversity at the dinner table. Give us a heads up; when is your cook book being published? These are recipes that need to be passed down. Question: Can you use day old cooked rice ? Can you pan or deep fry or oven brown the potato dumplings? Great job. I am so hungry.

I'm Ukrainian and I approve this recipe! My Grandma used to cook like this and everything was so delicious. I've taken up cooking and have made some of her old recipes now at home and love it. @@bbqsouthernstyle Awesome! I watched the Pierogie video, but, my Grandma made them differently... she only filled them with mashed potato, then boiled them. Once they floated, she served them buttered. This was in the 1970's in Brooklyn, NY when I was a kid. After they were boiled, my Dad liked his fried up a bit, and she would take the boiled pierogies and fry them up a bit in a skillet with butter for him. I preferred them just boiled and buttered. Either way, they were served with some amazing kielbasa. I appreciate your cultural diversity in cooking, so much to enjoy with food recipes!
Ummm 😋 I would’ve never thought to mix red and yellow onions until I started watching you cook…very interesting concept!This is a great meal…perfect for me! I love that the meat is ground and versatile, it can be used in the cabbage and peppers, and I can use the vegan chicken broth, too! The potato dumplings are a great addition, especially with the bacon sauce. This meal has a wide variety of flavors, but they all complement each other nicely! Great job! Oh Yes. Once a Month Mom would do everything you made today, in the fall of the year on a Sunday. And the leftovers two day's later was out of this world. Umm umm. This is going to be great, notice that the beef is a course grind, once thru the grinder, wish he had ground a little up thru the food processor just as an example. Love our So BBQ chef❤

@@bbqsouthernstyle- yes they freeze beautifully and vacuum- sealing a great idea ( but freeze first, then vacuum seal so they don’t get vacuumed into a pile of mush- lol )
I cook mine on the stove top, I put Bavarian sauerkraut in the bottom, then layer the rolls on top, then I pour a full can/bottle of tomato juice over it, adding a bit of water to make sure all the rolls are covered.

I add some sauerkraut to the top of my cabbage rolls, i have not ground my meat before, that looks better then using pre ground ❤
