Developed by Kojima Productions and published by Konami, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker was released for PlayStation Portable in June, 2010. It was later released as part of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for PlayStation 3 in November, 2011. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is a bite size Metal Gear experience that's best enjoyed with friends.

an underrated game in the series
Just judged as a PSP game, it was amazing. But people have tried to argue it's better than mainline MGS games so despite been a solid game, I'd personally say it's been a bit overrated from that point of view. The missions/scenario quality, bosses, story, characters, soundtrack, etc are just okay for me.
After playing GZ/Phantom pain it's clear PW was abit of a prototype for those games.@@idakev
Personally would have preferred if this part of Big Boss's story was given to a mainline direct sequel to MGS3 instead of a side-game.
It is a direct sequel to MGS3 tho. Kojima wanted to call it MGSV originally lol. Just cause it was released on handheld doesn’t make it a side game imo. It’s only seen that way because it doesn’t have a number, and that wasn’t probably the plan
@@NoName-mb7ng I didn't say it wasn't a direct sequel. I said I wanted the continuation of the story to be in a *"mainline* direct sequel" (mainline console game).
Hideo Kojima may have wanted to call it MGS5 but he also mentioned how it being a PSP game changed it versus the mainline games.

The missions/level design, boss fights, story and cinematics just aren't close to a normal MGS game as a result. I hope my point is clear now.
Not only is this game a sequel to mgs3 but it’s a great prequel to mg1.
I own this for the Xbox 360. Asides from being happy its backwards compatible, I also completed about 90% of the game by myself due to not having internet at the time.
I still remember the end cutscene of this game to this day. So sad
I am surprised that you complained about small areas and liner stages as it was a PSP game after all.
Wasnt that happy with Hayters performance in Peace Walker. Had too much old snake left in his portrayal. I hope he brings it back to MGS1/2 performance if theres ever a new MGS.

I loved peace walker! It was my favorite game on my psp
We all know what next, Metal Gear Solid 5 Ground Zero and Phantom Pain. Afterwards, it will be Section 8 and Prejudice.
My favorite Metal Gear. I haven't played 4 or 5 though.
4 is a bit sketchy to play because you need to have a ps3 but i recommend to play 5 it's an awesome game tho the story is not as good as the other mgs games
I just wish PW was harder and with more extra ops centered around stealth, recovery and sabotage instead all the spongy mech and AI fights. Still, the Monster Hunter ones are awesome albeit clunky.

I really liked the game. Had a great time until I got my platinum trophy. The gameplay can become addictive. Storywise I think like you, that the series has told better stories, but it is not bad by any means and has some interesting bits.

It's not Sony exclusive, just sold separately under the name "MGS PW HD" specifically. Have it on my xbox just fine.

I never actually beat this one thanks to that awful torture sequence. No matter how hard i spammed the button, it would never work. Damm near broke my ps3 and ps vita.

Peace Walker is when Metal Gear Solid died in my opinion. I did not care at the time because i considered it a side game for a portable system. The story was dumb nonsense but there was still some MGS things and character in it and it didn't have any significant impact on the story and characters of the future games so i just shrugged it off. Same with the gameplay, it was just some gimmick for portable gaming so i did not care.
It wasn't until all the things in it made it to the next alleged entry in the series that it became a major issue. And story wise...Peace Walker is MGS2 compared to the absolute putrid tripe that is V.
Peace Walker is when MGS died but it's like it died in the toilet after it retired. Not the most dignified death, but eh, it was after retirement and that's not what it will be known for. V was like being brought back to life in the center stage and then...PAZed to death.
lmao you clearly have 0 idea about the story, its always been crazy my guy and all of this was set up from 3 and we see the consequences in 4 and V is the further build up to that so what are you talking about?
