    In 2000 i saw how Agent 47 interacted with foliage like the leaves will move, it blowed my mind back then, even today when i see it it's so cool.

    About the low framerate in the jungle mission, you have to decrease the draw distance in the widescreen fix's ini file only during it

    I played Hitman when it originally came out, and it was clunky even back then. They improved it a bit in the sequel, but it's still very loose when you move him or shoot. It only started to improve with Hitman Contracts, in my opinion. I never cared for the absurd cloning story, though; I was all about the gameplay and tackling the missions.

    The game is really rough around the edges and dated but it showed genuine potential, if not for this one we wouldn't get the superior sequels

    The return of the prodigal son! Didn't expect you to make this review. A lot of people complained about the game's difficulty upon its release and while I somewhat agree, it did have a semi-checkpoint system. That's really what the difficulty setting affects - Easy gives you up to 5 lives, if you die press Spacebar and you respawn in one of the checkpoint areas. Hard mode gives you 1 or 2 lives at most. It's mission-dependent, harder missions give more checkpoints. The game is still pretty unforgiving and can be vague in what you're supposed to do, but that gives it charm. It's really a "figure-out-on-your-own" type of game and I remember playing this on my old computer with no Internet. Nowadays with the power of almighty Internet, guides and walkthroughs, it can be really tempting to just look it up after bouts of frustration. But that was really the old school experience and super rewarding as a result. I think the game is underrated, sure it's buggy but incredibly ambitious for its time, employing lifelike ragdoll physics, huge environments, polygon counts and detailed textures, and the enemy AI is very complex, especially the movements. They're always on the move, sidestepping to avoid bullets, ducking and doing rolls. Sure they're imperfect but remember, was released in 2000.
    BTW 10:20 the framerate tanked because you used the unlimited draw distance patch, you can lower the draw distance values in the .ini file.

    Nice to see the Hitman series getting covered.
    Any plans to cover the Death To Spies Trilogy? they're heavily inspired by Hitman (Death To Spies, Moment of Truth and Alekhine's Gun) and I found them pretty good but people mostly overlook them.

    • @TheRealSpeedWolf
      @TheRealSpeedWolf ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I've played all three of them, and the best is Moment of Truth, especially when you can take the original Death to Spies and play it in Moment of Truth with the improved engine modded, it's fantastic. If they could only release it officially like that, it would have been awesome. Anakin's gun feels very incomplete.

    I believe this game was the very first stealth action game I've ever played. It has indeed a very steep learning curve, trial and error at its peak, and no room or mercy for mistakes. It was finnicky and annoying, but this and the first Splinter Cell taught me how to play stealth games. For example, even in newer games I find myself hiding bodies way more carefully than needed - all thanks to Splinter Cell's automatic body discovery mechanic. I remember always pushing myself to finish the jungle missions just to play the Budapest level; seeing my home country in a video game back in the day was amazing. Good old times.
    By the way, I think you didn't mention the RNG elements in Codename 47. In certain levels some mission objectives have more than one spawn location that's randomly set with every mission restart. For example, in mission 5, the jade statue could spawn in 3 different safes and the agent is held captive in at least 2 different cells. Both brilliant and sadistic; even if you learn how to complete the mission, step by step, this RNG can easily throw a wrench in the gears.

    when the game came out in 2000, my classmate introduced me to Hitman Codename 47 when I was only 13 yo. The game was back then a graphic bomb because of the ragdoll effects and also brutality. It was a fun game back then but nowadays it's outdated because of the difficulty. Also sneaking behind your enemies doesn't mean anything, they introduced the silent assassin sneaking up behind on the sequel. They basically cannot hear you regardless you were walking or running behind them.

    I played codename 47 for the 1st time last year that I was able to download it on pc, since it’s a pc exclusive game, I’ve played all hitman games before (have finished blood money-H3 2021) I played codename 47 only for curiosity because I knew I would not finish the game because of the controls (hate to play on mouse and keyboard) and cause the difficulty and yes, it was kinda nice to play but I played only the first 5 missions lol 😂 but I love the whole universe of hitman, even the movies !!! And the soundtrack of codename 47 is top-notch !!

    I wanted to love original, but gotta admit that I hated it. Loved graphics, atmosphere etc. overall, but too many silly mechanics that weren't refined at all. Contracts was already way better, but to me that also has annoying "borders" everywhere. Many first titles suffered from stupid things like wandering to wrong location in wrong disguise and get shot like within 5secs from all possible sides simultaneusly. But Blood Money was the title that I really began to fall in love the title. It improved formula A LOT giving quite vast amount of options to reach goals. It's not perfect and has plenty of unfair moments/designs/locations here and there, but if one would like to try the series from the beginning titles it's the one I would recommend to try. Absolution was quite fine and imo bit underrated title. Biggest flaw being that it was made bit too easy in easier levels. But the latest so-to-say reboot series damn it's good and refined. I don't know how many times I've played scenarios and man there's a lot to discover in them.

    Ah the unreal engine. You really started to see games set in modern day environments with lots of interactable when Unreal engine allowed for games like Deus Ex to be possible. Before that there was a very clear difference between RPG and action games. Just this being possible in the early 2000s was very exciting, having any kind of option or choice in how to play through a level, not just equipments.

    I didn't expect someone to cover the whole Hitman series! But dang Colombia looks rough on your end, it sure ran better on my crappy laptop on Windows 7. Then again I used a 3dfx wrapper to ran on it which I believe was the best way in terms of performance during the Glide (Direct 3D API competitor) era games.

    Gaming Pastime, I love your channel, but is it possible to review a game without spoiling it?

    • @Gamingpastime64
      @Gamingpastime64  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The spoiler warning is just to cover ourselves. In recent years, we actively avoid spoiling major story beats and twists and final bosses for example unless we absolutely feel it needs to be discussed. Even then we try to keep it somewhat vague if possible. At the very least, we haven't received any complaints since issuing the warning.
      We will show some near end or end-game gameplay content but avoid anything that we would consider a significant spoiler. Still, we provide the warning to be safe. Different people may view different things as spoilers.
      Our view is if we can't talk about something that we view positively or negatively because of spoilers, it wouldn't be a proper review.

      @@Nades_ Exactly the atmosphere of the new Hitman games is very lacking, the sheer brutality of the older games and the dark atmosphere is what partially drew me into the series the newer games feel more similar to something related to James Bond and are too "clean" for the lack of a better word in my mind, also there is too much handholding in the newer games and the rating system forcing one to play through in a specific way is at least not for me.
