  • MCCT - Micro Crawler Capability Test: • MCCT 1: Axial SCX24 De...
    Here we test, compare and grade capabilities and performance of micro trucks 1/18 - 1/24 scale.
    10 tests have to be passed, failing tests will rank the truck lower than trucks which passed all or failed less tests, independent of points gained:
    Test 1: Max. climbing ability on rough surface. 1 point for every 1° higher 45° Test 2: Max. climbing ability on smooth surface. 1 point for every 1° higher 45°
    Test 3: Max. descending ability including stop and ascending backwards 0.5 points for every 1° higher 45°
    Test 4 and 5: Tilt angle to the left and to the right. 0.5 points for every 1° higher 32°
    Test 6: Hill of branches, flat side. Max. 2 points
    Test 7: Hill of branches, steep side. Max. 10 points, rated by driver
    Test 8: Hill of smooth pebble stones, flat side. Max. 2 points
    Test 9: Hill of smooth pebble stones, steep side. Max. 10 points, rated by driver
    Test 10: Low speed performance and modulation 0 - 5 points, classified by comparison to well known models and ESCs 0 points: e.g. Panda Hobby Tetra K1, SG 1802 1 point: e.g. Hobby Plus CR-18, CR-24, Atlas 6x6 2 points: e.g. Axial SCX24 v1, Mini-Z 4x4 3 points: e.g. Axial SCX24 v2, Furitek ESCs with brushed motors 4 points: e.g. Hobbywing 1080 ESC, AS12 ESCs, ASX24 ESC 5 points: e.g. Furitek ESCs with brushless outrunner motors

    Finally the long awaited test is here, well done.
    one tiny suggestion though, maybe the slight modded version should be one that is stock without using any 3rd party parts?
    For example, remove the spare wheel at the back, remove the transparent "glass" part from the body, cut 2-3 mm off the spring and remove the front bumper etc.
    These minor changes already can bring noticeable improvements.
    Some people went one step further by rotating the back portal axle 45 degrees extend the wheel base a bit. I haven't tried this myself but they claimed it can also makes noticeable difference.

      Thanks.
      Yes, that is of course an option and a good idea. And it would be super interesting, not only in the FCX24, but also in all other trucks (like SCX24), change here a bit, change there a bit, mod here a bit, mod there a bit - and always check what effect this change has.
      Often give and take, extending wheelbase for example could affect performance on hill of branches steep negatively...
      I think about this, I really like the idea. When my 2nd FCX24 will arrive, maybe. But not MCCT, this is too time consuming - a seperate video, with "changing bits and checking effects" as title, or something like this ;-)

    Great video and very interesting results!! Really looking forward to receiving my FCX24 after seeing it's performance! I'm already making brass links for it and ordered Treal brass portal covers, it can be a total blast with those mods on the trails!

    Wheel weights seems to be what this thing needs

    ???- I noticed there's a distinct clicking during the climb tests. Both stock and V1. Sounds like a gear slipping/skipping and definitely looks to be a big factor in the failure due to the jerking of the skip. Anyone else notice this?

    Put some long links and driveshaft on it transformed it immensely

    Can you do a video on this build? I really would like to get mine performing like this.

      It is no build, I simply changed tires and removed the parts on the rear.

    Meinst die Injora Crawler Master 58x20 würden auch auf den stock Katana passen?
    Bin auf der Suche nach upgrade Reifen für meinen Katana auf der Serien Felge ohne zu Sägen und anzupassen.

    • @donaldsneffe
      @donaldsneffe  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nein, sind zu groß und vor allem zu breit (die Katana Reifen gehen ja unter die Karo rein beim Einfedern), hab sie mal kurz rangehalten.

      @@donaldsneffe hmm ok schade...die 54mm von Injora werden zu klein sein nehm ich an....ansonsten gibt es nichts dazwischen leider

    Short wheelbase is its Achilles heel

    • @donaldsneffe
      @donaldsneffe  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, often, but in some tests probably even an advantage (steep side hill branches).
