- FMS recently reached out to me to see if I wanted to review their nerw FCX24 mini 24th scale RC crawler. There has been a lot of buzz online about it being one of the best RC trucks at the moment, so I thought I'd try it out. In this episode of 10th Scale Garage, we take a look at the FMS power wagon and compare it to it's Horizon Hobby counter-part, the Axial SCX-24. Would definitely like to see it modded. Hoping the FMS wagons provide some competition and another solid platform for 1/24th. My 1/24 Deadbolt was just OK out of the box, but almost a year later all modded up it's a tiny beast.
An SCX24 with a thousand dollars in upgrades VS a 150 dollar stock truck the FMS is very impressive. Parts are the worrisome part I have looked metal portal gears are available but steering knuckles, ring and pinion the stuff we will break IDK. Love the FMS but still leaning towards SCX for my first 24th scale crawler. Great video.
Yes, a rematch is in order!!! The FMS looked quite spunky out there. Unhook the band for battery, give it a half twist coming over the top. Should solve that issue. Diggin the banter between you two cats as well. Makes this hobby fun with more than one person. Great video and keep them coming!!
Two thing I don't like on the fms are the body fixings, one clip broke first time I had to remove for battery recharge. The other the cheap way the battery is secured. I discarded the roll bar and spare wheel, made a flat bed from coffee stirrers and secured it from below using two small self tapping screws. The battery wires extended so battery now sits in a box within the flatbed which is much easier when battery needs a charge. Otherwise a lovely truck which gets used regularly.
Those shock spacers made me laugh considering the size of normal spacers, love the in-depth feel of the video too!
Definitely would like to see them again on your inside mini crawler course. It would be interesting to see if some of those RC AWD parts you mentioned would fit too. I do like the body style better than the SCX24, but I wish the wheelbase was a bit longer.

Treal wheels that come with the wheel hub extenders are supposed to fit. I have a set I'm about to try. Also fill oil shocks using the little O-Rings. There are some nice 3D printed parts on EBay by McCue RC. Every truck comes with a little goodie. It's my first 24th scale, and I think it's pretty sweet.
Give that rubber band that's supposed to hold the battery in place a 180 degree twist over top of the battery, so that it criss-crosses over the battery. Bet that'll work.
Would love to see you guys give it a second go at it with the hop ups for it.
It looks like if you want to upgrade your scx24 one more time, you could move the rear axle back 10mm on the FCX24 and move the blue body to the FCX24. There you go, all the upgrade you'll need. Well, check if the portal gears came in metal, if not, change them! (Just having fun, you know 😀)
Yeah awesome you got the red one, it’s such a awesome color, Tinker time RC has roll cages and flatbeds just a little modification , Fits on perfectly, they are pretty awesome has different styles

Yeah I got a special package with mine, it was just the servo mount, peoples been getting one out of five or six different things they have something like that. You got the inner portal covers that’s awesome
loved the review man, not a bad little truck, putting it up against a tricked out axial with longer wheelbase is a bit unfair tbh, but it is what it is. Once you have a few upgrades on it it should be a pretty good competitor......... i get the feeling you secretly like the little guy. Keep them coming

I am glad you did a review on these 24.I was thinking of buying one,like i need another 24.I know you can!t have to many? I would of liked to see you running a stock Gladiator,and seen how they compare.Also would be interested what kind of after markets will fit,if they have any.Please let us know.Another great video,Happy RC and stay safe everyone☮
So far I have only done few free mods, remove the spare wheel and transparent window part, shortened the shock springs by about 3mm, moved the battery behind the motor, turned ESC 90 degrees, free metal gear from FMS, move the screws on the front portal axles to the other side (back) for greater steering angle.....
gonna 3D print reinforced steering links and possible a new frame to replace the hard body.

I have one of these little beasts on the way, also some Treal steel portal gears, that should put some weight low down and beef up the drive train.

you twist the rubber band in an X to hold the battery. Use your pinky to turn the switch on and off, i have huge hands and have no issue turning mine on and off. I actually like these body clips but they just take a bit to get used to but they hold WAY better than the Velcro or magnets. This truck is awesome for the price.

Treal has some brass parts for it! They are pretty cool little rigs! I definitely like FMS over Axial but that's just me. Im more impressed with the FMS making it as far as it did than the scx. I know how much upgrades that scx has lol
I bought two FMS 6x6 Atlas’ and both were bad out of the box.
Warped plastic motor plate on one and broken axles on the second that looked to be packaged that way.
Considering my personal experience, I’ll stick with my fleet of SCX24’s and the new TRX4 M

Please hop up that truck. Bought 2 scx24s, but held off on the fcx because of aftermarket parts availability. I'd be interested to see if they match up and what is interchangeable.
Seems TREAL and Furitek are doing some great upgrades.
Interested in testing my moa kit for it? Still working on it but... building list of testers for it now. Hopefully done by the end of September. Waiting on hardware and still gotta figure out what platform to sell it on..

Out of the box this struggle on our course compared to the SCX24 but a few mods and it's definitely a good rig.
Furitek has thier micro komodo motor mounted on the fcx transmission for sale now
Mine came with the O-rings for you could put oil in the shocks
I think you could plug wire into the empty one and run it to the back for tail lights but I’m not positive that’s what I’m just thinking

Thier support is great from what I seen and after market part makers are jumping on also

Imo these are a step up from scx24s. Now scx needs to respond with more upgrades. Some sick hybrids of both out here also

Twist the battery strap to make an X across.
SOME weight is good for crawling though, especially small scale, otherwise they just bounce over obstacles

Just got mine in the mail today, and yeah, the transmitter is very small and cheap looking, doesn't stand up like my other transmitters, even the one that came with a little $59 car came with a bigger transmitter. Mine has rubber on the wheel and but doesn't have the dip switches....
Had to glue my tank also!

God I wish they made this truck in 1/16, I'm old and the 1/24 category is just to hard for me to work. Fms is an awesome company I've recently bought the jimny and the jeep and I love them. I can't stand axial cheap and low quality plus way overpriced.🙏😎✝️☮️
The Jimny is a lot of fun. Is that the 1/6 scale or the 1/12? I haven't tried the 1/12 yet.

They are both 1/6, if you leave them stock they really don't need anything they are fantastic my jeep is stock except for accessories. The jimny I had to do some work on it only cause I wanted slightly more crawler abilities so it required some mods. I have videos on both🙏😎☮️✝️

@@10thScaleGarage yea when you invert that V pattern loose soil or whatever you are going over , is moved toward the center of the tire as it rotates instead of siping it out to the sides which is what that tread pattern was designed for . Its good for keeping the tire clean but its not good for climbing rocks or loose terrain but invert the v pattern and its a total game changer. Someone told me this secret years ago to help my tamiya lunchbox to be able to get to the top of a hillside that i was struggling to get up. Trust me when I tell you i switched the two rear tires around and it climbed up the dirt hill like a pro
I’m sure someone already said this and it’s still a crap design but the rubber band should be twisted when you pull it over the battery to hold it in place. I had to “read the book” to find that out and no one should ever have to read the manual lol

Everyone likes the scx24 but it is not the best out of the box crawler. The HBX Devistator crawler is way better at crawling than any scx24.
I want so bad to like the little FMS.. but changing the wheels and tires seems sinful because they're part of its look. I bought their Atlas 6x6 (1/18) and it looks sooo cool but is so disappointing that I'm returning it. I can't find any tires for it due to the scale difference, and the tires are terrible. If you're on rock, they're fine, but on anything other than a hard surface and even with 6wd, they don't work. I don't have room for shelf queens, so if it doesn't earn its keep, I'm not keeping it.
this would be a HARD PASS for me....good review though :)

Who is everyone? Not a single person I know who crawls has this or any bangood stuff. They do have the associated/element stuff and the axial scx24. My 5 local hobby shops don't even carry that stuff lol
