- Sweden didn’t fight in either of the World Wars of the 20th century. The country managed to stay away from armed conflicts thanks to its long-lasting policy of neutrality backed by a strong military. In order for things to stay that way, the Swedish both bought combat vehicles designed elsewhere and developed their own. Today we’re going to talk specifically about the most extraordinary aircraft made in Sweden: from the lightning-quick Draken to the unusual-looking A21.

A bit of my story: i started my journey in War Thunder with the swedish tech tree bcs of the unusual and cool vehicles and aircraft, my favorite swedish aircraft is the J22A because was the plane i used most and liked it, was with him i learned all dodging air manouvers and other essential knowledge for SB and RB.

Sweden's missing some fighter-bomber CAS for lower tiers, but it's possibly the best beginner's tree ever. 13.2 Akan for air, and the J22-B will stand by you no matter what (except if you compress into the ground). If you're into tanks, the 37mm APDS is a lot of fun, and the Bofors 40 with SAP will be your best friend. I was a bit late to the party but the planes are excellent, especially in Air Sim.
Here's hoping Gaijin adds Swedish coastal vessels one day, so that naval players can enjoy Sweden and Finland's armada of Coastal Patrol ships.
I would say the Bofors 40mm is quite bad for beginners, considering it requires good aiming or an enemy plane that really likes assaulting SPAA head-on.

Gaijin should also add the Thor, a destroyer from the 1920s or 30s.
Sweden has plenty enough to build a bluewater tree too. The only department that's lacking is in battleships, but everything up to that point is provided for
As for lower tier fighter bomber, while not based on a fighter the B 5 (Northrop 8A) could be interesting as a monoplane attacker with four 8 mm forward firing machine guns and good bomb load
Imo Sweden's air tree is not really good for begginers due to fact how much many of it's plane are overtiered. Guns can save you but it punishes a lot of mistakes. But yeah ground is great especially with Finland filling in some gaps.
Q: is there also a record for the most late props and gen 1 jets with insane repair costs.

Coincidentally, Sweden might be a contender, due to their competent playerbase their repair costs are jacked up.

@@CT--ym5mn US and RU mains will truly feel the pain when the Eurocanards are added. Only things that'll compete are maybe the superhornet and the canard Flankers/thrust vectoring Flankers, and 5th gen if those ever come
Is the addition of the AJS37 something you devs might be thinking about? because currently sweden is missing a CAS jet for top tier as the AJ37 is still the best option even if it only sits at BR 10.3 and has a very lackluster loadout

Yeah they should have added the AJS37 instead of the JA37D and just given the JA37C it's proper loadout with RB74's.
The only thing JA37D really brought with it was more data link and AMRAAM's, which are too soon for war thunder...
@@Aenonar yeah, the JA37D we currently have in game is just what the JA37C was IRL. similarly the AJ37 we have in game rn is not what it was irl since its missing a whole lot of weapons options aswell as hardpoints, even at 10.3 it struggles in both air and ground RB.
J35D, always ready to eat a missile because it has no flares
My favourite jet fighter is the JAS 39 Gripen. Where I live it is currently the only fighter at the airforce and all 12 are uniquely made. They have been made from 2 different variants of the Swedish fighter, mixing the both's best. This Hungarian variant is, in my opinion, capable to fight the original ones (not the latest) and maybe succeed, though I don't wish to find it out
Also, please add the B 18R, an experimental jet variant of the SAAB 18s, also, please add ejector seats to jets, and SAAB 18s, and SAAB 17s.
Ever since I saw the Viggen I always wanted it in the game (so grinded 2 weeks straight to get the Viggen in WT) now Im also hoping to see the Gripen in the near future as its just as beautiful as the Viggen...so yes I really like the Viggen and also Gripen as they are unique, look amazing and have some very interesting stuff irl aswell
Adding the gripen would makes sense for next update as ja37D is not a gen 4 aircraft and it way behind in todays meta
@@legendbee9579 Gripen is a 4.5 gen im pretty sure and it would also cause american mains to cry about not having the best jet just like they did with china having a better F-16 than them so gaijin added 2 F-16 to usa. so i don't see the gripen coming anytime soon and if it does the F-22 will probably come aswell knowing gaijin.

@@Squisbabvs no I think you’re thinking about the upgraded gripen E which is classed as a 4.5 for its electronic warfare capability a system I doubt will be added ever because it’s a “kill steal” complicated system. The normal Gripen A is a Viggen with different airframe
J35j is relatively based it's capable of mach 2 and has long range radar missiles, also the edited body shape adds to it's appeal, I'd love to see it in the game later.

The Gripen is probably too new to be added to warthunder, I like it too but it was deployed in 1988 and the newest plane in warthunder was deployed for the first time in 1976, maybe the coming year. But probably not the next update.

I think we forgot the most important. The J29 family. It was the first European mass produced and swept wing fighter in Europe

The thrust reverser on the JA37 in real life was capable of activating midair to minimize the landing runway length needed on hidden airfields i around the Swedish forests!
Sadly for some reason the thrust reverser in war thunder works only after landing which neglect the point of using it at all! Hopefully gaijin will look into it soon as multiple reports on this subject was submitted.
It could not be activated midair. It could only be primed. The pilot pulls a handle on his left side to do so and once all three wheels are on the ground the reverser would engage.

The thrust reverser could be primed in air but it would only activate when the front wheel was compressed.

As a swede I like them all, and these planes are fast and highly manouverable too, I think every other country is afriad of these planes
Can you also add incendiary bombs to the A 21A-3, the real thing could drop the drop tanks as fire bombs.

As a swedish player that hasn’t gone to far in the Swedish tech tree: I like the B18A because its a low BR and it is extremely good at tank killing (for its BR)
The B-18 series is a must have for ground RB untill jets come into plsy.
I’ve gotten 1st place in an Air Arcade battle in the B 18A by bombing vehicles and shooting down enemy aircraft, mostly biplanes, because I was mostly in a down tire.
I love the sk60 and the SAAB-105g I have over 600 games in the 105g and it has inspired me to want to get one in the future as a personal aircraft )
Ikea definitely needs these warbirds to show Home Depot who's the king of furniture.

I like the fact that we (Sweden) made something that could only be described as, an engine with a seat on top of it. The Saab-29 Tunnan (meaning: Barrel in Swedish) was probably not the best-looking aircraft around, but it was an aircraft that shocked the world at the time it was introduced.
i really hope they add the Jas 39 Gripen soon

Draken is the most beautiful and awesome plane that have ever built and no plane in the world gonna be that beautiful and iconic then J35 Draken 😍
In WT, J35D is also 10.7 without flares, RWR, Tracers fighting F14. Thank you War Thunder for that legend too

The Saab 38 or B3LA as it also was called never made it past wooden mock up so it would be a stretch even for War Thunder to add

Will there ever be a grippen E series in the Swedish tech tree it’s a multirole fighter with a lot of unique features and can even compare to the Russian Mig 29. In real life it also got a shared radar it’s like when 1 plane sees a target on radar all the grippens can see the plane on radar. It also has a good ground pounding armament and has a good set of air to air missiles. Currently brasil and Sweden use this plane. It would be fun to see it in game

No, they will add earlier versions of the Gripen first. And it is quite alot better than the MiG-29. Lastly, there are several more countries using the Gripen, like Czechia, South Africa and Hungary.
Gripen E is the latest version currently in development, it’s much superior to the MIG29
The j35 draken has been my favorite air craft since i was just a child and saw it at a museium
I like deltawings, but they tend to spontaneously explode in war thunder when pulling a few Gs so they don't get alot of flight time.
I'm actually swedish myself, my favorite aircraft from Sweden is Draken. I just love the shape and everything about it. Fun fact Draken means the dragon and a Vigg is a bird that hunts big animals like rats and sometimes even sheep.

Q: Will wing vapor effects be added to jets?
(Read this in the most sarcastic voice ever) You see the thrust reverser is actually for landing vertically. With a regular horizontal or tail sitting configuration the pilot has very poor visibility while landing and to fix that would require either a weird moving seat or a strange window layout which would decrease durability. However by landing with the cockpit facing downward the pilot has plenty of visibility and knows exactly what the plane is doing. The pane can even be stored in a rack similar to an ice cream cone holder or due to the sharp point of the nose could be landed on almost any terrain due the sharp point digging itself into the ground.
A suggestion to a minor or the next major update should be when an aircraft does a sharp turn then you get an air effect that is on the surface of the aircraft
now imagine if they added back the tracers, it would actually be worth playing any of these vehicles again

@@finnrissa4594 No that's not the reason, the tracers would have a large amount of incendiary ammo and would set anything on fire.

I realize you are trying to hide behind historic accuracy but if that were the case you would remove the tracers from British 30mm cannons as well.

I have experience with the J35D. I killed someone in a Mig-29 from like, 0.05 miles away, with missiles. After I sent that Mig-29 back to the lobby, I got another kill. Only this time I was super close to the ground. I simply just, acted like I was turning right, then I spun around the other way to get a maneuver kill. I didn't think it was good enough to be on Thunder Show so i never recorded any of it.

The J21 might as well be called the Magic Carpet due to it's almost magic flight abilities and the magic guns\ammo. And I don't think that it's based on reality, just the game.

Fix the Swedish air tree for AB! The J26 shouldn't be further down the tree than the propeller J21s!
They have the same BR in RB mode, so there's no reason *not* to swap them in the tree...

Sk60 is a great premium vehicle for grinding the tech tree

The Fat Man J29's have a mean bite and turn quickly. Also made of Stalinium - I have twice smashed an opponents cockpit with my belly for a kill and kept on flying. I've also bounced them off of the ground and slid down mountain slopes a few times.

You could have just given the JA37C its proper loadout with RB74 and added the AJS37 instead, featuring 4 RB74 (or just 2 RB74 plus AKAN pods), 2 RB24J along with the anti-ship missiles as you now have that type with the Tornado.
Why are people hating on Sweden being in WT. They have some of the most unique aircrafts. Which gives WT a big roster to add to the game.
My favorite swedish plane is the J8a. Simple, with flaps, and very manuverable, but not common at 7.0 GRB so most don't expect it

I like to have flares for rank 5-6 jets for Sweden please, or at the least a small downtier.

War thunder should ad the Gripen. Swedens fourth generation fighter that we use to this day for our Air defence. Bad ass aircraft and really would be cool in this game

I begin War Thunder using Swedish, after reaching T3, then i start T1 again with other nation to the right, it become easier and more fun. with all nation T2 unlocked, I will start again with Swedish T3-T4 and so on to the right
I started with Japanese Navy, but soon went to Swedish Air, and my first ground was Sweden. I’m glad I started before Fire and Ice, because I already had the Spj fm 43/44 when it came out.

As for the swedish, I like them (no jets) but they seem too expensive to repair. IOW even if I win battles it is not easy to get a positive Lions balance.

I really like the Ja37C and D and im currently trying to grind sweden air right now with the j35xs i know how to play it but i cant get out of flatspins or anything else when the jet gets below 400
flatspin procedure goes like this
Have a good amount of altitude
Cut throttle completely (0%)
Toggle controls mode to full real so that instructor turns off
Yaw/rudder in the direction the plane is turning (e.g. if plane spinning left, rudder left,)
Keep pitching up and down on the elevators until the aircraft's nose is down again
Apply rudder the other way with moderation - if none applied or too much applied you will enter the flatspin again
It's fun to practice in the test flight :D
use air break the draken aur break design to help it get out of spin and in warthunder its work
I literally went broke after burying a tier 2 p-38 E plane, and I don't wanna know the price tag for any of those planes in-game

i love the jas 39. and kan you maybe put it in war thunder because you have the f-16 and the mig-29 and the jas 39 first generation was produced in 1980-1990

i do like most swedish planes, to be fair.
But to point out stuff in the video:
0:21 there was the catalina, Venom and the Spitfire, don't see them ingame yet
0:26 the lansen does not feature any all-aspect missiles, in fact the only plane with all-aspects is the JA37D (possible hint at tube-launched m/57 rocket?)
0:30 not so lightning-quick when you compare it to what it faces when uptiered
0:58 you guys got rid of that maneuverability in favor of more flatspins (nice 11-14K repair cost)
1:02 can't peform the cobra anymore, you will only loose all your speed, flatspin and be a nice meal for any enemy
1:05 might be beautiful, but it's not any more dangerous than anything else at the tier, thanks to no defense against missiles
1:10 don't think so, you will be hit by some AIM-7 you won't even see coming (also, no tracers)
1:31 20kg of "not being able to hit anything" since no tracers, also sits at 12-13K repair cost for fighting all-aspect missiles
1:36 A-10 has flares and all-aspects, Lansen doesn't
2:04 the AJ37 is 17K in repair cost, sits at 10.3, overshadowed by any other aircraft at it's tier. The AJ37 comes with two RB-75 (or AGM-65) Mavericks, whilst the A-10 and F-4E comes with 6, aswell as the F-16. Do not get me started on the russian aircraft (where is the thermal-nose viggen when you need it)
2:15 there was a considered nuclear bomber, Projekt 1300
2:40 the J21 only won the headon since the bf-109 didn't fire a single shot, MG151 tears through anything now
2:56 the jet engine is literally peforming like the piston engine counterpart
3:11 the thrust reverser could be activated at any time, pilots chose against it due to slowing down too fast and crashing. Also, the Thrust reverser is at the moment very bugged, and will turn off and enter afterburner mode instead.
3:33 these aircraft currently displayed are the most expensive to fly, as the J21 sits at 8-10K, the SK.60 at 14K, the Lansen at 15K and the viggens at 11-17K
to argue aswell, the Lansens did use fire extinguishers for the engine (source: look in front of the throttle, there is a switch with "brandsläckare"

Trust reverser could be primed prior to landing but would only engage once all wheels where on the ground, so no activation in flight was ever possible
Spitfires in Swedish service where pure recon versions with no armament
There was one Avro Lancaster used in the early 1950’s as a test bench for a Swedish designed jet engine planned to be used in the A32, the jet engine was attached centrally under the fuselage so theoretically it could be added to the tree without the jet engine, also 9 US B17.s where purchased and converted to civilian airliners in 1945 by Saab so they could also be added giving the Swedish tree some heavy bombers
