Eigong lives up to the hype for sure. Watching the opening cutscene again and seeing the shape Yi’s in you’re like “yeah that makes sense for a first attempt.”
Fun note: in the opening cutscene, Yi didn't yet learn any of moves he learns from young Lear in the first half of the game - so no tai-chi kick, air dash/doublejump, charged attack and of course *no UC*. Also he had no bow, and its likely his pipe was also unupgraded and with 2 flasks. Jades he possessed are also questionable in quality/quantity/available slots. He was trying to fight her like THAT.
@@user-25352 Yeah, you are spot on. Over the game Yi gets more into Taoism and finally becomes a legendary Fangshi like Lear. So the past Yi is not much of a Taoist or Fangshi. But over the course of the game he becomes strong as he is in more in tune with Fusang roots - The Greater Tao.
The developer said that they have been rushed for the last 3 bosses due to the time and budget. They wanted to make a phrase 3 for Ji and more content in the last laboratory. Even the dragon boat was supposed to be a Boss fight. What a shame. But still, the ending is great and enjoy every monent of it. Thanks for the playthroguh.
Oh that explains why Ji was one of the easier bosses of the late game. I am not saying his fight is bad but compared to the last 2 bosses - Fengs and Eigong he is very easy
@@shaarumenan4454interesting, I found Ji to be more challenging than the Fengs. He’s more tricky imo. But it IS strange how Lady Ethereal is so much more challenging than either of those.
@@Lyubimov89 imagine if they werent rushed. ji may have been much harder. lady ethereal is a nearly perfect boss, she demands u to be at least excellent at the game's core mechanics and have sustain. ji doesnt really feel like that, especially with that one "attack" that let's you roulette a heal/azure sand everytime lmao. the fengs are challenging enough imo tho but maybe add a third phase where it's just nuwa left and you have to hit her on her floating chair, give her more snake attacks and stuff. that + a third phase to ji wouldve been super good
I've been playing this game for the past week now and have been watching how you have handled bosses (usually after beating them myself). I have cought up to your videos and am now also at this boss. What an amazing fight! I've been at it for maybe 4-5 hours now and I can quite confidently get to phase 3 now. I'm getting there! (Reciprocation and Iron Skin Jade work really well for me) Thank you for your Lets Play!
Iron Skin is so useful in general, tho I prefer Breather (simply healing internal damage by attacking with the sword) for maximum tankiness. Damage can be dealt with say Qi Blade instead. Maybe I will try UC-focused build later if I don't beat P3 soon... before Eigong I wasn't much into doing UCs aside specific enemy attacks.
@@user-25352 Ye, I used Breather too. My Full Setup was Qi Blade, Reciprocation, Iron Skin and Breather Jades. I used Water Flow Talisman and didn't use arrows. But I see people handling her quite differently. I have beat her after 7 hours spread over 3 days XD. I think this might be my favorite Boss Fight in any game ever. There is no built that makes this fight easy (as far as I know) and I don't think u can get a lucky early kill. It just takes a lot of trial and error, but it never gets boring and you are constantly getting better at it. I had chills and my heart was pounding everytime I made past 50% in Phase 3. (That said, I still have to beat the Final Boss of the Elden Ring DLC ^^)
@@runkelrube2434 ah so you have used Recipro more as extra internal healing, as opposed to additional dps. Sure this could work. I might try to stop being damage greedy and unequip Swift Blade (which outweights healing of Breather but allows to fit in more full sword combos). And yeah, many jade builds work, yet none will allow "cheese" or anything... unless you use dash down spam (wonder if it counts as a exploit).
Huge grats on Eigong!!! The fight was so difficult, but so hella satisfying as well! Took me hours of practice, but I didn't really get frustrated at my deaths cause I knew I could just parry everything she does, she doesn't have any real BS attacks. Love this fight, and this game was worth it just for this.
I myself had two walls, the final boss of course and lady ethereal. Lady ethereal was the first boss that forced me to actually use the combat because of the 3 phases. Before that I was really struggling with the titchi kick or however you spell it and dodging unblock ables.
Great job getting through that ordeal! got a little story with this fight, when I got to Eigong and learned that there were multiple endings involving the same fight, I lowered the difficulty (which returned to standard after reloading before the point of no return), but some weird glitch happened where my true ending fight in 'standard' difficulty got nerfed drastically and I had no way to get it back to its true damage settings (essentially got the standard ending achievement for free...)... is probably fixed by now, maybe I'll give it a shot again if it is....... As for the questlines that were not finished, I believe they trigger after the point of no return is crossed while having met all the conditions and going to the correct places (you went to the right place but the wrong time) and for the map chip 9000 one you go to the leftmost room in the research facility where that solarian is knocking on the glass trying to free itself (that would be the friend they were searching for)
Honestly I've got no clue why I didn't get the real ending, I helped him become chief and did everything else, picked the I want apemen to be secure choice, wtf She was definitely a gnarly boss, first one that was hard at all, but never got the third phase It was jarring to just cut to humans being all advanced and living with Yi But yeah, this is up there with hollow Knight and Hades, definitely top marks. glad shuanshuan gets to be a hyper advanced leader of society, and the solarians were doomed no matter what that was the whole point
tbh if you try every boss mainly in parry (especially the fifth one) the only problem you'll meet in EIGONE might just be how to judge upper hand bomb and talisman read attack and the 3rd phase parry can be easily executed but still you did a very impressive job breaking through the first two phase in 2 hours when you don't really master the parry system! good vids and hope this game really brings you a very good time.
Great game, great playthrough.. You may not read this but I have a slightly unrelated question... With your love of metroidvanias how have you not played the new prince of Persia game yet??
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the difficulty of the game, I loved it, but I absolutely agree they should’ve added a hard mode for players who finished casual mode and wanted more, maybe like a boss rush as well
@@_------------_ there’s something very obnoxious about long boss fights, because it takes so long between each try, and he also mentioned that in the video. Hey Quasi, thanks for staying up so late to give us this great final video ! So, my thoughts on Nine Sols : all in all, a great game. I wanted to start with that, because it is very good, and this was an enjoyable LP. I have a 2 problems with it though : - the lack of variety in the environments : I got SO sick of these factory and cave settings, and tbh it all started to blur after a while. Places like Lady Ethereal mindscape were such a breath of fresh air, and were severely lacking from the game imo. This is my biggest complain. - small complain : I loved the story, I loved Yi spending time with Shuanshuan and his other friends, but I feel there was almost too much of it? I'm pretty sure I'm completely wrong, but I feel like you spent almost as much time in the pavilion as you were actively playing the game. I didn't get bored per se, but I feel each time the game was finding its rhythm, nope ! Time to go back to have a chat with the friends ! I usually don't have this problem in games (and mv in particular) but I felt it several times during this Nine Sols LP (nothing major though, as I said, this is a small complaint). Thanks for playing this one Quasi, cheers ! PS : awesome last fight and the ending credits song was pretty sick (didn't expect the borderline black metal shriek in there lol, but I liked it) !
