@Darklordlucas you have a point, but if you define cheese as "a strategy that relies upon not being scouted to work", then 4 gate is cheese. is 2 port banshee or 2 stargate void rays cheese? that doesnt hit until around the 6 minute mark . A good 4gate will hit around that time as well...
@operations1000 I am pretty sure the protoss was going for a 3 gate FE, but had to put up a 4 gate once he saw the spines. I dont think he was doing the sentry based 4 gate so, and 4 gate is not really cheesing unless the protoss loses all his units in an attack. If he pressures and pulls back, its perfectly fine.

@KlineStife The creep shouldnt spread to far, especially if the cannons preventing any structures from going up. Creep tumor wont work, and even if the do manage, just send workers out to expo else where. Theres limitless possibilities
@AbduCola you cant leave your base. spines are blocking you in, and you will be harassed so bad that you probably cant get a robots up for the prism. your low ground cannon tactic will be ineffective mainly because any probe going down will die from the spines, and any cannon that tries to go up will be hit by lings and queens.
@Bawlsackable Its cheese but like 4 gate and bunker rush you can sorta transition into something else IF and this is a big IF you can do enough damage to justify it. You gotta destroy buildings/units/pylons and you'll be ahead even if you loose the base.
No, it wouldn't, they have the same range, so you can easily burrow two spines within the range and then unburrow the one which is getting all the cannon hits, and then you use Overlord vision to be able to attack the cannon. And also, if it does prevent the spines from poking, they're still being contained bad time.
@TheEthug I play zerg and a 4gate isnt cheese. Its just really strong. Its the protoss equivalent to early roaches. Which is a bit of an all in, but even if you lose early roaches or a 4gate you likely expanded after you started the attack and begin teching. Its easy to scout as well...all you need is some spines and roaches and your good.
@luxon4 He wasn't able to get his forge and the cannons up in the time between the time he saw the hatchery and the first spinecrawlers popped up. After that he would have to chance of getting cannons up within poking distance of the spinecrawlers leaving the wallof at the ramp exposed. gg or come up with a more reasonable tactic

@mopmopmopmopmop Its not all in. Then every situation where your opponents choose workers over units would be classified the same. Just because your behind doesn't mean you auto loose. It just means your opponent has an advantage. His advantage was economy and yours was army. If u don't make use of your advantage then his will win and vice versa. All in would be taking all your drones with you into the fight or such an amount there any chance of come back would be unlikely or impossible.
@Opiv337 I'm guessing you didn't do so well on the reading comprehension part of the SAT. I was saying the game was more fun before I got into masters because as long as my macro was better than my opponents I could still win i.e. in platinum carrier rush is an option in diamond and above it isn't.
@Darklordlucas in this position faster than the hatch completes. also, since you are doing the hatchery cancel trick to create creep to lay a tumor, you can instnatly morph a spine. this way it surprises your enemy. building the hatch in your opponents natural will ruin the surprise.
@Rillymonray I was in diamond, however haven't placed in the second ladder. I have been to semis and finals in several open tournaments around the internet. I used to play random before going zerg and toss is easily my second strongest race. Trust me 4 gate and blink are the only viable strategies in pvp not based on luck. For a while people were trying that three stalker rush thing that "countered" 4 gate. However it started autolosing to anyone who expod into 6 gate push.
If you want to see another game like this, search up "Planetary Fortress Baby" from HDstarcraft. It's a TvT of qxc versus Jaryong, and probably the silliest pro game ever.
@Graham6762 Crawler dies without creep after a while. Also gets killed if they pull probes because its health isnt as high as a hatchery. Theres also no way to hide it, because you cant move it once its down.
@Ovni121 So you're saying that if you were masters league you wouldn't take every advantage possible. An amazing keyboard can help out and give you a small edge.
I'm pretty sure TB did something like this, but when he was Terran and against another Terran. Only instead of spines and lings he made Neo-steel bunkers and PFs at the bottom of the ramp and harassed with stealth banshees. That was a good game.
I almost feel like a defensively used 4gate would be especially strong against this. What advantages would macroing up have? As toss, being stuck on one base while he has two seems undesirable, unless prepping some timing attack? Or why not an earlier cheese, like 2gate cyber when you see the expo go down?

ummm wouldnt it be more efficient to just pull a queen out, do the drone hatchery cancel trick to lay a creep tumor. and proceed to making spines from there on. it saves you 300 minerals from making a hatch so why not?
You could even start the spine crawlers earlier by building a hatch then canceling it and building the spine with the creep that remains from the cancelled hatch!!
Im extremly far from being a pro at sc2, but on metalopolis with the close spawns,and such a short rushing distance would a forge fast expand really be the best idea?
This was a very nice game. Nice to see someone winning as Zerg once in a while, it gives me hope. Still, I can see why a Zerg main would be frustrated as hell playing this game. How do you not misclick with so many layers of commands?
Poepkop How do you keep up without a huge level of ambition and confidence? How can you keep fighting when everyone is toxic? Why bother trying when people make fun of you for being on a laptop?
JakesFavorites well i'm bronze4life lol, i played alot of mobas though. the trick to the toxic part is simple, block/ignore anyone who says anything that might tilt you and make you under perform. and i've never had confidence playing sc2. managing so many things at once was just not something i was good at. although with enough drive, i could try to get better. if you're not enjoying the game at all, i advice you to find something else:P but it can feel good to see yourself improve, even if it's just for gold league or whatever

I've lost to every single possible strategy and people who are supposedly art of help groups just told me to get a new system and come back when I am platinum. Which will never happen, because this game does not come with a fucking instruction manual.
I think 3 sentries, a cannon, and a stargate could hold this off. His mistake was letting his first sentry get caught by the lings, so he was stuck with a forced crappy wall-off instead of force fields. The sentries could forcefield the ramp indefinitely, the canon would prevent a spinecrawler getting close and 2 voidrays would be untouchable except for the one queen.

@Wheatspin you can transition out of anything technically. You will however be behind when transitioning out of cheesy builds like 4 gate.

Another counter is just to keep a unit patrolling at your natural, preventing the hatch from going down. Or, you can just tech straight to dts.

Metagame was much different then. Toss stayed on 1 base for a long time then.

This is the most awesome cheese of all time.
Forge fast expand is really hard to do on this map. The natural is wide open and isn't on the high ground. Maps like Ohana are great for FFE though.
So what's the build that he uses? 14pool 13gas ?expo ...
This is going to change a lot for protoss on this map..
